Hello everyone! IGN Pro League is happy to announce a new $10,000 team tournament featuring some of our best performers from the IPL Team Arena in the past few months, as well as a couple of new but very respectable challengers! If you are unfamiliar with the IPL Team Arena, check out the following links:

IPL Team Arena General Discussion thread

(Wiki)IPL Team Arena

The Teams!

  • SlayerS
  • Mousesports (mouz)
  • Quantic Incredible Miracle (QIM)
  • Team Dignitas
  • compLexity MVP (coLMVP)
  • Team Liquid
  • Millenium
  • Team ReIGN (RGN)

Note: To clarify, we did invite both Fnatic.MSI and Evil Geniuses to participate. Fnatic.MSI declined to join and there were scheduling issues with Evil Geniuses. We continue to have very positive relationships with both organizations and we will continue to work with them in the future.

The Format!

This tournament is a double-elimination bo9 winner's format. Each match will consist of five players from each team. Teams choose their first player blind, then the winner of the first game stays on to play a new player from the losing team. The winner of each game stays on until all five players from the opposing team have been defeated. This can result in an all-kill, where one player defeats all five of the opposing players in a row. It can also result in a reverse all-kill, where a team's anchor player can come back from 0-4 to win it all for their team!

If Team A loses to Team B in their first match, they will drop into the lower or losers bracket and will have another chance to fight their way to the finals. The grand finals will require the team coming from the lower bracket to win twice in order to become the champions, while the team coming from the winners or upper bracket will only need to win one bo9.

Prize Breakdown

  • 1st Place: $6,000 split between the team any way they see fit.
  • 2nd Place: $3,000
  • 3rd Place: $1,000

Schedule

As always, our live casts will begin at 5 p.m. PST, or 01:00 GMT (+00:00) each day and will begin on Monday, December 5th!
  • Monday, December 5th: SlayerS vs. Team Dignitas
  • Tuesday, December 6th: Mousesports vs. Millenium
  • Wednesday, December 7th: coLMVP vs. ReIGN
  • Thursday, December 8th: Quantic IM vs. Team Liquid
  • Sunday, December 11th: Lower Round 1 Match 1
  • Monday, December 12th: Lower Round 1 Match 2
  • Every day but Friday and Saturday until the grand final on Thursday, December 22nd!

this all depends if Slayers and IM and MVP use their ace players...maybe IPL should restrict them to their B team only =P

Sad EG is not going to be there. I also see Team Liquid beating Quantic IM because I doubt that mvp nestea etc. will wake up at ridiculous to play this.

The map pool seems outdated, and it doesn't include any maps from your own map making competition?

ReIGN did very well in our IPL Team Arena, defeating Evil Geniuses, Check Six, Vile, and compLexity Gaming in back to back weeks, losing only to Fnatic.MSI.

This is sick! :O

Does this mean that both partner-shipped teams can bring players to this event? (QIM = players from both teams, Liquid-oGs or Liquid only? coL-MVP = players from both teams?)

Why wasn't Team Empire invited. In the last 2 months they got First in GCPL over Eg/mouz/liquid/dignitas/fnatic/complexity, 2nd in the EGmasters cup over similar teams -liquid only losing to mouz 2-3 in the finals, 2nd in that russian/eastern/central europe team league IPTL finishing top of the round robin too http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Incredible_Panic_Team_League_Season_2

Along with mouz they are easily the best european team league team and they just picked up welmu.

compLexity MVP may use players from both compLexity and MVP, and Quantic IM may use players from both Quantic and IM. Team Liquid is on their own, without oGs players. This is a result of discussions with each of these teams when invitations were initially sent.

Edited for clarity.

Out of curiosity, how exactly is this nature of partnerships determined or even known by a third party organization like IPL?

Do you just go by what has been said in the public announcements or do the teams themselves decide what kind of roster they will use or do you have insight in the partnership contracts?

When you use the term "allowed", it would just be nice to know what the exact criteria is. The way you phrased it, that criteria is suspicious to say the least.

I'm pretty sure Liquid would go alone anyway, but oGs-TL was already an official GSTL team so I find it weird that they wouldn't be allowed by some tournaments to compete as a single team again if they chose to do so.

This.

