This week of Playhem's showmatch series brings Liquid`TLO and White-Ra! Don't forget to tune in to what's sure to be an epic series and let us know who you'd like to see next week :D
Shattered Temple, Calm Before The Storm, ESV Cloud Kingdom, Shakuras Plateau, Antiga Shipyard, Bel'shir Beach (Winter), Dual Sight, Daybreak, Terminus SE, Metalopolis, and Tal'Darim Altar
Normally I'd want my hero Ra to "make the gg", but TLO's end-of-year post was basically Eye of the Tiger in blog form. I'm torn. Will tune in for sure.

I have to call this 6-2 in favor of White-ra, His PvZ has been looking extraordinary, while TLO has improved a lot these recent days, I still feel at this point, White-ra is too far ahead of him.

Will be an interesting showmatch for sure, these guys now practice together regularly so expect some mind games out of the both of them. Been a little bit since I watched TLO's stream but I hope he's still doing all the nydus stuff, it was kick ass.
Probably the longest running SC2 rivalry (with two big name players who have met countless times in so many different places). It's always great to see these guys go at it. Go WhiteRa!

My thoughts as well. Looking forward to the special tactics!!!
Ra's timing is good. TLO's read wasn't off, he was making hydras and had spores up. He just didn't expect so many VR's at once I don't blame him. That gasless zealot attack could have meant archons tech

corrupters is what the protoss wants you to make.. he'll just add some voyd rays and they melt aswell.. this army can't be beaten in a straight up fight..
I feel like hydras are not too bad at killing interceptors, but TLO failed to control the carrier numbers, their number is getting ridiculous, you'd need exponentially more hydras

I guess you missed the nydus and attempts at attacking. Carriers just float around and push everything back.
That last game 4 showcases EXACTLY why carriers should be removed from heart of swarm. Zerg cannot deal with that number of carriers, if you don't kill them early with corruptors you just die.

lol at whitera starting to troll by going carrier. Also german casting makes me laugh harder than anything else. Wish TLO would have stuck with a race earlier, but honestly if I'd play any of my offrace I sure as hell wouldn't be that good compared to my main as tlo's zerg is compared to his terran.

corruptors.
What about the storms and stalkers right under the carriers and mothership? Not to mention you can vortex the corruptors.

No, corruptors absolutely demolish what WhiteRa is doing. TLO just isn't a good zerg unfortunately. He was sitting there fungal growthing interceptors and making random nyduses everywhere for no reason. There was a point where TLO could have just rallied in mass roach, ignored the like two carriers in the air, and just won.

lol corruptors win every game someone goes carrier. watch the mc game were he went carriers. i'm curious how you would go stalker and carrier and mothership with upgrades for all of them at the same time

Actually Stephano beat this the last time (vs WhiteRa, some months ago) with mass corrupters + mass infestators. Hydras aren't viable vs huge number of carriers because of their range.. He rolled over WhiteRa in one 200 vs 200 fight. Infestors really good.
Corruptors wouldve shut that down so easily. For those who don't believe me there's a game on Tal'darim Dimaga Vs White-Ra where White-ra does the exact same strat and it gets shut down by corruptors. Can't remember where I saw the game

Mass carrier ht stalker all with upgrades?
Well sure, if I go 200/200 archon with 3/3/3 you're probably going to lose too, but letting your opponent get there is the bigger error.
On January 10 2012 06:18 xs101 wrote: corruptors work vs small numbers of carriers, but once carriers reach critical mass, corruptors just melt.
that's wrong, corruptors are always very cost-efficient vs carriers, even in huge numbers Hydras always suck if the amount of carriers is to high, though.
This is kind of sad, TLO has the same problem as me, I get to rank 1, get frustrated and switch to zerg for awhile and get schooled random practice = random results
He's zerg for this game, unless white-ra decides to just go afk, TLO getting swept. By no means is Terran a guarantee of winning, but I think he may have a better chance if he returned to Terran.
WhiteRa beat TLO a little before he switched to Zerg in another show match.I wonder if WhiteRa can get good results in a big tournament with a real competition ?
I'm actually really disappointed in TLO's play. That game 5 was simply ugly. He didn't even try to use the mutas to snipe the colossi to stop the attack. Am I missing something? Did TLO just tech switched at a bad time...?

