I'm trying to figure out a way to get some more prizes directed towards that. My theory has ALWAYS been a player can gain more in my eyes by losing an amazing match than winning a boring one.
The ITL is about putting on great games first and foremost and I expect the same in this tournament which is why it should end up being one to remember!

Expect more custom maps coming into the later events for this, probably going to be staying away from them in the first one. But in future iCCup events we'll be using custom maps more so get a practicing. BTW is this here yet? :[

All of the games will be streamed live (with commentary) on the ICCup.TV ustream channel ( http://www.ustream.tv/channel/iccup-tv ). Only ICCup TV staff and the current players are allowed in the game.

Yea we keep that rule pretty universal even most of our own staff is not allowed to spectate. This rule is not just for this event but all iCCup TV and (now) Gosucoaching events.
Also I'm excited for tonight for the kickoff of the Grand Prix !

TBH, this is actually a pretty big deal. Many people who don't check this thread would have no idea that this is going on right now if it's not listed on the calendar. This alone results in a difference of probably at least several hundred viewers, which is crucial for any sponsored event.

Catz just showed that you can have a lot of fun, play really innovative in competitive games (7 pool, proxy hatch, gold mineral first expo, ling/infestors vs protoss) and still win, and put up such a nice show.
Really Catz thanks for those games, i didn't laugh that much watching a replay since ages, and it was so entertaining. I hope Catz win the pimpest play since he really pulled it off, and i don't see anyone beating his proxy hatch ! :p

I honestly had more respect for you man, i was a little suprised you'd even react this way.
The community WILL make better maps than blizzard. It has happened in the past, and it will happen in the future.
iCCup has given the opportunity to a group of map-makers to continuously come up with new maps. Only a portion of these maps will ever make it into a pool of competitive maps used in tournaments. Is this about perfection on the first go? No. It it never perfection on the first step, or the second or the third.
However, custom melee maps are drawing on the mechanics players are used to, and paying attention to mechanics blizzard has ignored. You even admitted yourself your victim to the entire army on one hotkey... and you can get away with this on Blizzard maps. You cant get away with that on a larger more macro orientated 1v1 map.
It is unfortunate that you would degrade not just the maps, but iCCup and the map making community because you may or may not have lost a couple of games on a custom map. Tbh I dont know why you have the animosity towards the maps and frankly it astounds me.
I saw a game between qxc and antimage a couple of days ago on a custom made melee map based of of the scout distance in cross positioned LT. It was one of the best games i had ever seen.
The process is only beginning and it is a high caliber player like you who is eating out of blizzards hand now that they determine map pools that would draw something as important as the community input into balanced maps down. Blizzard being in control doesnt make them any better at making maps and you know that. If I were a high caliber player like you, well known in the community, id do a 180, grow a pair and work with map-makers in stead of complain.
You wanna do something constructive. Go check out our map threads and if you see something you think has potential. Help test it, help balance it. Do anything but come here and say "sad fail" on our first try.

Realise that foreign mapping already has a large negative stigma from broodwar and that foreign mapping (i.e. non korean) causing controversy in events is just going to hurt it's credibility in the eyes of the spectators, players and other tournament organisers.

Having one tournament out of hundreds to test new maps is not that bad, although I agree that it would fit better in a small tournament, since they haven't been tested yet and we don't have that much understanding of the game.
the iCCup map team is putting a lot of effort and their maps are well done, I'm excited to see how their maps, specially the BW versions, are going to work with SC2.

esunited.net is slowly catching up with all the VODs from the ITL: Grand Prix.. However, I'm happy to announce that all the Round 1 games have been linked into our VOD library so it's easy and convenient to browse.

Nope! Only the players and casters will have replays. You're free to watch the VODs whenever you want, though.

This event has concluded, but I just wanted to let everyone know that all the VODs (minus Grand Finals and 3rd place) has been posted. The 1st half of the 3rd place match is missing so I didn't want to post the incomplete library until this has been sorted out.
