Welcome to the double edition of TeamLiquids Stats Report. This time we cover the last week of play in round one and the first week of play in round two. Some teams fell down during the transition from round one to two, while others came back from relative obscurity. This report is rather long so lets cut the bull and get down to business.
Team Standings
STX Soul has a lineup which is easily one of the most fearsome that any team could field right now. Calm has become a powerhouse this season, responsible for one third of STX individual wins so far, its hard to dispute that fact. Soul is 8-3 (29-22) at the end of the first round. Though they are only one loss above Samsung KHAN (29-23), both teams are performing well this season.
KHAN comes in at second tied with STX at 8-3 (29-23). Samsung has always fielded a mean lineup in the Proleague and they use it well as they hardly ever fall from a top spot. Right now STX, Lecaf and KHAN match up pretty evenly, even though Lecaf and KHAN have stumbled slightly as of late. Samsung lost three games in a row before their recent victory over Lecaf, that match also gave them the number two spot going into round two.

After spending the first few weeks undefeated Lecaf OZ has fallen to third place in the rankings. Though you can hardly call a 7-4 (27-22) record a bad one, especially when their losses have been against strong teams like MBC and Samsung. Jaedong has been a monster this season; just like Calm he is also responsible for over a third of his teams’ individual wins with two of those being in an ace match.
When I think of a dark horse I think late season, last minute drive. I guess Woongjin Stars aren’t really a dark horse in that respect, they ended the first round strong at 7-4 (25-21).Coming into the season they were not the favorites for a top position, much less to have played so well. Both Free and GGPlay have been strong players for the Stars, along with another Zerg powerhouse, Zero. They have the best ace match record at 3-1 proving that they can perform in a clutch scenario.

Sparkyz and MBC find themselves jockeying for position with KTF and CJ. All four of them are tied at 6-5. CJ leads the pack in individual wins with a 26-19 record; they are closely followed by OGN at 27-22 and not so closely by KTF 25-22 and MBC 25-23. The difference is small between these teams when you look at the stats. For them attrition will play a huge part as they have to trudge their way into the playoffs from behind. All of them have strong lineups as well and can produce a player who will be able to finish a match. CJ Entus has been trailing for this entire season but as of late they have been putting up a lot more wins.
eSTRO took nine of eleven matches to the fifth game; six out of nine times they failed to win that match. If they had been able to clinch those matches they would now be 10-1 and at the top of the Proleague rankings. As of now they sit on the opposite end at 4-7 (24-27). Things are looking up for this team though, they ended the week on a three game winning streak including wins over MBC and CJ Entus. eSTRO still lacks a serious player who can finish a match; they have yet to get a single player inside the top 20 in the ace match rankings this season.

Air Force ACE is once again in dead last. Their record is no better than last week entering the second round of play at 1-10 (9-30) is not exactly ideal. After Anytime, Reach and Casy started their stay at ACE they have not had much of a chance to play, after a little while they may prove to be the catalyst for change. As it stands Oversky holds six out of nine individual wins for ACE. Talk about carrying a team on your back…
Individual and Ace Rankings
Flash returns to the top spot after the second round has begun. He is now 11-4 and the only player in the top 25 for KTF, Luxury lost a few games recently, his stats are now 7-6. Flash is almost alone in his position, Leta and FireBatHero are at number 10 and 11 right now, putting only two Terrans in the top ten.

Right below Flash is Zero from the Woongjin Stars, at 10-3 he maintains a better win loss ratio than Flash but hasn’t played as many games. His teammates Free is also in the top ten, only one spot below Zero in fact. Free is 9-3 and two of his wins are in an ace match, he accounts for two out of three ace wins for the Stars. Despite his teams horrible performance this season Best has kept his pace, he is now10-4 and right in between Zero and Free. Best has won both of his ace appearances for SKT giving them half of their team wins by himself.
Pusan has defied every one of my terrible expectations for him this season. He comes in at number five having lost only two games while winning eight. The nearest MBC player, Saint, is 7-5 sitting just outside the top 25 at the end of round one. Calm follows Pusan with a 10-5 record; he has played more games than any player besides Flash, who is tied with him at 15. Unfortunately he was not able to win enough of those games to improve his ratio into the top 5. Along with July and Hwasin he has been helping STX to come out of the first round strong, and in first place.

Finally fake Yellow, Jangbi and Jaedong round out the top at the end of the first round of play. Jangbi has only lost one game this entire season, going 6-1. Yellow[Arnc] has proven himself valuable to the OGN squad as he goes 8-3, although he may not be as good as the rankings imply as he has yet to win a single ace match.
Sangho has stepped up for eSTRO, winning six of his eight matches and playing in two ace matches (one resulting in a loss the other a win). He is the nearest eSTRO player to the top ten and also the only one in the top 25 as UpMagic sits just outside at 4-2. Sea.Really, another eSTRO player, is also on the outside looking in with a 7-6 record, he is only a few positions below UpMagic.