I'm very confused by this, as oGs-TL appears, to me at least, to have the best partnership when it comes to things like this, having already competed under the same banner in the GSTL.

When sending invitations, we asked Team Liquid as an individual team if they would like to participate, and they accepted. In the future, if they want to attend as a combination of oGs and Team Liquid, we will allow it. It just didn't happen for this tournament.

To be honest i would doubt TL would use the oGs players (its not their style. Well maybe max 1 and definitely not MC) but they should be allowed such a possiblity at least.

When sending invitations, we asked Team Liquid as an individual team if they would like to participate, and they accepted. In the future, if they want to attend as a combination of oGs and Team Liquid, we will allow it. It just didn't happen for this tournament.

So, does this mean you asked QxG if they wanted to participate with IM, same with complexity and MVP?

If so, that seems kind of weird to ask those two teams and not Liquid.

edit: I am not saying Liquid would accept or need it or anything. I am just wondering why you would give a privilege to two teams, but not a third, if what I ask is true.
I like..

We asked each team separately, and they agreed with each other to play under one banner as they are technically partnered to be the same team. coLMVP and QIM are two competing teams, not four separate teams. There are only 8 spots available, so it makes sense for these partnered teams to combine for the sake of inclusion.

The results will depend on how series the Korean counterparts of the teams will take it.
If they decide to send their b-teamers to give them a bit more airing time, the non-Korean teams will definitely have a shot!

of the four GSTLs, Slayers has been in the finals for two, IM has been in the finals for two, and one final was slayers vs. IM. I think there is a good change this finals will be slayers vs IM because there are fewer korean teams. however, MVP (who was also in the finals for two GSTLs) will give them a run for their money. we'll see though.

Yeah, then SlayerS made some poor decisions in sending out people during Season 1. Hopefully, this time around, we see an epic (eg?)SlayerS vs QIM finals.

Think about it, there are only 8 spots available and although Empire is one of the best foreign teams in team competitions, they are also probably the one who pulls the least amount of viewers since I'd consider them still as one of the lesser known teams, at least in the NA scene (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm simply assuming). It's no surprise that IGN wants to go with Millenium, ReIGN, Liquid or dignitas.

With no GSL aside from the Blizzard Cup, and a prize pool comparable to the GSTL open seasons, I think we might see more A-teamers from Slayers and QIM. Slayers-QIM finals!

Bit odd to pair the partner-teams together as it gives them a huge advantage with some many good players to choose from. Other than that, I am very much looking forward to this.

Hmm I'm surprised to see so many people predicting coL over ReIGN. I guess coL has Naniwa now, but ReIGN is still pretty damn solid.

Regardless, this team league is very exciting. I really like team leagues, and hopefully this will build up to the point where during the next IPL they have the two top teams play each other before the individual tournament starts. The obvious downside is that some teams couldn't fly their entire roster in, and even just flying in a large chunk may be too much for a team like SlayerS.

Having Stephano, the winner of IPL 3, made a very strong case for Millenium. I won't get into why we picked each team, but we know Empire has a strong lineup of great players. Many teams who did not get picked also have very strong lineups.

Really sad to see a $10,000 tournament held for what is only 8 teams and smaller teams were not even considered. There are a ton of great teams out there that do well against the more "popular" teams that would be amazing and someone like IGN could really pitch the underdog story if they wanted to take the time to do it...but I understand I suppose. Either way, glad to see a team tournament though as I think more are needed. Best of luck as usual.

Dont get me wrong i love to watch Stephano play, but this is a team arena and if Stephano makes an error his team will probably get allkilled which doesnt really provide for great entertainment. While inviting teams with a huge backbone can keep bo9's interesting till the last set.

Along with mouz they are easily the best european team league team and they just picked up welmu.

I'm pretty sad about this as well, I understand that in invite only tournaments someone is always going to get snubbed, but I cant help but feel bad that placing 1st and 2nd in two of the most prominent team league events outside of Korea cant earn you a spot in an invitational. I'm not sure what criteria was used for the invites and I'm still excited for the event, but I really feel bad for Empire not getting a shot at playing.

I thought your post should have be a haiku, so I made it a haiku. I also think that coL-MVP should do very well in this tournament, so that was part of the motivation of this post too-- it was mostly the haiku part though.

