Game 1
Medusa
Watch here.
Bisu warps in as red at seven o'clock, and Jangbi is blue at ten o'clock. Jangbi scouts after his gateway, and Bisu chooses to scout after his assimilator. Both players scout in the correct direction, finding each other one after the other.. Jangbi places two manner pylons, trapping only one probe. Bisu quickly places a pylon to prevent probes from traveling around the mineral line to a blocked-off mineral while Jangbi sends a zealot into Bisu's mineral line to damage probes. Unfortunately, Jangbi only manages one probe-kill before Bisu kills the zealot and manner pylons with his zealot and dragoon.

Pesky, pesky manner-pylons.
Bisu sends a dragoon up to Jangbi's base to see what Jangbi has, and it's quickly turned away by Jangbi's standing army. Jangbi's made a second gateway as he techs toward reaver for his follow-up attack. Bisu follows the harass by expanding to his mineral-only before teching toward observers and powering up to three-gate.
When Jangbi gets an observer, he scouts the edges of Bisu's base, but fails to spot the mineral-only before Bisu destroys Jangbi's observer and prepares to deflect Jangbi's coming attack. As Jangbi's reaver arrives, he pushes with eight dragoons, two zealots and his shuttle/reaver. With ten dragoons and a zealot, Bisu defends. His micro against the reaver's scarabs is excellent and he's able to minimize the damage until, with seven dragoons, he finds an opportunity to focus-fire on the reaver.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis1_2.jpg)
Say g'night, reaver!
After Jangbi's reaver dies, Jangbi retreats with his two remaining dragoons. Bisu pursues with seven dragoons and two zealots, rallying his gateways toward Jangbi's base. He also uses the time to expand to his natural, but the game's already over.
With only four dragoons for defense, Jangbi delays best he can for his reaver, but Bisu's numbers are much greater and he's able to surround the robotics facility, destoying the reaver soon after it warps in. After his second reaver falls, Jangbi GGs.
+ Show Spoiler [Key Moments] +
Bisu's decision to follow the pylon harass with an expansion was inspired. He knew precisely how much time he had to develop his army to defend against the reaver push. Still, much depended on Jangbi losing his first reaver, because once that was gone, so was Jangbi's chance to catch back up.
Bisu starts as green at the eleven o'clock base, and Jangbi starts as purple at the five o'clock base. Both players place their first gateway, then use their scouting probe to ensure there are no proxy gateways within their mains before scouting to their opponent's base.
Both players concentrate on killing the other's scout probe before teching past their second gateway. Jangbi techs toward templar, and Bisu fast expands. Bisu makes a robotics facility while Jangbi's first two dark templar complete, then Jangbi expands behind his templar.
Bisu spots the dark templar blur within his natural and runs his probes away, blocking his ramp with a dragoon. The seconds tick away as Bisu waits for his observer to complete and Jangbi ruthlessly removes the block on Bisu's ramp, rushing into Bisu's mineral line.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis2_1.jpg)
Bisu notices the blur.
Jangbi gets ten probe-kills before Bisu's observer can complete and the dark templar threat is finally neutralized. In the meanwhile, Jangbi's sent three dragoons and a zealot into Bisu's natural, successfully destroying the nexus before retreating.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis2_2.jpg)
Can't save it...
Battered, Bisu sends a counter attack of eight dragoons, an observer, and a zealot but they have difficulty overrunning Jangbi's seven dragoons with the layout of Destination's ramps creating a buffer between the armies. In the meanwhile, Jangbi's snuck another dark templar into Bisu's main and Bisu's probes pay the price until he can get another observer to spot the dark templar in his main. Back at Jangbi's natural, with probe assistance, Jangbi's able to safely defend against Bisu's counter attack.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis2_3.jpg)
Probes to the rescue!
In a final attempt to claw his way back into the game, Bisu loads a shuttle with some dark templar and heads over to Jangbi's main, but Jangbi's prepared with observers of his own. Bisu baits Jangbi's army to attack him, which Jangbi does, but he keeps three dragoons and an observer in his main to deal with Bisu's drop. With a failed drop, an economy in tatters and an army getting cut down as it flees from Jangbi's hordes, Bisu concedes.
+ Show Spoiler [Key Moments] +
Bisu's observers were just moments too slow to deal with Jangbi's rush. From there it was an uphill battle with Jangbi kicking Bisu in the face as he climbed.
Bisu is red at eleven o'clock. Jangbi warps cross-positions with blue at five o'clock. Both players scout after gateway. Mirroring one another, Jangbi scouts toward two o'clock and Bisu to seven o'clock. When the probes enter their opponent's bases, both players chase their opponent's scouting probe with two zealots as they tech toward dragoons. Cornered by Jangbi's zealot micro, Bisu's probe dies first and Jangbi's probe dies thirty seconds later after Bisu gets his first dragoon.
Both players expand to their mineral only, but while Jangbi get a robotics facility for observers/reavers, Bisu opts for a citadel of adun for templar tech and then a robotics for shuttle.
When Jangbi's shuttle completes, he drops a probe at six o'clock. Bisu goes for a dark templar drops, but flies over Jangbi's probe at six and Jangbi is able to kill the dark templar sent to his main before it can do any damage.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis3_1.jpg)
Stupid probe!
Not one to be denied, Bisu attacks Jangbi's ramp with three dragoons and three zealots while dropping his other dark templar at Jangbi's mineral-only expansion. Jangbi still has two zealots to block his ramp, and after making quick work of the dark templar at his main, Jangbi chases Bisu away from his mineral only.
