Not cause of the quality of games (they were awesome!), but because of the major problems that the NASL system has. Select threw away a game to benefit from the seeding, which is really bad, and should never take place. There should always be an incentive to win. More importantly, MC got an unfair seeding advantage by getting a free win. Whoever played Select last would be guaranteed a win, whereas in all the other games of the season Select was playing the games to win. MC's free win puts him at advantage, seeding wise over lots of other players in the tournament. Admittedly, it's not an actual problem, and I doubt that there will be major repercussions from this, but it does show the disaster that is NASL pool play format. BUT! We got to BCs and Carriers. So I'm happy.
Lol it was MC. Unfair seeding advantage? He is the best player in the tournament (some people might argue but I doubt it), he's playing cross-server. In the lan setting his seeding is irrelevant, he'll probably crush face. If he had done it to someone else I would be pretty annoyed as well though, but it's hard to say if SelecT would blatantly throw games like that if it was some other NA player.

#1 seed has to play the winner of the giant open bracket.

That's just player mentality thinking the open tourney winner will be a strong opponent compared to a lower seeded NASL player. That may or may not be true, you can't know. Personally I think the open winner will be incredibly good, but what are you going to do, give him a #1 seed instead of a last place seed? You can't just plop him in the middle seeds either. It only makes sense to give him a last place seed.

In future seasons better players will filter into division play and worse players will filter out, so it will become less and less of an issue.

IMO, they should allow #1 to #8 seeds pick their opponents in order from #9 to #16 seeds. That would lead to people actually caring for their seed.