It's super lame Empire wasn't given a spot, considering they are beasting hard lately and are much stronger than most of the teams on your invite list. :|
I don't see at all how it can be a hard decision to give them an invite or not, unless it was only slayers/mvp spots that were up for grabs.

Guys... there is a limited # of spots available, and more than 8 teams that deserve to be in the league. By definition, some great teams will get left out. Most likely the reason a team like Empire was left out was because their accomplishments are very recent, and these invites were sent out over a month ago... so their EGMC 2nd place and GCPL 1st place didn't get taken into account.

Empire is an amazing team, so don't let anyone say anything else. Even I doubted Empire in the past, but they proved me wrong!

Also... the reason we declined to participate in the league is because we currently only have 4 players on our roster (plus me and an inactive JF)... and since the league is KOTH style, and bo9 format... we'd need 5 people on at the same time, which in our current circumstances is impossible. NightEnD is in Europe, and ToD is in Korea, with KawaiiRice in the USA, and Rain going back and forth between Korea and USA -- it was not possible for us to participate in the league

Sorry to those who wanted to see us play.

I really don't understand why Mill was invited back. They already tried once and they basically just ragequit their matches (or 'sleeping') and gave up before all the games were played. Plus they really can't hold a candle to any of the other teams in this line-up.

An EG or something would be more competitive (assuming they weren't invited but declined), even if EG had to replace one of their big 3 with someone else on the squad.

Ah well, sweet setup nonetheless. Really looking forward to these matches and I am quite interested in who QIM is going to field as Liquid's fate will depend largely on it. If it is more Quantic heavy then Liquid should handle the games quite easily but if there are several IM players it will be a very difficult match.

edit: Saw that EG had scheduling problems. My point still stands however.

I am really hoping that this Team Arena challenge is just the beginning of bigger and bigger things, similar to IPL1, which was the genesis of IPL. I really hope that IPL can set up a premier teamleague that could possibly one day rival the GSTL. With IPL running it, I would definitely watch

Liquid has been posting great results as of late. With the addition of Zenio, they're going to have an awesome line up. HayprO and Zenio have both shown that they are capable of handling Mvp. Ret has been placing high in all the tournaments he played in. TLO, Tyler, and Jinro are never really players to be taken lightly. And of course, Liquid still has HerO to field. I'm confident Liquid will be able to do very well against QIM.

If Liquid were able to field oGs members, playing under the oGsTL banner, I'd be almost certain that they'd take the entire tournament. theStC, SuperNoVa, and TOP are Terran players that would greatly supplement Liquid's lineup. Then there's MC and NaDa...

I wonder if MC and NaDa's partnership with SK gaming would allow them to play in a joint oGs-TL team? O_O

Some of these may have been played before Zenio joined....but still Liquid has a chance, though theyre up against QIM first.

They stated that they JUST invited Team Liquid, and that oGs players are not part of that as the aprtnership between liquid and oGs is different then QIM or CoLMVP

Awesome lineup! Everyone is complaining about team X not being included but people should focus on the great teams that ARE included. Thanks IGN and IPL! Rooting for Liquid! Would it be possible to let us know approximately when the games were played? Just an approximate time range. Before MLG Providence?

I thought your post should have be a haiku, so I made it a haiku. I also think that coL-MVP should do very well in this tournament, so that was part of the motivation of this post too-- it was mostly the haiku part though.

However, this looks absolutely amazing!!!!! REally love the effort IPL is putting into SC2 and i'll definitely tune in for this!!!!

QIM, or even colMVP? Slayers is a favorite along with QIM and colMVP in my opinion, but they will have to work for it and use their A-team.

I feel that even if Liquid plays Zenio, they will not have enough depth to play against teams like QIM or Slayers. Mouz has a similar problem, with a lineup of only 5 players. But even their problems with team depth are nothing compared to Millenium (essentially Stephano and some other guys).

RGN does have some strong players in Artist and Inori, while dignitas has Sjow and Select who are pretty good players, but I do not see either of these teams beating the Korean Big 3 (Slayers, QIM, or colMVP), though they could certainly take out mouz, Liquid or Millenium

Damn, too bad EG can't do it. I've been wanting to see them stack up against some Korean teams.

Out of foreigner teams mouz has the best shot, but slayers should take this. Sick idea though by ipl. Super pumped to watch this.

