Games wise the NASL had it easily. However, like many threads are quick to point out....their production....wow....just how could that happen... My votes towards MLG Dreamhack is still amazing though, so much love to them

Production quality - Dreamhack. Game quality - NASL. The sound / stream issues that plagued the NASL finals set it a tier lower than the other events, so it was basically a toss-up between Cbus and Dreamhack. I think MLG delivered a smashing good performance to make up for Dallas, it really was an excellent tournament all-around, so my vote goes to them.

As for the quality of games NASL has always provided epic matchups through the regular season and at the playoffs we saw many EPIC series that came down to a final game, making it so tense to watch. As for the production value Dreamhack Summer takes this one but I was REALLY annoyed by the fact that they only showed the semi-finals and finals in the studio (correct me if i'm wrong) and during most of the tournament kept the audience in a tent that really was too small for the amount of people assisting. Hopefully Dreamhack Winter expands their studio because they were PACKED and I can only predict that that audience will only grow with the next event. So with all this said, I gave my vote to MLG Columbus. Side note: I hope that the event organizers of these tournaments look at this poll and try to make their tournaments even 1000x better.

Dreamhack had the best production obviously and no real difficulties in broadcasting. MC casted with Totalbiscuit. There were a lot of good series but not one was quite as good as the ones from the NASL. Huk took one home for the foreigners (though the finals were kinda weak). MLG was sort of intermediate of the above. Some problems, but a storm is outside their control. Lot of cool moments (such as idra defeating himself...AGAIN). Felt like it got more in touch with the players and tried to follow their stories throughout the tournament. Arguably better games than dreamhack. I gave it to Dreamhack just because of huk :p.

(Also it was mostly a redemption from their previous one) Dreamhack had amazing coverrage with so many streams (Mistakes learned from the expense of MLG ) NASL had the best finals (probally one of the game 5 might be one of the best games of SC2 for a long time) bar none, but everything else was meh

The NASL production was pretty awful, right up to the very end I was yelling fire the sound guy. Camera's were even terrible, looked like 80's home movies. They get that stuff squared up and they will be on par with MLG.

Seriously a tournament that has its finals in a concert hall is below tournaments that happen in convention centers?

NASL had higher budget for everything, which wasn't used as well as smaller ones were in DH/MLG. I'd vote NASL as 3rd even if it was as good as others, considering what it could've been. I voted NASL, because while the production was terrible, that finals was so insane. I'm EU, so was in bed when it came on, absolutely exhausted. I edned up sat up on the edge of my bed around the mid-point of Game 2. I've never been so tense over a series than I have with that. That's why it got my vote.

NASL had the best finals, but it's terrible first day and all weekend long audio problems ruled it out as the top choice. Columbus' crowd, constant games, low amount of filler, and the use of the casters made it the best. Dreamhack was good, but the crowd was really only used for the final.

People said shit after shit after shit of the production, technical issues, people involved, schedule, etc, etc, etc.....the bo7 finals were really good and everyone forgets everything and its now getting a huge % of voting? I agree with milkis...this vote should have never been done so close after the end of the tournament, biased opinions showing right there (and yeah you can try to say im biased towards dreamhack and sad its in last place but that is just not true. I voted for MLG. I just find it odd that NASL has this many votes). Also I dont have nothing against the NASL. I wasnt in the "this is the worst event ever" bandwagon, despite having some complains, I kept them to myself because I understood that it was the first season and they were doing their best to improve and give us the better experience possible. The same way I didnt jump into the worst ever, im not going to jump to the omg it was best event ever bandwagon just because the final gave us some really exciting games. Nonetheless Im looking forward to the next NASL and Im sure a lot of improvements will be made and, by the end of next season, if the NASL gets this many votes for the best event I wont find it strange GL HF

I voted MGL though. Overall best event. The NASL finals did go a long way to make up for the bad production, but MLG had great games as well. But I really feel Homestory Cup should be in this poll. I think it has done the most to further particularly western esports.

mlg won production dh won delivery of content i'll have to go with DH first for the full coverage on streams, best tournament format and slightly superior games, with Columbus close second for the atmospehere, storylines and production value, and Nasl a distant third for some good commentating and semis/finals games quality. HSC3 takes the grand prize though

MLG was almost on par with DH just that they had fewer streams and you had to pay for the best quality, but other than that it was almost perfect. NASL however doesn't even come close to DH and MLG, i'm not hating on their thing, i respect the hell out of anyone who is trying to get E-sports recognized but it seriously just didn't work out this time. I hope season 2 works out better for them. The entire internet flipped their shit over all the numerous issues with NASL, 1 hour breaks before the games, audio quality was atrocious, projector issues at the venue etc. How anyone can pick NASL out of these three is beyond me. As mentioned above, if this poll would have been posted a week from now when the NASL hype would have died down, the results would be completely different.

