Hello!
This is an important day for SCL! We are finally able to announce the teams for the inaugural season of SCL. Before I do that I'd like to thank all 28 teams who sent in their applications, it was a huge turnout and I'm glad we have so many top teams here.
Now we decided that we would take 24 teams into the qualifiers, and those 24 teams will battle it out till we have 12 teams left. Then those 12 teams will be divided up into 2 divisions of 6 depending on their points in the 2 randomly generated matches.
We thought that this would be the best and appropriate way to accommodate for the huge influx of applications from North American teams. But a 1 division league with 12 teams would be way to long of a season so 2 division looks like a good path for SCL. We also though its to premature to try and rank teams, even though some teams have more/better achievements it's still nearly impossible to place teams in a fair ranking.
Sadly, we could only pick 24 teams. We had 28 applications and we will not post the reasons (unless deemed necessary) of the 4 teams we chose not to accept. Some reason I will share were: lack of info on the application, incomplete applications, unprofessional applications. If any of the teams that don't appear on this list wish to know why they weren't accepted they can contact me or SCL|Moo here via PM.
Now onto the 24 teams! We would like to welcome the following teams to SCL Season 1:
Double D
Stoic
Team [N]
Clan Never
Clan [dx]
Eternal Sphere Gaming
Gamewise Multigaming
Inflow Gaming
Team VzR
Team Six
Nightmare Gaming
Team sC
myRevenge
Harbinger Gaming
Evil Genius
Latest and Greatest Gaming
sMi
Team Energy
Micro and Macro
Vendetta Gaming
rS Gaming
Quantum Gaming
Puzzle
NeKa
*Note these are not rankings.
Congratulation to all the teams selected! We hope to produce some fun games and hopefully the qualifiers go over smooth so we can get this league going!
Now I lightly touched on how the qualifiers would work, and I'm going to explain them further here. Basically were going to take all the teams and generate 2 matches for each team. The 12 teams with the highest amount of points by the end of the 2 week qualifier will be accepted into the league. In-case of a tie, we will have a week off after qualifiers to play tie breakers. To find your matches they will be posted here.
Things to know:
1. The rules are still being updated, I still have to go through them a few more times, but as of now they still stand. Also anything not listed does not mean you can abuse it.
2. We will not tolerate teams not acting up to our standards. Some basic stuff is emailing the league when your matches are scheduled, sending in lineups 30 mins before matches. If you have any questions contact the league, please do not hesitate to ask, we like questions.
3. For the qualifiers we will be using the rosters sent in with your applications as your team profiles, which will be finished by tonight. Once the qualifiers are over we will allow teams to make their profiles via our create team system. So if you have any roster additions you can either A) email the league at hello@wcleague.com or B) Post in your Team Profile and we will update the roster, you have until September 16th to send in your roster additions so they wont be barred.
4. Unlike other SC2 Leagues, we would like teams to keep replays. We chose TopReplays because of it being constantly updated and you upload multiple replays at once. Hopefully soon we will have the submit replay function in our website but for now this will do. I will make it even easier on teams, you can use our account!
Username: SCLeague Password: dragon
5. All teams must schedule their Week 1 matches by September 17th, 11:59pm EST via league email (hello@wcleague.com). We will not tolerate late scheduling, or FF matches.
6. To maximize exposure we created a Facebook and Twitter for the league, so if you'd like to follow us we will post the happenings that are going on in with the league, matches that are getting shoutcasted ect ect.
Twitter Facebook
Last but not least we are still looking for admins of all positions, we have a good amount of admins but I would still like more! We still need shoutcasters so if you would like to join our ranks, then drop us a line at the league email or PM me or SCL|Moo.
I promise that is all, this was quite a long post and I hope it was very informative if you have any question or think I left anything out just let me know!
Good luck to everyone!

No as in Starcraft 2 League lol

So just curious is there actually a prize or did you never get a sponsor?

What type of teams are you looking for specifically? 2v2, 3v3?
Just trying to understand before applying! Thanks in advance!