Picking Millenium instead of Empire is a "wtf moment" for sure. Millenium's players acted like a bunch of thugs when they played against the Slayers team -- in an IPL sponsored event nonetheless -- that alone should've been enough to have them banned from IPL team arenas for a substantial period of time. On the other hand Empire rolled over pretty much every western team in the last couple of months and have shown the highest level of professionalism and etiquette at the same time. What were you guys thinking???

It seems that the eSports division at IGN does value Millenium even though they forfeited a game. Somehow some of them are not narrow-minded like all the stone-thrower and pitchfork-thrusters who like to consider themselves as rightfully entitled to have everything their way.

In a word ? Deal with it.

Yeah its very narrow minded to simply look at results.Which Empire as a team has WAY more (even more than Liquid, EG) and not get invited just because they are not as well known as Stephano in the US. Its better to be critical than a mindless drone.

I think they just valued Stephano.. Millenium has no name recognition as a team outside of France, except perhaps for two incidents
1. The almost criminal-like behaviour when they re-signed Stephano in a flagrant breach of contract
2. The lousiness and BM attitude of their players in team leagues.

Sure, call me narrow-minded for wanting to have the better - in all possible ways - team competing in the league.

Empire has gotten 1st and 2nd in two strongest team leagues outside of GSTL.The only foreign team that is probably just better than them is mouz. They also have 4 players going to WCG finals. How does this team get not invited i have no idea. cause of the silly partnership deals Col and Qantic are good, Slayers and mouz are beasts, but the rest is at Empire if not bellow level. Going for name recognition over skill is not how esports should go. Besides- Eastern Europe is extremely active at esports and matches with our players get extra 5-6k just from Eastern Europe easy (when its likes of Kas, Dimaga, Brat-Ok, Happy, White-Ra)

I do think that Empire seems to be universally under rated for some reason, however using the 10-15 posts in this thread as proof of Empire demand seems a stretch.

Anyway, it is 8 spots and no matter what there would be upset over some team or the other not being included.

I like Millenium, the team and all what they do for esport in France (you can't even imagine what llewelys did for esport) and today i'm sad to see them bashed everywhere on TL.

I just want to expose some points:

- The MilleniumTV streams like 10h a day with an average of 1,5k viewers and 4k for the bigger events like MSIprocup, Boblegob (a caster who did a 24h marathon streaming SWTOR) slept for 4hours last weekend in front of the screen and had like 700 viewers...

- They got a HUGE community of fans, maybe the biggest behind EG and TL, but they don't speak on TL mostly because a french do not speak english

- I cannot figure how they did to be as BM-related in TL. I think it is mostly because of lalush and Adel who are quite BM-ish but not more than Idra, Naniwa or Nerchio...

- They are currently first of the 4pl team league beating 4-1 Acer. Since Stephano + Stephano-Diestar 2v2 are unbeatable they are quite strong in a team league.

- Empire absolutly deserves a slot and i think they will got it next time thanks to your reactions, this was such an "underrated_team_by_américans_before_they_beat_EG", now they show to the world that you cannot ignore them but since the invitations were send a long time ago i don't blame IPL for not knowing Empire.

I hope Millenium will show us good-mannerism and will be invited to the next big team competition because i'm a fucking biased horrible Millenium french fan and everytimes you don't invite Stephano in an event a baby cat dies horribly.

You gotta spice it up a bit!

I just think that they have good, hard-working players who are very present and successful at least in the online tournament scene and yet, as beastyqt said in this thread, they almost never seem to make the cut when it comes to invites and I don't really understand why.

Even for GCPL - a league which they won in the end - Empire had to win a spot through qualifiers because they weren't invited in the first place (although that was more due to poor placement in the first season).

And that's just team leagues, I don't see Kas or beastyqt getting many invites for individual competitions as well, although Kas is possibly - in my opinion - the best Terran in Europe at the moment.

Millenium was a disgrace last time they participated in IPL Team thingy. Would much have preferred Empire over them, but oh well. Lets hope they actually bother to show up with a full team this time.

I honnestly don't think koreans involved with foreign teams will compete, or maybe 1 or 2 B team players.

