A reclusive zerg master goes up against a powerful and skilled protoss in what looks to be a fantastic round 1 matchup. As with most of the players in our tournament, neither of these players really needs introduction, but for those who don't know, both of these players were skilled StarCraft 1 players who are now great StarCraft 2 players representing two of the best teams in the foreigner scene right now. ROOTSheth's accomplishments include winning 2 GosuCoaching weeklies and several ITL championships and might at some point include actually making it to a LAN event! EGInka is probably most recently known for his absolutely epic and amazing 4-3 series against the great terran player Fenix at MLG Dallas, after starting down 2-0. Good luck to both players!
ROOTKiwikaki finished the MLG circuit second overall in points and came within a tiny margin of placing into the round of 64 for the GSL. Gretorp is a known innovator and practitioner of extremely solid Terran play who did consistently well in the MLG circuit. How he finds time to play so much in between bopping clowns I'll never know but it is clear he is an inspiration to many Terrans both back in the beta and now. Good luck to both players!
We will have three matches streamed on Monday, starting with a match from the upper bracket for the round of 16, then a match from the lower bracket for the round of 16 and finally a match from the quarter-finals. On Tuesday Dec 14 we will be casting all matches - the semi-finals, championship match and 3rd place match. For the matches we do not stream there will be a replay pack available.
A big thank you goes out to our sponsor, http://www.justin.tv, please visit them and check out their great stream selection! ROOT Gaming and Justin.tv looks forward to providing you all with some great quality matches and an exciting tournament. We hope you all tune in next Monday and Tuesday to catch the action!

Your detective skills astound me.
Yes. That must be exactly what they are doing. Look at them scheming and rigging their own tournament. EGinka and Fnatic Gretorp... Why, they surely know nothing about starcraft.

If you ever run a team, please don't ever be in charge of a tournament with them involved, because by your logic, they should play idra or nestea in the first round. We're going to pick matchups that won't bore the masses, and we're going to pick ones that have some great competition.
With that said, would you really watch if we picked 8 cupcakes to play our ROOT boys? Obviously that would spoil the integrity of the game - when the matchups are released, please let all of us know who we've stacked the deck against - I'm sure he (and I) would love to know.
An incredible match between one of the top zergs and top terrans of our day should prove to be fantastic to watch! Both of these players have performed exceptionally well and both are easily capable of running the table on the entire tournament. What immediately comes to mind, even moreso then Painuser's impressive finish at MLG Dallas, is both of these player's runs in the loser's bracket at DC, where both kept defeating opponent after opponent while playing on the razor's edge of elimination! Painuser is repping Lazerus Gaming and we hope to see a great series from these two players!
Lower Bracket Wednesday Match-Up Reveal!
ROOTCatz vs EGIncontrol
The match of the century? Maybe, maybe not, but there is no doubting that this will be a titanic match-up between two of the biggest and most recognizable names in StarCraft 2 right now. EG vs ROOT. SOTG vs SUP DOODS. Protoss vs Zerg. It's going to be epic, ladies and gentlemen!
I actually got a press release from ROOT this morning about this tournament, and did a quick write up about it for gosutrolling.com.
I'm really, really looking forward to this tournament. I think the timing is impeccable; it'll give us something to look forward to between the GSL semis and finals.
And, let's be honest: Catz v. Incontrol? That's going to be sick. I'm not going to miss that match for the world.
ROOT brings out their secret terran weapon for this match, and even though Fayth keeps pretty quiet in terms of tournaments, he is a very good ladder player who plays very intelligently. We will see if he can translate his famous poker skills to this matchup! Ryze comes repping Stratyk Gaming and is one of the very top zergs on the NA ladder, and has bested many of the top players in the US in showmatches and other tournaments. Good luck to both players!
Lower Bracket Thursday Match-Up Reveal!
ROOTDrewbie vs Inflowmini
Interestingly enough, after the invites were sent and bracket was made, Minigun was made a member of ROOT gaming, so right now this is a ROOT v ROOT matchup. In addition, this will be a rematch of a showmatch both players are playing in the day before, so it will be interesting to see how each player reacts and adapts to what they saw the day before. Minigun is one of the top ranked players in the world for ladder player and is a featured streamer with thousands of fans, but keep in mind ROOTdrewbie is a monster terran player who has dominated events recently. This should be a great matchup! Good luck to both players!
ROOTqxc, in addition to being Day9's Harvey Mudd homeboy, is one of the top terrans in NA, and arguably the world. He has been a strong performer at every single event he's been involved in and ROOT Gaming is excited about how he continues to perform in the future. VTSpades is a top Terran ladder player who has had success in many events and has knocked out a lot of big names in various tournaments. He is a name that is normally seen on the invitational circuit and he brings a strong style of play to the table. Good luck to both players!
Lower Bracket Friday Match-Up Reveal! ROOTDdoro vs TTOne
ROOTDdoro is known for his incredibly strong ladder play and has translated that pretty well to the tournament scene so far. His potential is just starting to get realized and he must play well because his opponent is the famous TTOne. Not only does TTOne have an amazing name that I think most people would agree ROOTCatz is in love with, but he's also one of the best protoss in the world. He had a powerhouse showing at the MLG Championships and has legions of fans and it would not be a stretch to say that many would consider him to be one of the favorites to win this invitational. Good luck to both players!
OTHER NOTES:
To prevent a repeat of the Sunday showmatch between drewbie and minigun, we are swapping Sheth and Minigun in the brackets.
On Monday we will be casting ROOTMinigun vs EGInka followed by ROOTKiwikaki vs Gretorp. After those have been cast we will make a determination as to who we want to cast from the quarter finals and that will be the end of the first night of casting. On Tuesday we will be casting first the upper semifinal, then the lower semifinal, then the 3rd place round and finally the winner's round. Very much looking forward to seeing some great matches!
Casting starts both days at 8 pm est, be sure to tune in then!
gl all, good players, we for sure will see good games. who know in the future maybe we can see a clan war also between: TeamLiquid, Root, EvilGeniuses, FNatic, if i forget some to mention sry but i guess these team are the best from US, with Liquid in both continents. Also some team dispute between Mouz, MTW and other European teams would be also nice.
I live in Germany. People from other European countries have the same problem, check the thread about Minigun's stream, people have been posting there about their problems.
I do not think justin.tv considers this a problem. Once a certain amout of viewers for a stream (something like 250 or 500, which is nothing for events like this, since Miniguns stream alone gets over 1500 viewers regularly) is reached, all further streamers will only be able to watch a few seconds of video and then get a popup, saying that the maximum number of streamers for their country has been reached, as well as an offer to buy a premium account for unlimited viewing.
This has been changed some time ago, wasn't always like that. Anyway, it means no justin.tv for Euorpeans.
I really would appreciate it (and I think any european fan would too) if this was restreamed on ustream or livestream.

