The Starcraft 2 Team League (SC2TL) is a weekly tournament run by Inflow Gaming. We hope to encourage more competition between various teams and groups in Starcraft 2 as well as have a damn good time while doing so. As the tournaments progress week by week, teams that place well consistently will begin being seeded. Statistics such as which players are doing the best and the results of each week will also be published. We also plan on releasing replay packs of all the games each week.

The format for the tournament is simple and the same as the Triple Strike Cup tournaments run earlier in the first phase of Beta by Dacthehork. Rather than it being a standard 1v1 tournament like so many other SC2 tournaments, it will be based around teams of three(3) people. Each person on the team will have a life. If you lose a game, you lose your life for that round. If all the members of a team lose their lives, then that team is knocked out of the tournament. If a player wins a game, then that player must play in the next game. One player from each team will be required to be a “starter” for the team and be the first player sent to play each round. This format can lead to exciting rounds where a team’s starter could “all kill” the other team or a team’s last hope could “reverse all kill” the other team.

The first tournament is scheduled for August 7th at 3 PM Est. We hope to avoid any initial problems Bnet might have. As it is a team format, the rounds do last longer and take time. Expect the event to take some time and plan accordingly please.

To sign up as a team, please leave the following information in this thread.

If you have a larger team and are unsure of which three will be able to play each week, then you are welcome to sign up a larger roster, but we will need to know which three are playing atleast 24 hours in advance.
As Bnet is not up, you cannot leave your character code obviously. If you and your team sign up before the game launches, please PM me either your email or your character code at least 24 hours before the tournament begins. If we do not have contact information for your entire team, none of your team plays.
The event is open to all players; however, we will reserve spots for more skilled/known teams.
If you are looking for a team you can post once with your information saying you are, but please don’t spam the thread with conversation about finding a team and take it to PM’s if you can.

1) All players are to play the same race (Protoss, Terran, Zerg, or Random) throughout the tournament.
2) All games will happen on the NA server. Sorry rest of the world.
3) All results in between rounds are to be reported to Alou (Or another designated person if for some reason I am unavailable). Please report both which team won as well as the individual results of each game.
4) All replays need to be sent to my email (Email will be placed here during the tournament). A replay pack of all the games will hopefully be released within 24 hours of the event. If you do not send your replays, you will not be allowed in future events.
5) If a disconnection occurs, players are to restart the match unless it was obvious one player was going to win. If there is a dispute, contact me or one of the other tournament organizers.
6) All teams must keep the same players throughout the tournament. Substitutions can happen up until the tournament starts, but once the tournament begins all 3 players must play or you will have to be disqualified or play 1 person down.
7) Any streamers are allowed to observe any game if they are being recognized by me as someone streaming the event.
8) For any non-streamed games, observers outside of the teams themselves are allowed if BOTH teams agree. For any games being streamed, I’d prefer only the streamers and team members be allowed to watch as it hopefully leaves enough room in the lobbies for everyone.
9) Any disputes or questions can be posted or PM’ed to me.
10) My decision on all decisions has been decided to be decisively final.

Any streamers interested in commentating the tournament can post here or PM me. Please post your stream name and link so I can put it in the initial post when the event starts. All streamers of all levels are welcome and encouraged. If you give anybody problems such as verbal abuse, lagging, or consistent holding up of game lobbies, then you will be asked to not stream the tournament. Be respectful of other casters and realize that the lobbies will probably be filled on some games. I encourage you guys to split yourselves up and cover different parts of the tournament.

I would sign my team up but i find it hard as of now to list 3 players who im 100% sure will be able to play the whole tourny on a date that is like 2.5 weeks from now. Maybe you should let people sign up a whole roster of players and send a lineup in like the day before or something? Just a thought, GL with this.

That's a good point. If you wish to sign up a larger group then that is fine. But we will need concrete details on who is playing within 24 hours of the tournament by the latest.

You can sign up multiple teams from the same clan or organization. Although Fanti is a total scrub. Why would he be on your team.

Yeah I remember watching 2 or 3 different streams when Triple Strike was going. I love the format of it. Nexus lift off is probably the best laugh I've ever had. Hope we can keep this up too. It's definitely a lot of fun to run things like these

We're planning these to be weekly or at least every other week. It is a time slot that other major tournaments will probably want, so it may occasionally move to accommodate other things, but it should be a weekly or every other week kinda thing.

I'm sure vTgaming will put out at least 2 teams. I know we'll be very interested in this league. Mirhi will probably set up the team rosters, but we might have as many as 4 teams (if you remember how many we fielded in triple strike that shouldn't be a surprise.)

I wanna say QXC posted earlier in the thread. You can still change it or add a team. If there's more than 32, some of the lesser known teams may have to fight for a spot earlier. I don't think I can manage a tournament with more than 32 teammates.

Please only put out 2 if possible. Trying to let more people compete. Don't want teams with larger rosters taking up all the spots.

b) do a preliminary 'qualifier' before the tournament

Hey guys, since there is so much interest in the tournament, we are going to limit the number of teams to one per clan/organization. Any team that was promised 2 spots in the tournament will be condensed into one team. Please tell me the finalized roster (if it changes) by atleast 24 hours before the tournament. The first sign ups that open up because of this will be added. Good luck to everyone and if you have any questions let me know.

We now have 32 teams. However, I did not ask for contact info as the tournament was opened for sign ups before the launch. I will need sign up information for all your team members. This can be either the character code or emails. Please PM these too me. If I don't have them within 24 hours of sign ups, consider yourself disqualified. Also PM me if your team's roster changes.

Players can be random. We already have 32 teams, however, so if you do sign up your team will be put on the back up list and play if teams do not show. Tournaments usually have a few no shows though, so usually you can get in

i have an advice: instead of letting inflow holding the event, why cant we give the referee seats to some 3rd party group like iccup or TeamLiquid itself?
the fact that all the replays go into inflow hand will just give them more resources to practice overall (no offends to inflow <3, just to be fair/honest)

The replays are going to be released to everyone. We're just trying to get more competition between teams going and attempting to get our name out there more.

Qualifiers could probably be figured out, however I do not have the time nor the capabilities to organize that. Maybe in the future I could manage more than 32 teams, but at the moment 32 is all I can handle. I'll change the roster for ya. Sorry everyone cannot compete.

We go by the honor system here mostly, there are some pretty well known teams registered, it's really not worth it to get caught cheating in something there are no prizes for. But there is really no way to enforce it, we cannot control everyone and their vent.

Honor system. It would really suck if a team decided that they needed to win so bad they would cheat. If anything looks suspicious we will look at it, but I trust all of the players and teams to play honorably and just enjoy the tournament.

why dont you just add a no obs rule, where players can ask for no obs? games are hosted on bnet so its not like a host is needed, works the same as honour system, but if a team is seriously worried the player can ask for no obs.

Why would you guess that? Accross SEA/US/EU teams there tend to be more Protoss players. Regardless, you won't get onto a big name team without proving yourself in some singles tournaments first.

No worries. Starting in 10 minutes. Message me or TadH (contact info at top of first post) with results or issues. If your opposing team first round is not there, they will be either replaced or disqualified, give me a few minutes to update the bracket

Grats to Fnatic for the win and to all participants, it seemed to run pretty smoothly (props to Alou), and this will help us run better team tournaments in the future.
As for replays, you will have to contact the individual teams to obtain them, if they want to give them out, we did not require replays to be compiled and sent to us.