Dreamhack was kinda flawless all around, the only thing MLG may have had better was a bit more player interaction (but Homestorycup > all in this regards ) and the MLG crowd seemed a bit more enthusiastic. Compared to that, Dreamhack had a better stream quality, and more streams, and as an EU guy, the schedule fitted me best NASL well... it was NASL, Even if the production failures created some hilarious situations, the terrible format, and the schedule were kinda annoying. Still the games quality was excellent so it saved the day in the end

pretty simple actually its more than a "production" putting some computer-graphics on a screen (DH) doesnt make it automatically better or more professional.I mean everyone could buy these programms to make such things i think its more about the general atmosphere, the casters, the fans and the games of course

The player pool of the NASL finals was worse than at MLG or DH (not to speak of HSC3). The Production was horrific, both technically and in terms of scheduling. The commentators were the same as everywhere else. So what exactly speaks for NASL, other than the fact that some people cannot recall an event that took place more than 2 days ago?

MLG weakpoints: The system needs to change a bit, i like the idea though. Dreamhack weakpoints: Audience. The atmosphere is missing. + the maincasters didnt cast from the main stage. huge minus. NASL Finals weakpoints: strange seedings. Soundproblems. Anna prosser sining??? and god - we dont need 2 hour breaks between bo3s. Everything else was ok though, the games itself were great - especially Sen-MC and MC-Puma A word to "HomestoryCupIII": Its simply different, you cannot cmopare it to the others. it clearly has its weaknesses as well, especially some casts...

MLG was flawless. Generally at most 15 minutes between games, great variety, incredibly good production value, and a greater crowd presence. With MLG the misses knew that I would be setting the alarm for 3am, and she wouldn't be able to get sense out of me until around mid-day. With NASL, she still had an hour with me, then nothing. Its not fair on her to get her hopes up.

Why? MLG Columbus was a nice event but was let down by several issues such as the way the streaming system was designed, while much better than the Octoshape crap they used last time around, overly frequent commercial breaks, some of the most annoying commercials ever (i.e. the "Get real" one) and the overly large amount of hype the event got which the event didn't actually meet. It also left me questioning the planned league exchange program and whether it was actually a fair exchange, as both the GSL and MLG tournaments were pretty damn vastly different. I mean only winning MLG will actually get you an easily loseable Code S spot whereas placing 2nd - 4th will get you a Code A spot, also hard to obtain, easy to lose and quite frankly not worth the money even if GoMTV will cover living expenses and travel costs. The North American Star League was great when it actually got to the Grand Finals, and even then I found the decision to have iNcontroL and Gretorp cast the final series to be questionable considering Tasteless, Artosis and Day[9] are fan favourite casters and probably the most experienced in that field. However, the duo actually pulled through and made the final 7 games a very enjoyable experience. Also, my experience of watching the NASL has been spoiled somewhat both by the schedule which either involves me having to wait until 3am GMT to watch regular games or wait til the restream at 6pm GMT and either have the results spoiled to me via looking at the NASL site directly to watch the stream or otherwise. Also, I have questioned paying the $25 needed to watch the stream in anything that is 480p or above, or watch VODs, especially since many have complained that VODs simply aren't working. However, I appreciate it when tournaments release their replays for future analysis, casting and viewing. Both Major League Gaming and Dreamhack have done this whereas the NASL and GSL have outright refused to do so. Also, at least MLG and Dreamhack are making their VODs free with advertising, whereas to play, whereas with the GSL and NASL, you must have a premium season pass. Hence, I am afraid to say that because of all of these factors, Dreamhack is obviously my choice with MLG as a close second.