Hi liquidoa, are you sure this is true even now? I would appreciate it if you could double check for me, and let me know ASAP via PM if this is this case. I've received assurances at the highest levels at JustinTV that they've lifted the restrictions. Again, please let me know if this is still happening, thanks!
Well, with this new stream they are using it's almost impossible for me to watch. I never had any problems before with Catz's stream (and I always spent like 2-3 hours a day watching it) but now I always get acess denied for my country (user limit) or when I don't get it I receive an error saying something like "Display driver encountered and error..." and then the stream goes green.
This doesn't happen with any other like (USTREAM, Livestream or OwnedTV), but Justin.tv is really problematic for me.
hey guys, i just talked to my justintv guy, it's because minigun's stream isnt assigned to the wrong category, we'll get that fixed today, thanks for letting us know!
Kevin from JustinTV here. We figured out the problem with minigun's stream. We have in fact removed the viewer cap for our gaming producers, so if you do see any channels that hit the cap that are gaming, please PM me and let me know.
I'd also love to hear all of your feedback, good or bad, on Justin.tv. We're constantly making improvements and building new features based on gamer feedback, so we're all ears. feel free to PM me.

Awww why do so many people want to see Mini vs Inka? No disrepect to the players, but PvP is arguably the most boring matchup, and plus mini streams all the time so you already get to see his play. Especially when we could be seeing slush vs painuser - slush is a really good player but he never shows up to tournaments, and no one gets to see his play...
Good casters and great players but the mods on that stream abuse their power so much. LOL this one guy called BladeMage said that modding is his "hobby" and spends 8 hours a day doing it.

Thanks for tuning in everyone, we had some great matches! Thank you so much to our great sponsor justin.tv for providing the prize pool AND the stream!
Tomorrow's matches will start at the same time as tonight, 8 pm est, same stream channel!
First up is ROOTqxc vs ROOTMinigun in a bo3. Then comes ROOTKiwikaki vs FnaticTTOne in another bo3. The 3rd place match comes next as a bo5 and the winner of that gets $50! Finally the finals are bo5 and will be playing for $200 for 1st and $100 for 2nd!
Thanks again for tuning in, some fantastic games tonight, and huge props to justin.tv!

This torny owned I watched all the matches except for the finals because I had enough PvPs for one day but am I the only one that think some of the best NA player like SeleCT, Nony/Tyler, and Huk were not in this?
Yeah I should have mentioned this, we only invited players who are currently regional to the North American continent, because we had so few spots we wanted to narrowly focus our reach. I still think we got players who were just as good in our tournament and we hope to expand the reach in future tournaments. Glad you liked it!
Man Kiwi has such a good PvP its ridiculous and Mini struggles with PvP in general and as far as I have seen on his stream is easily his worst matchup.

But anyways congratz to the Root members
SeleCT and HuK are in Korea atm, so that's probably why they didn't play. For Tyler, I guess you can't pick everyone :/

Okay so I had the videos up on youtube but theres some sound syncing issue I'll try to get it fixed tomorrow removed them all for now ecause they're pretty much not watchable
