The Highlander - Ro8/Ro4 Update

Very recently the last of the Ro8 games finished up - namely White-Ra vs Mondragon. We also managed to track down the last of the Ro16 games. Before I go spoiling the results here are the replay packs for these games;

Alright, with those out of the way I can safely reveal the bracket, completed up to the end of the Round of 16.

The Round of 8 and Semifinals
On Saturday, starting at 18CET, these games will start. This is what is going to happen.
Dinot vs Horror and Idra vs Xiaozi will take place at 18 CET. These matches will be Best of 5 with the first map being God's Garden. Subsequent maps will be determined by the loser of the previous game as in prior rounds. Both of these games, assuming there is no lag, will be live streamed and commentated by various members of the community. Last I heard, Artosis will be around to cast Idra vs Xiaozi - so definitely turn up to see how that goes.
Once the two series have completed the players will immediately move into the semifinals. So the winner of Idra/Xiaozi vs the winner of Dinot/Horror. Again, this match will be casted. Again, this is Best of 5 but this time the first map is Heartbreak Ridge. Two Best of 5's can be really tiring, so this will be a true test of stamina. Although, don't be surprised if there is a brief gap between the Ro8 and the Ro4 to let the players rest up for a little bit. Full details will be available on the day.
After our first finalist is determined, we will move on to the lower half of the bracket. These games will start at 21CET and will also be casted. These matches are IefNaij vs Brat_OK and White-Ra vs Tarson. As before, the Round of 8 starts with God's Garden. And just as above, once these games are completed we will play the semifinals with the first map being Heartbreak Ridge.
So if you love TvZ make sure you're there at 18CET and if you're a TvP fanatic then 21CET is the best time for you! Regardless, both times are sure to provide some amazing games so be sure to check it out!
Map Change
After careful evailuation, we have decided to remove Gaema Gowon from the map pool. This was because we felt it gave an insurmountable advantage to Terran. To rectify this, the map is going to be replaced with the Katrina! After all, we don't mind imbalances on the map as long as its anti-Terran 
The real reason for including Katrina though, is that is contrasts greatly with the maps already in the pool. Katrina TvZ's generally end up being amazing games and since half of our bracket is TvZ, we felt that Katrina would be a better battleground for them. Likewise, TvP plays out very differently here than on the other maps in the pool since it strongly favors Carriers over Arbiters. So this map should provide, at the very least, some contrasting games to the rest of the games.
Thus the map pool is as follows:
- Heartbreak Ridge
- Lost Temple
- Katrina
- Colosseum II
- Neo Forte
- God's Garden
- Destination
The New Contest!!
Seeing as the bracket contest got pretty owned by last minute subs, we have come up with a brand new contest to replace it. The contest is very similar to a bracket contest, although like the Highlander - you only need to pick one player.
Here's how it will work:
- Decide who is going to win the tournament
- e.g. IdrA
Work out Guess his opponents in the Round of 8, semifinals and finals
- e.g. Xiaozi (Ro8), Dinot (Semifinals), Brat_OK (Finals)
- Guess the score of each of the series (Ro8 and semis are Bo5, Finals are Bo7)
- e.g. Xiaozi 3-1, Dinot 3-2, Brat_OK 4-3
- Guess the order of the maps that they are going to be playing on and if your player wins
e.g. Xiaozi 3-1
Gods Garden (Win), Neo Forte (Win), Lost Temple (Loss), Destination (Win)
Dinot 3-2
Heartbreak Ridge (Win), Colosseum II (Win), Destination (Loss), Neo Forte (Loss), Katrina (Win)
Brat_OK 4-3
Katrina (Win), Heartbreak Ridge (Win), Lost Temple (Loss), Colosseum II (Loss), Destination (Win), God's Garden (Loss), Neo Forte (Win)

e.g. IdrA will win

The person who gets the closest to 100% (will priority given to winner > players > score > maps > map score) will receive the $100 prize! If there is a tie - well, we'll sort that out

Yes. This has been known from the moment IdrA`s name was on the invitation list....
Just kidding. Actually, an upset is still quite possible. The strange thing about IdrA vs. other foreigners is that he almost never wins decisively, but by a close margin (4-3, 3-2, 2-1). If this keeps up, someone will sooner or later turn the tables on IdrA. However, whether this will happen during the Highlander tournament is anyone`s guess.

I just went back and watched the Lz vs Ret rep in the Ro32 and I was amazed! For Lz playing is 3rd best race and Ret playing probably his #1 race, I thought Lz owned. IMO he actually should have taken the game. At most points of the game he was actually considerably up on Ret. I noticed ret was consistently keeping his resources lower than Lz but ret often had a smaller army and less resources coming in that ret. Lz played a much superior tactical game early and even won some really great battles late game.
Mid game where ret took his 3rd and 4th bases was where Lz fell down. He had more than enough troops to run over both of those bases or wipe out all SCVs with his vulture but his macro/apm started to falter around this point and he didn't scout them for a really long time. Ret didn't even bother to defend them at all for several minutes after they were already up and running with lots of SCVs mining.
Even at the end Lz still had a chance (albeit very small) when he gg'd. I guess he went on take take another game from ret as well so if he hadn't let the first game slip away he actually would have taken ret down. Anyway, I think I read somewhere that ret wasn't feeling 100% when he played these games ... but still pretty amazing performance from Lz considering the circumstances of that particular game.

its a really complex system contest... many changes to the format of the contest and the players list too. Maybe the next time will be better. Im getting so confused that i decided to quit.

The contest changed once. Since its theres only 3 rounds its almost impossible to set up a proper system where you will have no ties. If we did a Ro8 -> finals bracket contest about 12.5% of people at least would get it right. This way the chances of people getting it right are so minimal. Also, players only changed once - so yea.. if once is too much then I'm sorry.

Actually if the matches were completely even less than 1% of brackets would be perfect... and yes the system is so complicated and takes so much time that is why I decided not to do it. Brackets like this should be fun and quick with simple tie breakers (how long do you think X match will last) or something, tiebreakers can be arbitrary nobody really cares who can guess the maps...
The stream question makes sense since there were no specific streams mentioned, yeah he name dropped artosis but there's not even a thread.
