And that decade would have been a total flop if Boxer didn't prove the viability of professional gamers by defending them at the world championships. If he had lost, the sponsors would have treated pro gaming as a joke (losing to people who treat it as any other pasttime). We'd all be watching people play shooters or other boring crap if anything at all.
And Idra not gg'ing has been a constant issue. Every instance has been bad, not just this one. If you think it's unnecessary, then you're obviously not taking esports seriously enough. This is just another indication of how far behind we are from Korea. If the players and fans don't think it's important to make the scene BETTER than your average shit-talking, juvenile, Halo scrumfest, then why should the potential sponsors or future fans over the age of 12? It doesn't help that the foreigner flagship player promotes this kind of behavior. Though I find that to be in question. Off the top of my head, I think Thorzain and Naniwa could make a case for being the best foreigners.
EDIT: Watch real sports and recognize the enforced sportsmanship. Fines get handed out. There are signed contracts for media handlers. Any slips get huge amounts of press slamming the offending player. Even the coaches aren't immune. They get shit on if they don't shake hands. Then there's the inevitable apology, not cause they want to. It's in the contract.
The NBA is the worst at this (probably contributes to their "thug-league" image) but look at the NFL, NHL, tennis, soccer, mma etc. Even the NBA carefully controls player message in the press conferences. You think they're that civil on the court?
Stop comparing esports to the NBA, NFL, and the like if you want to prove that those leagues have better sportsmanship. There's so much trash-talking and completely out of line things that are said in all the sports I watch, and literally everyone turns a blind eye. Kevin Garnett on the Boston Celtics regularly screams obscenities at his opponents and to nobody in particular so often that camera crews can't do a close up of his face for longer than 2 seconds. Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots has a habit of not shaking other coaches' hands, REGULARLY. There's so much BM in hockey I don't even think it's worth it to bring up a point to prove it.
No, you're wrong, in nearly all competitive environments you always have people who are rotten apples and they show lack of sportsmanship. The vast majority of SC2 pros are good mannered, and that's the important thing. Focusing on the ones that aren't just contribute to their image, and make them more popular than the guys who are repeatedly good mannered.

I think I already pointed out how little I think of the NBA. But you just made my point about how the NBA controls its image. Yes, they basically have to take extra censorship measures because it's so hard to control the players. Do you see any of that stuff at pressers? No.
Belichick is the IdrA of the NFL. He gets away with it because he's good and his owner will bend over backwards to accomodate him. He's also the most hated coach outside of Boston. The media rips him all the time.
Hockey? Really? I find it one of the most mannered sports. They are the most regimental about shaking hands and making nice after a game.
The point is most sports have setup some sort of institution to police themselves. There are usually contractual obligations players have to live up to. Esports doesn't have that luxury so the fans and players have to decide what's acceptable themselves. Looking at all the instances of bad behavior out there, what hasn't been consistently called out and slammed? It's a constant process. What's bad would be ACCEPTING that behavior as some kind of norm. Esports will never get taken seriously at that point.
There's always rotten apples, I'm not denying that. But most of the time, they're reviled for it, not praised and made into the face of the sport. I'd bet you Lebron has more haters than fans. Idra has more fans than haters.

How is it acceptable to not gg the legend of starcraft, a guy who's in the esport industry for more than 10 years and one of the most respectable progamer? There's no point to make it an edrama but it sure is a pathetic move.

they really should've cranked up ingame sounds and music with these two casters... they don't build up any hype nor excitement for/in the matches

Gratz Tyler, very nice timing, that was really good.

Ok Gretorp I'm sure +2 building armour would have saved the day.
|
nothing special, just a 2 base timing attack with only gateway units.
until then he sat in his base and did nothing, he didnt even scout. dont hype the game, it was nothing special.

What I think was a 3gate expo with lots of sentries, lost about 6/7 sentries before his 2 defensive cannons finished, then while Cloud went for lots of upgrades on only 2 rax behind bunkers Tyler went for early storm and got 8 gateways. Then he killed Cloud.

Figures ... I missed the Tyler Cloud matches last night ... I get back and the restream is at "Coming Up Next Zenio vs PainUser"

it does exist. It even doubles the capacity of command centers and planetary fortresses to 10 allowing you to float a whole base to an island without starport tech.

I'm 99.99% sure it doesn't exist in multiplayer. I'm a Zerg player though.