There looking for a full team. Such as say u have 7 players on your team, u take 4-5 of your players, and they play BO5 vs the other team 1v1 style. This is just an example, I dont know how SCL is doing it. its not 2v2 or 3v3 there looking for , there looking for a TEAM that is going to have Clan Wars.
|
|
6.2. All Team's must fill out their Team Profile entirely. That means teams must have a Logo, a Clan Description and a website in their Team Profile.
Was looking for team size and saw this, what if you are just a group of friends and don't have a website?
|
looks wack. don't understand the format and dont see why you need a logo, etc..
|
If its really a inconvenience you don't need a logo, but how can you not have a website? Dunno how its such a big deal but no need to apply if thats the attitude your gonna have either :/
|
Well I was just wondering if its available to anyone who can field a team, or do you want semi-professional gaming teams only?
There are a lot of people who play with friends and have a clan-like relationship yet don't formally create one.
|
Anyone can form a team good sir
|
But not all of them have a website which is why I asked about it :p

I think Starcraft knows the format as winners league format or all-kill format. Where you have two starting player and the winning player stays to play the next player of the opposing team.

That is winner's league

Okay, I'll change the requirement, the website is just in case we need to contact you and say your on on msn/sc2. Just another way of contact.
Ah okay thanks! I don't know the terminology cause I really didn't follow sc2! Thanks for that though!
Edit: At GenoZ the point is to make the battle reports look professional and make the website more professional, obviously I'm if a team doesn't have a logo that doesn't mean they won't get accepted, its just nice to have.

I'm a little confused here, maybe you can clear this up for me.
1) The rules are almost (are exactly?) the same as the SGL's rules 2) It's being run while the SGL is being run 3) One of your current (former?) clanmates helps run the SGL
So is this just competition for the SGL, but with a prize at the end? Basically I'm asking why the teams in the SGL would want to spend the time and energy to sign up and play all of matches for another league. If I'm missing something here please let me know. I'm not trying to be attacking your league, and not saying that I wouldn't work to sign up Inflow, but I'm just trying to figure out if there is a significant difference between the SGL and SCL besides an undisclosed prize.
|
There is basically no difference at all so far. There might be more teams introduced, and different prizes. Its basically just another means to showcase your skill and participate in multiple CWs.
NrG. signed up ^_^~

That whole "team" is based around admins, Worpex the creator of nG, was the creator of FML (FFA Masters League) and WCOlympics. Baronfel, their longest player is a web admin for the WCOlympics, I once had a vital role of being the team manager, and during my tenure was admin of the WCOlympics, and afterward becoming greatly involved in prominent wc3 leagues, IGLeague.net, and WGSeries.com (although they had a fail SGL, id like to note i had no part in it besides participation). Beast who took over management become a vital admin in WCL, who soon had the entire set of reins handed over to him, which he handled with extreme political savvy even though he was in less than disrespectful positions due to a prior admin. After Beast has had his hand in the American wc3 scene and is one of the reasons its heart is still beating as hard as it is.
Why GnR made a team league, i have no clue, thats why stoic, my team, decided to opt out of a position in the qualifiers, SCL seems like it will be worth the work to me, simply because of the rapport I have with Beast even though I've only worked with him on a professional level a bit, since my team arirang just entered his international based league this season.
I hope that clarifies it, theres no competition between the two, they are simply two people with tons of resources willing to give back.
|
Thank you Holcan, he pretty much said everything.
I will repeat, we have no animosity towards SGL, GnR played on nG (the team I manage for both wc3 and sc2) and he wanted to start his own league. I allowed him to look over my rules so he had a idea of what they should look like and how he should start his own league. I've been giving him advice to set up his league and he's done pretty much everything else himself and a great job at that for his first time.
I'm trying (and so is GnR) creating leagues that plan to be around for a long time in the american scene. If you followed WC3, WCL has been around 8 season, ICE/ICL has been around for 9, WCO 5 Season, ect ect as you can see I want to establish good competition for American Teams.
The point of leagues is for teams to have regular competition to play against high level players, while being able to win prizes. Leagues are really fun, I've only been around wc3 league scene for close to 8-9 months, and just recently got into SC2. SCL is a great site and I really hope we create a great community and following.

If Beast said there will be a prize, there will be, he is very honest, from the post it sounds like he is just trying to figure out if it will be divided amongst the top teams, and how, or if it will be winner take all.