Bisu expands to his natural next, as does Jangbi. Bisu drops his dark templar at six o'clock, killing Jangbi's probe and preventing the expansion. Then Jangbi moves out with his shuttle, which now has been upgraded with shuttle-speed. Bisu's first observer crosses paths with the shuttle, so Bisu is prepared as Jangbi's shuttle approaches Bisu's main. A dragoon fires upon Jangbi's shuttle and it darts away without doing any damage whatsoever.
Around this time, Jangbi gets stuck on a pylon and drops behind in the macro-game. By the time he can begin making units again, he's 86 population while Bisu's at 112 population. Bisu sets up a contain outside Jangbi's natural with nine dragoons and twenty-one speed zealots, but dares not to attack Jangbi since Jangbi has two reavers to compliment his thirteen dragoons and eleven zealots. Bisu expands behind his contain, claiming nine o'clock as his own.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis3_2.jpg)
Bisu knows better than to attack that...
Deciding against the forward contain, Bisu retreats to a defensive position and adds high templar to his growing army. Jangbi sends his shuttle out along the east side of the map, and Bisu spots it, sending his army to react, cutting off the shuttle from its flight path into Bisu's main. Jangbi reacts quickly to the threat of Bisu's dragoons and redirects his shuttle to travel around Bisu's army.
As Bisu's expansion at nine o'clock completes, Jangbi flies over it with a second shuttle and drops two zealots and a reaver there. Two probes die before Bisu can run them away, and Jangbi loads his reaver back up. Jangbi then flies his first shuttle into Bisu's main, dropping four dark templar over Bisu's nexus. After they kill the cannon in the area, they kill three probes and then concentrate their fire on the nexus, destroying it.
As Bisu sends his army back into his main to deal with the dark templar assault, Jangbi sends his army to nine o'clock to eliminate that expansion. When Bisu finishes off the dark templar, he redirects his army to engage Jangbi's army at nine o'clock, Jangbi repositions his army to create a better formation and then engages Bisu's army. A flurry of psionic storm blankets Jangbi's forces in the first few seconds of the battle and although Jangbi successfully destroys the nexus at nine o'clock, it's quickly apparent that he cannot defeat Bisu's standing army. Within seconds Jangbi's population is reduced to 117 while Bisu maintains at 174.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis3_3.jpg)
Mmmm... toasty blanket!
Jangbi decides that he needs to buy some time to rebuild his army, and drops a reaver at Bisu's natural. Bisu runs his probes, but otherwise ignores the harass as he sends his army to counter Jangbi's base. The reaver is able to kill thirteen probes before it is destroyed by newly-made zealots.
Finally free of the harass, Bisu launches his assault on Jangbi's natural. Jangbi has two storms prepared for Bisu's units, and while the storms find purchase, Bisu just has too many units and overwhelms Jangbi's remaining forces. Jangbi concedes the battle.
+ Show Spoiler [Key Moments] +
Even before Jangbi missed a pylon, his macro wasn't quite as good as Bisu's. Behind in tech, Jangbi's full-blown attack at nine o'clock was ill-advised and spelled his doom in the short-term-- which was all the "term" Bisu allowed him.
Bisu is purple protoss at eleven o'clock and Jangbi is teal protoss at one o'clock. Both players scout the middle of the map after placing their gateways. The probes meet in the middle of Colosseum II and then scout in the correct way.
Both players open with identical builds until the scouting probes are chased away. Jangbi then goes to four gate, while Bisu goes two gate and fast expands. Bisu places two dragoons on his high ground and positions the rest of his units at his choke. When he reaches seven dragoons and two zealots, Jangbi moves out, rallying his gateways to Bisu. Bisu's defense consists of seven dragoons (two on high ground) and two zealots. Bisu pulls probes to assist in his defense and Jangbi's rush fails, escaping with only one dragoon.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis4_1.jpg)
Not gonna work...
As Bisu's third gateway warps in, Bisu places his robotics facility. Jangbi places his nexus at his natural and then just tries to maintain his contain. As Bisu's reaver warps in, Bisu moves out with eleven dragoons a zealot and his shuttle/reaver. Jangbi retreats to his choke to try and find a better position for himself and buy time for his natural to bolster his economy. Bisu positions his army for a contain and then places nine plus cannons on Jangbi's high-ground, reinforcing his position.
![[image loading]](/staff/Tadzio/GOMfinal/janbis4_2.jpg)
Yeah, Jangbi can't do much from this position.
Jangbi eventually moves out with a speed shuttle and attempts to find some hole in Bisu's defense, but finds none. With three speed shuttles, Jangbi drops a smattering of zealots, dark templar and reavers onto Bisu's natural. Bisu successfully defends the attack, and Jangbi retreats his shuttles.
Jangbi then elevates units out from his main and into three o'clock. Bisu notices the movement and contains that force as well, relying on his cannons to prevent Jangbi moving out in any way besides the elevator.
Bisu attacks the elevated units slaughtering them. In a last ditch expression of frustration, Jangbi drops two dragoons, two zealots and a high templar into Bisu's natural, killing some probes before he types out. This means, of course, that BISU is THE CHAMPION and first protoss in history to earn four major titles!
+ Show Spoiler [Key Moments] +
Jangbi's rush timing was just a little too early and he ended up fighting an even-fight on Bisu's doorstep. With faster reinforcements and high-ground (not to mention probes), Bisu held off the assault and coasted to victory from there.
