However, the method itself was (or still is?) controversial because it allowed you to effectively bypass the lock of any map whatsoever, regardless of whether or not you're the proper owner. For example, it would let anyone be able to have free access to the maps that ESV or TPW or Crux would have made without needing permission and then be able to publish them as their own or what not. Assuming it hasn't been patched in 2 years, the method itself can be found somewhere on the internet. I myself don't know what it is, but I know that it exists because someone used it early on to break open Storm of the Imperial Sanctum and it set off this firestorm of an ethical debate over on SC2mapster. | ||

When you publish them as locked they've already gotten you to agree that you'll have to maintain your own copy and they can't assist you in retrieving any uploaded copy. You can "unlock" any map by duplicitous means, but all of the triggers will have been converted from GUI format to actual Galaxy code (if that matters to you). The method for unlocking maps is documented and discussed on most prominent Starcraft 2 mapping sites. | ||
