So the way we determine tiebreakers and who goes through is as follows.
Priority order.
Series won Map score difference (wins minus losses) Head-to-Head score.
As to whether or not that's a good system, that's up for debate and we'll happily take feedback on it once the post-mortem for this tournament comes out. However this is what we used this time and our results were correct on that basis, as were the speculations we made about Grubby and Ret.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. I wanted Grubby to get first, but this is a perfect system and shouldn't be changed.

He has Twitch.tv now not sure if it's enough to suport him as a solo player though.
People should never forget how successful Grubby was in WC3. Him and Moon were prone to bankrupting teams with their salaries.

Thanks for watching. Some may argue that in the Grubby-Ret situation Grubby should take first place but imo in a group format exactly because you are in a group, that shouldn't be the case... Ret performed better than Grubby. Simple as that. And the system you are using ensures that the player who performs better takes the first place... I think it's perfectly fair...

sry late to the party just wondering where the stream is?

It would make no sense to invest money into this game if you could get paid instead. I doubt Grubby would resist a team if all he did was invest his own money, staying solo can not be that important. So i don't really know what your getting at.

Thanks for watching. So you are saying that if Grubby were to 2-0 Ret, he would indeed win the group.
Let's summarize (in this hypothetical situation).
Grubby: 2-1 Socke, 1-2 Cloud, 2-0 Ret: Total 2 series won and 2 map score difference (5-3). Ret: 2-0 Socke, 2-0 Cloud, 0-2 Grubby: Total 2 series won and 2 map score difference (4-2).
They are tied on the first two counts and so Grubby should be ahead of Ret on head-to-head score, which is the third tiebreaker.
Is there something I'm not getting? You were saying on stream that Ret was guaranteed first, but you seem to contradict yourself.
I realise this is beating a dead horse at this point, it just seems like I'm blind. You say you were right but I don't see it.

was the grubby/ret game indeed much closer, like the score stats with 2:1, then homestory ?
sad that the german talent got knocked out hope i can catch the tourney tomorrow !

UPDATE : We are pushing the tournament back to 2pm GMT to accommodate the player's sleeping schedules. So that's 2 hours later.
|
TotalBiscuit is tired, give him a break.
Anyway it doesn't matter as it was a 2-1 not a 2-0. I agree with you TheBB, in that hypothetical, Grubby gets first.
But really, the big tourney sites should have options for these kinds of events so casters can concentrate on the games, not the tourney system.

Poor aTn, 3 players but not one made it through.

GREAT idea!
This will allow PST people like me to actually see the first part of the tourney!

This tournament, and TB, and Ret and Grubby, are all awesome anyway. I'm just an inbred pedant. But thanks for agreeing at least.