His ground army was to small to make sniping the colossi worth it, he was trying to clear the things that shoot up so his mutas coulf finish it but any way you slice it he didn't have enough stuff

He is just playin wrong in almost every game TLO just sits and waits until White Ra kills him After the failed canonrush TLO could have just played on two base and bust quite easily with banes and/or roaches
its a shame, whitera is such a good player but never wins anything, The way he dismantled nerchio the other day was impressive. Its obvious nerchio wasnt at his best, judging by his performance at HSC, but even still whitera played phenomenally and im guesing he did the same here

He won IPL2 and HSC2 and he was several high finishes. I think people are underestimating when they talk about how good he is with his special tactics - he's actually just overall a really good player. Definately one of the best in Europe.
The only thing I find surprising is that TLO actually won a single game. I really like the guy, but the truth is he has been playing oh so bad for the past few months. He always relied on gimmicky builds to carry him through, but that only worked early on.
I am very sad when reading all those pretty mean comments about TLO after this showmatch, because I honestly think he doesn't deserve them at all.
Don't get me wrong, TLO didn't play the best of his games, and he does not look totally adapted after switching to Zerg yet. However, the real reason why he lost so badly is because White-ra totally kicks ass in PvZ lately. Remember, Nerchio lost 4-0 to White-ra last week, and then moved on to win Socke and HerO (!) in HSC4.

He's not exactly playing bad, but there's a noticable gap in performance, thats true. But I wouldn't say that he has relied on gimmicky builds - even when playing random, even when playing creative, there was always a sense of stability to his play that's missing now. But considering his long break due to health concerns and his indecisiveness as to which race to play, this is no surprise.
As long as he's having fun playing and representing TL, though, all's fine.

Comments like this are very ignorant. TLO and WhiteRa were playing Bo5 showmatches on their stream regularly like 2 weeks ago and at some point the score (adding all played Bo5 games) reportedly was something like 33-33. The only thing to say here is of course that this was played on stream for fun, while this was for $$$.
Didn't Nerchio lose vs WhiteRa 4-0 not that long ago in showmatch aswell ? Do you call Nerchio a bad player ? I guess not, why this offense on TLO then ?
TLO ofcourse didn't played his best, but u gotta admit that WhiteRa's PvZ style with double stargate and pressure before that is really strong and well thought out.
i am sad for whitera because his pvz is doing so amazingly atm but hes not in any super huge tournaments to really show it off to the masses while earning major $ lol
WhiteRa played very good but that is no reason to bash on TLO - he can also play spectacular if he is given some margins. In my opinion TLO did one major mistake that set him in uncomfortable spot on most of the maps and allowed WhiteRa to dictate the game - he researched +1 Carapace that finished always at least 60(to 100) seconds after the 4wg pressure with +1 zealots had passed.
On January 10 2012 22:45 eYeball wrote: What was the result? I saw WhiteRa won some game with carriers. ^_^
One of the game was indeed mass-carrier where TLO responded with hydras which were just melting. Almost all other games though, White-Ra went with what I would say is now his standard PvZ: He FFEs and looks for a fast 3rd zerg base. He pressures the 3rd hard with zealots followed by several voidrays that hit the least defended base. If that doesn't outright wins him the game it still buys plenty of time to set up a third then he makes a colossus death ball with stalker and mothership support.
White Ra is arguably one of the best Protoss in Europe. For someone like TLO, whos switched race a few times, its going to be damn hard to win. He pretty sure with a few months of practice he'll definatly be on the same level.

Nerchio wasn't even supposed to play that showmatch. He just replaced Dimaga like one hour before the event. He had to go at HSC4 in 2-3 days, and I really doubt he tried his best in that showmatch.
Why reveal your builds for a $100 showmatch, when you have a very important tournament ahead?
That being said, people should look too much into that 4-0, Nerchio isn't that bad and he proved it.

Well for what it's worth, this is what Nerchio said in his own words:

Apparently this mod thought that I was some random person typing up a live report thread and then just never posted the results? (The results seen in the OP were not yet posted because I didn't have the replay pack to release yet.) That isn't the case lol, this was the original post to promote this showmatch o.O
