[NASL] Players (final) - Page 54
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

NA in NASL refers to the finals location, not the nationalities of the players. Bam, done and they have to come up with some other shit to continue their argument. :p

Not that there aren't good players in it, but the real top of the top is still missing and there are plenty of players with next to no achievements (minus artosis, he's awesome.).

I love Artosis, what can I say. He deserves to be in this league more than anyone else. He is one of the reasons why we can play/watch Starcraft II for these amounts of money.

Are you seriously suggesting players outside of NA should be overlooked because the viewing hours are inconvenient in their home country? What utter nonsense is that? The North American part in the name is there because the tournament is organised by those in NA and the LAN finals will take place there. It has nothing to do with the nationality of participants. If NASL was going to invite only the top players, then they should invite only the top players. Why should I watch top Koreans beat "bottom of the barrel" NA and EU players when I can watch GOM and see the best in the world? If they are just going to fill the brackets with Koreans and the few foreigners who can make it in Korea, why not just copy GOM's brackets and restream at American times? The nationality of the participants is very relevant, because the events will be held during prime time in NA and will be held at a location in the US that becomes more difficult for spectators to travel to (assuming they plan on expanding to live events, which they inevitably will if they plan on being successful). Maybe competitive SC2 players don't care about who is playing as long as it's the best players, but if you want more than just a few thousand hardcore SC2 fans to watch your events you need to reach out to a broader market. Casual SC2 fans probably don't care as much that the best players in the world are competing, that's what GOM is already doing. Casual players want names and personalities they can identify with and root for. They want a personal connection to the sport. Yes there is the World Cup, the US Open, the Olympics, etc., but there is also the Superbowl and the Stanley Cup. It's not a coincidence that the Superbowl is the most watched televised event in the US, and I assume the same or similar is true for the Stanley Cup game in Canada.

However from an objective point of view, it is undeniable that there are going to be some exlcuded players who deserve this spot over artosis, because they have more achievements, more skills, or more dedication during practice. I can see why you think that, but I disagree, especially the dedication part.

and Drewbie and Kas <3 Artosis... but he shouldn't be the person most closely associated with code S in the NASL. There are 50 AMAZING Korean players, Ace and Moon, would be in the bottom part of that 50. We need some of the top 10 Koreans, some top 25 Koreans, and some top 50 Koreans... not all Koreans are the same (despite the debates). To not have 10 or more Koreans, its a slap in the face of serious fans and Koreans to say this is the "best players in the world" Unless some western tournament integrates with top tier Korean talent, I'm not going to be seeing the games that most interest me and I'm never going to believe that western e-sports is keeping pace. Right now NASL is like IEM, without Squirtle.

Relevant info: Artosis is still not on any team, so either he will announce he's joined a team soon or NASL has broken with their team requirement. Artosis had a big announcement to make on Monday. I predicted in the live report from the GSTL finals that it would be him joining a team. I am guessing Liquid but I am not certain, could be EG as well. But I put my money on Liquid. Correct me if I'm wrong but I doubt that Artosis trains more than 2 hours /day. Artosis plays at least 5 hours a day, and the 5 hours a day he plays counts for 7. Because he knows more about the game than a newcomer would. So he can train better/faster. There is no doubt. Artosis will rape face!