$500 isn't enough to call out the big guns for koreans in the bounty team league they do, but this is a 10k prizepool. I think that's big enough to call out, mvp, nestea, drg, etc for those teams. However, they may still feel they don't need to call them out, since you'll recall the IM coach's wacky choices during gstl. I still seeing them using koreans though.

Yeah, its not even that all of us are huge fans of them, its that results show that they deserve to be one of the top invites to any team league at the moment

That makes sense. They have shown results.

Of course we will take considerations for peoples' wishes in the future. We read TL and Reddit all the time (it's all I did even before I worked here) and take suggestions constantly. I will tell you that this is a big event ($10k prize pool isn't a frequent thing) and we sent invites and tried to secure teams before Millenium vs. SlayerS was played AND before Empire won the other events. We didn't have all the information that we have available now to make our decisions with. As someone else stated, there are only 8 slots and no matter what, a team or two will be left out in the cold. We apologize, but please appreciate the tournament that we DO have and enjoy the games. =)

havent being seeing much hate besides this post. How else can people let know if they want something if they dont post it and evidence that their desires are justified? 1 guy saying something gets 0 attention, 10-20 warrant the post from IGN (who are awesome by the way, much love).

Liquid vs QIM?!?! Yeah!! I like the idea a lot! This looks amazing!
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

Now I understand that putting out such a team tournament with such a prize pool is a large step to take, but if this tournament is successful, which I see is very likely, could IPL please do some more of these types of tournaments? I think that the team aspect in SC2 is also very important, and would love to see a team league tournaments from the IPL.

Right now outside of Korea we have team tournaments like the EG Master's Cup and the GCPL, but if IPL were to run such a tournament, there would be huge interest, especially since other major tournaments like MLG, Dreamhack, IEM and NASL have not yet expanded into this "market".

Keep up the good work IPL!

I'm not saying this to hate on IPL because they've already been established as a Winner's League format, but I really wish someone out there would do a ProLeague format Team League.

Isnt EG Masters and Gosu coaching both pro league format? And anyways winner format is waaaaay more exciting when teams can come back from huge deficits, keeps you on the edge till the end.

Should be re-named "We fucked up in inviting SlayerS to our old league so we gotta do something new with a Korean team to challenge them" League

Joking of course, gonna be pretty awesome to see who comes out on top and with the prize pool, maybe the Korean teams won't shy away from using their ace players! (coughIM)

Question about the teams.
Will you guys kick Quantic or IM from the tournament since those teams have no longer a partnership?

Not only narrow minded but also insincere and jealous.

When you see idra rage quiting(in pro tournament also), saying shit and insults 23/24h on his stream HE IS A GOD.
When lalush rage quit and apologize on team liquid in a post HE IS A JERK.
When Naniwa left and rejoin 7 teams in less than a year and is ban of IEM events HE IS A GOD,
When stephano doesn't go to Complexity and rejoin Millenium HE IS A JERK(back in Wacraft 3 he was already with millenium) .

All this millenium drama is disgusting, just because they want to keep their best player...

You are not narrow minded for wanting the best teams, but for not knowing all the truth.

Thank you for bringing this tournament to my pc screen .

I admit I wasnt a huge fan of IPL in the beginning (your scheduling was originally non sensical), but over last few months you have really done a fantastic job. Love fight club, how you reacted to the Phillipine IPL qualiifer problems, the daily high quality content and am sure same for Team Arena.

I pay to watch GSL, NASL and MLG and considering how much of your stuff is free to watch and comparable or better than your competitors I can only salute your efforts for eSports and look forward to watching alot more.

ps good pick up with DOA. Consider Apollo he rocks

An you will have the right to do so sir And I will take the flogging in stride as it would mean I was wrong though thats only if it happens SlayerS Mouse Liquid, and even Complexity a bit seem just far too strong of teams for the others to contend with though that is only my opinion weather orn ot it's fact will be proven in the coming matchs

Actually take Dignitas out of that might get raped hard category I forgot they had SeleCT and Sjow which makes me rather disappointed in myself seeing as how SeleCT is one of my favorites to play SC2 lol xDD

Still, Dignitas are against the strongest team there initially. I wouldn't consider them a weak team at all, but they're still heavy underdogs against SlayerS. Of course, it's double elimination, so that's not the end.

I wouldn't say "even Complexity" given that it's CoL.MvP. If there's significant MvP involvement, they're an incredibly strong team.

