It's because most people expected MC to win both, and to beat Thorzain like he did against Kas. The fact that he lost to Thorzain is a bigger deal, since no one expected as such. I suppose no one also expected MC to 4-0 Kas, but I'm pretty sure most expected him to at least win a BO7.

Edit: Also, this is a foreigner forum. There is obviously going to be bias (and rightfully so...no shame in rooting for fellow countrymen and such).

One big difference is that Kas didn't have time to prepare against MC while Thorzain did have lots of time.

Same goes for MC.

My point was that Thorzain was able to come up with a build and strategy, most likely tailored for each map, that he thought would work against MC, and it paid off. Can't say the same for MC who was participating in multiple tourneys. The fact that he got knocked out of the group stage in GSL should tell the story. But, ultimately MC has no one to blame but himself as he put himself in that predicament.

Thorzain won not because he was purely more talented and awesome than MC, but because he had sufficient time to beat him with his builds and overall strategy. Can't really say the same for MC who's had probably the busiest schedule of all SC2 gamers out there in a span of last few months. If Kas had the time to prepare against MC (while MC did not), then I'd bet that Kas would win.

Lastly, MC is no fool. He knows that it's only a matter of time until Bliz comes with more patches. I'm pretty sure that he knows he's going into the tourney blindly (ie, no time to prepare against each opponent) and is counting on his protoss power more so than some of you realize. He wants to rack up as much as tourney money as he can until the game gets more balanced, and that's just a smart move by him.

No, and I think you completely missed my point.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you're implying in your final paragraph.

His point was not 'mc wins because he's toss' but rather 'MC can enter any tournament he wants with little preparation and probably win because he's God and he's Protoss'.

Do you see the difference here? If you actually read his entire post it's about time management and that MC is cramming his plate with a lot of events, and for now can get away with it. If/when a Toss nerf comes, MC will need to prepare for his matches just like everyone else and thus will be unable to enter so many tournaments at once or he'll lose a lot more often. He already lost to Thorzain largely for this reason, although we all know what Thorzain can do now, so i'm actually happy for that. The kid is good, want to see more of him in big tourneys!

No one else can do this right now. MC is in a very enviable position as a pro player and i hope he's rolling in the money. He is wise to do this right now as it's a well which could dry up if the nerfbat strikes and he has to manage his time like other pro gamers do. Then he'll go back to entering less tournaments and focusing harder on GSL, and winning again because he's amazing.

I hope he can wear the top hat in the GSL booth. Someone get him a monocle.
