The better Protoss does, the worse Zerg does. Terran is always fine.

I find it hilarious that in terms of balance discussion, P and Z are always at war whilst Terran is just trolling around.

MLG: Puma is going to play a consolation for 7th place now. If he wins that, he makes Top 16 at MLG Providence.
If he loses his consolation, InControl will be in the Top 16 at Providence.

playing who for consolation?

Loser of HongUn/Idra

When IdrA loses he will 100% give PuMa the win, most of the time nobody shows up to the consolation matches anyway

giving puma the win so his teammate wont be seeded next mlg? That would be kind of bad mannered :S

yeh but it's an obv choice, EG is smart to send the player who got the best a chance of winning which is Puma

Yeah I mean PuMa, idra and huk are way ahead of their EG counterparts.

Boxer got fucked over by the stupid extended series. Pisses me off.

...how is extended series stupid? -.-

For pool play, it's pretty stupid.

If anything, Boxer was helped by the fact that it was double elimination and that he didn't auto-lose from getting 2-0ed by IdrA lol

Why do people QQ about this format every tournament -.-' Get over it, people.

Final score between IdrA and Boxer is 4-3 Idra. That means Boxer loses.

Because Idra is already rewarded with higher seeding, is automatically moved further into the tourney, gets an unfair 2-0 advantage in a second series that should be considered completely separate because it's championship losers bracket not the seeding pool. How hard is that to understand?

if you beat someone once, you shouldn't have to play them again. However, sometimes this happens. For these situations, the onus is on the losing player to show that he is superior, and the way to do that is come back when you're down in a bo7.

Beating someone in a fair contest shows you're superior in that contest. Going 3-2 also shows you are superior, but in this case, you still lose.

Just think of it as a internal losers bracket, IdrA eliminated BoxeR, but he falls to the losers bracket, so when they meet again, they given IdrA an advantage for beating him already, by having the extended series.

Man I can't believe idra held that 16 hellion attack.. on such a wide choke it's just unbelievable without roaches. That's what requires skill and not 2 rax nonsense where everyone in gold league can pull of.

So anyone in gold league can hold off that build, but Slayers Boxer cannot? You're obviously a highly intelligent individual aren't you.

idra didnt hold the attack off, boxer failed the attack. if you were watching the same game as me, it's simple to see.

How? Idra played as best as you can there. What boxer could have done there? Idra had banelings, lings, lots of spine crawlers and EXTRA queens to block/harass those hellions.

When he got into the main with the hellions, Idra blocked Boxer's way with the hellions brilliantly, placing his queens right, and keeping his zerglings ready.

Either i'm fucking blind, but really, Boxer didn't exactly fail that attack. Idra just defended it as best as you could have.

IdrA defended it very very well but Boxer did miss some opportunities to kill drones.
And that may be the scariest part... Had Boxer's macro not slipped, had he researched blueflammes, that game might have looked a lot different....
I'll have to watch the replay, but I'm 90% sure his macro didn't slip rather his reactors were still building hence couldn't make units.

Also with 16+ hellions, blueflame does nothing but overkill.

WRONG hellions don't overkill, just like siege tanks and marines. they will look for another target if the victim is going to die

On Incontrol and Puma:

Incontrol will almost certainly be seeded for Providence because it almost a certainty that several players with higher seeds will not attend. Several seeded players have always failed to attend MLG, and even though Providence will be a more important tournament, it's almost inevitable some Koreans will either have a conflict or they will not have the sponsorship to attend.

Providence has such a big prize pool I doubt any Koreans will skip it.

InControl gets another spot, so you can either hope he improves, or you can hope he's sorry enough for his performance to not attend(Which won't happen, since EG pays anyway and even if he wasn't seeded, he'd attend the open).

I think everyone will show up for Providence.

hmmm, what will happen if it is puma vs idra...? XD

Isn't IncontroL at a 0% winrate at the last 3 MLGs? The system is fucked up if you can go 0-30 and still qualify.

pretty sure he always wins one game in the championship bracket and that keeps him in. Ive heard him say that before and i seem to remember him usually winning 1 game after pool play.