I guess DreamHuk(lol) edges out the other two, due to fantastic games and casting, which is basically what I watch for. MLG had Tastosis, whis is a HUGE plus for me, but a lot of the games were lackluster, imo, and extended series is such a weird fucking rule to use. NASL was so weird and awkward most of the time, so I found it hard to get into the mood. The crazy long player intros, the super-awkward model girl interviewing people and so on greatly annoyed me. Also, the fact that Gretorp and Incontrol casted the finals with Tastosis (casted the bronze match) and Day[9], just doing nothing, was really disappointing. I'm not going to say that they didn't deserve it, as they casted the whole season and yadda-yadda, but NASL should have gone with the fan favorites, imo. Would have surely been more exciting to me. To summarize (tl;dr): 1: HSC3 2: DH:S 3/4: MLG/NASL

1. Columbus = Most excitement/Games/eSports Drama ^^ 2.Dream Hack = Great overall. 3.NASL Finals = too much hiccups, but fantastic Finals. Might of been the best series I have ever seen. 4.HSC3 = Just not enough good games, PvP semi-finals and finals, Not that much koreans. I won't be surprised if Europeans vote for the european tourneys and NA picks MLG.

DH hands down. You just had to take a look the schedule. Look up what match you were interested in and press the right stream button. Perfect experience of online viewing. From the live viewers perspective: In this poll MLG columbus. The players ceremonies, running into crowds. and the crowds themselves. Dont have to add anything to it. And then we have NASL Lets check the list: - sound problems - check - time managment errors - check - depresing stage - check - toi-toi player booths - check... MLG Dallas might have lost its spot on the throne. Btw. i voted for DH cause for a online viewer it was PERFECT.

On the contrary i think that the people will remember the quality of the final games (and the casting) and the memories of the problems will phase out. Just like i remember MLG Dallas from the games of IdrA vs Huk more than the rage i felt when watching a black screen or those Dr Pepper commercials. Of course you can say that idra's GG and the dancing zealots will echo through eternity but those are not the same kind of memories^^.

It was the first, but hopefully not last time I ended up shouting like a girl in the middle of the night when PuMa clutched g7, just before I realized I was all covered in my own sweat which forced me to go take a shower at 3am. PUMA FIGHTING

MLG had just way too good stories. IdrA ragequits anyone? They were just too good. The final was very well played and the crowd was amazing. DH i don't remember that much, still it was better over all than NASL. NASL had the best final games, but other than that it sucked compared to the other two's.

So games aside, I think MLG Columbus gets my vote here. I'll still follow all 3 tournaments. If they didn't improve their production as they did in their last "appearance" however, MLG would have been at the bottom.

NASL couldn't prevent their players from delivering good games, they had a stable stream and Lindsey. But sound issues and ~0,3matches/hour were painful. BO3 single elim was annoying as well.

Sexism aside, NASL had great games (Sen ftw) and a nice lineup of players and casters. NASL production had some speed bumps, but it was nothing big, it was still enjoyable (though I may've felt differently, had I paid the $10, don't know). Dreamhack felt a bit rushed and I had the impression players just turned up to get a shot at the prize money, not to play some good matches. MLG was great, but not fresh in memory, my impression is a less impressive lineup but good production.

MLG: 94/100 NASL: 80/100 NASL had great semi's and finals but that was about it, the first round was a massive yawn fest and the production was bleargh. I picked Dreamhack over MLG because i felt that almost every series was epic and had awesome storylines, whereas MLG had a few yawners, not very many, but enough to make it 2nd. This poll isnt really fair cuz NASL is fresh in peoples minds. I bet if you waited a month to make the poll NASL wouldnt get very many votes.

imho they just got lucky, that they had awesome games in the final, which can't be attributed to the organizers, but apart from that, the production was incredibad, seriously: - Massive delay at start - 1 hour+ breaks between each BO3? - awkward interviews - sound problems all weekend, - switching on Day9's mic like 20 times when he wasn't on stage - 10 Minute intros for each player in almost every round - Single elimination (Hey Ret, how about you fly over to the US and play 2 games ?) In comparison, DH and MLG Columbus were such awesome events. Can't wait for the next ones.

The poll would probably look much more lopsided if it was simply NASL vs MLG vs Dreamhack. All three took place over one weekend. If you include NASL's regular season, then it becomes a very weird comparison. NASL's 16 person single elimination bracket certainly has a lot less games than MLG and DH formats, but that was NASL's choice.

MLG colombus or dreamhack were better events overall. I won't "forgive" NASL for all the problems they have during the season... the production for the finals was not good enough either, also i think they laugh at me when they select incontrol and gretorp to cast the finals instead of tastosis.... I voted for MLG

It had tons of "stars" there, casted live, on tons of streams. And most important of all - they didnt had problems with sound like NASL had, and they were streaming higher quality for free.