What's up with all these teams forfeiting games? This is the second (at least) time that I've seen that happen, yet they're not taking it seriously. Put SeleCT or SjoW out there--they might not have the best chance to be honest, but you're playing for $10,000 dollars. That should take precedent over whatever they might be doing. I want to see the best players (well maybe not the best Koreans because that would be brutal), but we're not even seeing the top foreigners playing. Oh well, Bischu's PvP build was fun to watch at least (though had Crank just sent the Probe into his base he could have scouted and beaten it...)

I've been facepalming so much during the whole series that I'm actually somewhat happy that they forfeited.

The irony is that these guys that Slayers sent out are completely mediocre even by foreigner standards and don't do anything that any player on Dignitas roster can't do just as well. But they take it fucking seriously and they prepare if they're scheduled to play for they team.

Whereas Dignitas players and many others that have been sent out against Slayers in the IPL team events seem to be taking it like its a ladder game or something.

Very disappointing attitude. If you're not going to take the competition seriously and have your players actually prepare for it, don't join the tournament.

This is all good and all, but history shows that teams mostly send forth their b-teamers (even foreigner teams) to the Team Arena. I guess a bigger pot might make some of the teams take it a little more serious (plus cross-continental lag is a big disincentive too).

They played 4 players, and instead of sending out a 5th they forfeited the last match.

Dignitas did not send out Sjow or SeleCT, their best players.

I'll be honest, I think that Liquid might actually have a chance. Sheth and Ret are both fantastic players, plus Liquid might actually play their top players (HerO and Zenio) as opposed to the majority of Korean teams. If they play HerO, Zenio, Ret, Sheth, and (Z)Banjo, they could actually stand a chance.

I think I want Mouz to win (ThorZaIN fighting!), but at the same time my Liquid pride makes me root for them too. Hopefully we'll see some foreigners beat some Koreans!

First place is $10,000. That seems like plenty of incentive to take it seriously.

I'm assuming that you meant to write Liquid as opposed to Slayers. Slayers has the biggest chance to win.

Good catch, thanks! And yeah SlayerS probably has the best chance, but hopefully we'll actually see GanZi or MMA or somebody who isn't Crank, Golden, or Lots.

Two scenarios where that is likely:

1. A team manages to get 3 wins or push Slayers to an ace match, and they will respond with the big guns. Last time this happened was against Tyloo, Alicia was sent out, but the score was 4-4. If the score were 2-4 or 3-4 against Slayers (hard to imagine 0-4 or 1-4 for Slayers unless QIM sends out MVP first or col-MVP sents out DRG first), expect to see a top player.

2. Slayers plays a team they respect or feels is a threat. When mouz challenged Slayers, Slayers sent out their A-team largely due to their respect for Thorzain as a player and as an individual that had lived with Slayers. We have not really seen the A-team since (Alicia is kind of ambiguous). Of course, Mouz is back, as is col-MVP and QIM. Expect to see A-teamers in this match-up.

Considering the SlayerS lineup, Alicia isn't really a big gun anymore. He's maybe fighting for the title of third best protoss on the team with SocceR and Crank behind Brown and Puzzle. Then look at the terran and zerg lineup and you see he probably isn't near the A-team.

pretty much this^

i can only hope that the remaining games are taken more seriously and no more forfeits happen. This should be a great and interesting tournament if the teams would just play out all the games they're suppose too. It'd also help if the players would stop putting up such lackluster performances vs koreans

Honestly though, can you blame them? Compare the two.

SlayerS B-teamers that aren't in the GSL devote all their time to either practicing or a few small group of tournaments (ESV Weekly, this, maybe KSL... but that's about it).

Foreigners devote their time to: work/school, one of the 50 million online cups, streaming for a bit of income, coaching every now and then, LANs every week etc. etc.). I mean it varies by foreigner, but they don't have the time luxury that SlayerS b-teamers probably do.

But yes, I do agree 100%. SlayerS B-teamers taking this seriously. Foreigners aren't. Result is a pummeling every time.

In light of the separation of QIM, will Quantic Gaming be participating by itself? Or will they still be using players from IM?

What? Golden has been slamming players and it looks like he's just playing a reactionary style aka ladder. If by prepare, you mean practice, then yeah, but I highly doubt these guys have any idea what type of players Dignitas has outside of Select and Sjow. I mean, hell, Golden even lost his 3rd because he literally had 0 spores up and a lair only halfway done. When you go like 20-1 in this league you're outclassing your opponents, not outpreparing.

Wondering this myself, i doubt they use players together considering ther abrubt breakup.

Also Liquid vs Slayers was a prity fun matchup last time around, weather it's B team or not those are top koreans that prepare 100% for such a team league, because they can. Unlike the MMA's etc.

Quantic CEO Mark "Together, we will complete our immediate participatory competition obligations that remain"

This tournamnet was announced a day before the breakup, so they said they're going to still play this tournament together. Maybe IPL should put notice up on OP... a lot of people asking this.

Seriously, based on results there shouldn't even be a discussion whether to invite empire or not, they would be easily in top 4 of the invited teams. Looks like IPL only invited teams that were already invited to regular team arena, which makes the fact that empire wasn't there yet even a bigger shame.

I'm surprised so many fell for the troll post by beastyqt several pages ago. :D

I disagree with all people calling those who SlayerS sent to play in IPL recently B team players, if you take a look at current SlayerS roster you just have to draw the conclusion that most of them are C team. Gogo SlayerS! :>

Just shut up seriously. You don't have any information to make judgements like this, nor do you have any right to assume how much each of us in dignitas prepared for our games. Each one of our players takes all games they play seriously and it's not something we look at and go "meh". I understand that us forfeiting the 5th game was disappointing and I can't do more than apologize for that but don't spew bullshit like this without any information whatsoever.

I don't get the attack on our attitude really, given the situation we were in, we did the best we could've done with what we had to work with at that time. Now I understand it's disappointing that SeleCT and SjoW didn't play, but you don't know the background about how we were approached about the tournament, how much prior notice we were given, and how much time we had to work with after being told that we were playing. So just stop.

Playing Starcraft is their work, and IPL team league is as big as it gets if you exclude MLG and GSL. Not taking it seriously for whatever reason is like me saying I can't take my college seriously because of my guitar classes and working out.

Ok your right we don't know what factors might of taken a part of this but if they really were so extreme why accept the invite in the first place. No one made you sign up for this Tournament and frankly there were other teams that could of taken the spot. Signing up for a tournament then saying we didn't have time too prepare and have five guys ready to fight so we forfeited is unacceptable. You can't commit than don't and just accept the tournaments were you can atleast have the required amount of guys compete.

This probably sounds rather harsh but for a tournament like this to have a chance of repeating they need to do well in veiwership and nothing kills that more than a forfeit. It was your duty as a signed up team to send some one any one in there even if it was to lose. even a disappointing ending like that is way better than a forfeit.

I don't think any of us that aren't pros, and aren't privy to what was going on behind the scenes, are in a position to make judgement's on Dignitas. I mean, how many of you really think they WANTED to forfeit?

Maybe the next player up had a bout of diarrhea or something. Yeah, that's meant to be kind of funny and contrived, but who the hell are we to judge or know?

I've never seen Dignitas take anything "not seriously" or make a decision like this just off the cuff. Obviously something happened, and I think we owe them the benefit of the doubt that they had a fifth player lined up and something changed very last minute.

Completely right. If the Dignitas team could not physically play all games, they should have let the organizers know and cancel beforehand, NOT go halfway and skip the last game. I don't care how much prior notice you were give or how much time you had to work with, as an organized team there is no excuse for not having your players ready to play games. Your team deserves all the attacks it is taking right now, especially given that you try to pass of its actions as legitimate.

Bottom line, don't take an invitation you can't fulfill. Basic kindergarten promise keeping.

Oh, my achin' hands, from rakin' in grands, and breakin' in mic stands

It seems the games were played months ago, way before they broke up.

So much content from IPL, really enjoying this. Can't wait to see Dignitas vs Millenium.

As we've said repeatedly, this is not true, they are just still honoring their agreement with us.

I think the format and the excitement was through the roof, a very enjoyable event and I really hope it comes back.

However, I do not think that partner teams should sign up as one team. As it basically makes it two against one for those without a partner. Not to mention that in no other sport does partner teams ever play as one team.

It is also kinda silly when you see a team called ColMVP and there isn't a single Col player to be seen participating.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.