Stork stumbled slightly towards the end of round one; losing a rather tense ace match to Pusan last week put him at 7-4, inside the top 20. He does have to compete with Jangbi and FBH for playing time which may be the reason Jangbi and FireBatHero have been unable to climb any higher. By.Great is a few positions below Stork at 4-1, which makes him the only other player with only one loss in five games or more.
The top ace players belong to some of the teams which are going through a bit of a rough patch. Especially Best (2-0) who has been trying his hardest to keep the sinking T1 ship afloat. Pusan follows him closely he has played more ace matches than anyone but, of course, the Golden Boy. Pusan is 3-1, every one of MBCs ace wins have been at the hands of Pusan; thanks to him they are 3-5 rather than 0-8.
Flash breaks even this week, he is 2-2 when it comes to ace matches. Unfortunately Flash is unable to play all five games for KTF, if he could they might be doing better this season. The only other player in the top 35 for ace matches is Luxury, who is 0-1 at the moment.
Stats Report Week 1 Round 2
After the first week of play Lecaf OZ retakes the lead with an 8-4 (30-23) record. They also boast the most efficient ace record right now, after starting the season looking like a deep team a few key players have not performed as well as hoped, but their ace players have been able to deliver when it counts.
STX ended the first round in a strong position but have fallen after losses to struggling SKT1 and now 2nd place OGN Sparkyz, STX is now 8-5 (33-28). On the backs of Calm and Kal STX has done very well for themselves this season. They are practically guaranteed a top position going into the New Year, which may mean they could be sitting pretty come playoff time.

At #2 OGN Sparkyz has gone from a middle of the field contender to sitting at the top. They won both of their games in week one of round two, though they played bottom rung ACE which is not really a win to be proud of they did take a match from STX Soul. That game made all the difference as they are now tied with STX in all aspects except their game ratio. OGN is 8-5 (33-26), only two wins above Soul.
The Woongjin Stars continue their success in this season, at 8-5 (29-24) they have maintained a great lineup with free and GGPlay as the foundation. In the first week of round two they faltered slightly as WeMade FOX broke their seven game winning streak in a 1-3 loss for the newly sponsored team. If they are able to keep their heads during this small bump, which they should, the Stars are likely to keep their winning season just that, a winning season.
CJ Entus moves up three spots this week to fifth place, after starting the season with a bit of mediocrity they defeated Samsung KHAN in the first week of round two. They are now 7-5 (26-21) after their win this week and are just below the pack by only a few games. Effort has become one of their most valuable players along with By.Movie and Iris. It also doesn’t hurt that the Maestro seems to have gotten a little bit of his former confidence back; he is now 5-3.
Samsung KHAN and the KTF Magicns have struggled slightly going into the next round of play. KHAN is 7-5 (30-26) after playing only one match in the first week of play KTF is doing slightly worse at 7-6 (29-27), they are riding Flash to victory quite a bit and may have to change that soon if they want to make something of this season. KHAN will probably move back into a top three position after the next week.

MBC Hero also stumbled a bit this week as they dropped from sixth place down the eighth place; they also only played one match this week. They are now 6-6 (29-26) after their disappointing 1-3 loss against Lecaf OZ (but Sea beat Jaedong! WOOT!) MBC has done well this season despite their ranking going into round two, they will have to prove that they have the stamina to be a playoff team, which they have had trouble doing thus far.
The biggest surprise comes from SKT1, though honestly they should have never been in the position to surprise. They spent the first round goofing around with eSTRO and ACE they have moved up to ninth place after key victories against STX Soul and ACE. Now 6-7 (28-32) they seem to be moving out of their funk and into the team which they should be. They are on a three game winning streak right now and are looking to keep it alive after picking up TheZerg a player which they hope can bring their Zerg lineup out of its terrible losing streak,
Both WeMade and eSTRO had some very important matches this past week; FOX beat Woongjin Stars while eSTRO was able to defeat KTF 3-1. eSTRO (5-8 27-31) has struggled to finish matches all season long but they definitely have shown their strength this week against KTF. FOX has fallen in the rankings but that is mostly due to SKT and eSTRO doing well in the past week. They are now 5-8 (24-30); they started the season in a sort of bad stint but have taken wins from a few teams and put together a much better lineup.

ACE continues their quest to have the worst Proleague record of all time, still only one win to their name and 12 losses. Their game ratio is .077 (12-36) with over half of those wins belonging to Oversky, the only player who has consistently performed this season for ACE. With the recent additions of old school giants Reach, Anytime and Casy things were looking up for ACE but as of yet they have not been able to give this team any momentum.
Individual and Ace Statistics
Flash is still on top of the individual rankings, what can I say the kid is KTFs favorite toy. While Flash tops the rankings there is not a single KTF player in the top 30 right now, which speaks heavily to KTFs position in the teams rankings. The situation has not changed to much the entire season for KTF.

Finally some more Terrans have been able to make it into the top ten, FBH and Leta are both 9-4. This entire season has been lackluster for Terran players as Flash has been the only Terran to keep a consistent spot in the top ten. FireBatHero is coming off a fantastic win over Savior this week, his performance is vital to KHANs' team dynamic as both Stork and Jangbi have been performing only mediocre.

As the Terrans move in the Zerg players move out Zero (10-4) and Yellow [Arnc] (10-3) are alone in the top ten, though they are high up there at #3 and #4. The closest Zerg to the top ten is Calm 10-6, who is followed closely by Jaedong with the same record. Neither Yellow nor Zero have been used for the ace match very often, Yellow is now 1-0 and Zero has yet to be fielded.
SKT has seen both Bisu (7-2) and Best (11-4) performing well this season; it seems that it is finally paying off as well. Fantasy is also doing his part to bring SKT1 back to their former glory, he is now 8-4 he also rounds out SKTs list of players in the top 25. They have had a lot of trouble bringing a good Zerg player to the table this season, with the TheZerg coming over to T1 as the second round starts they might be able to change that.
Calm (10-6) and Kal (10-7) are holding STX up as both of them have played nearly 20 games for their teams. They are alone in the top 30 for STX, the closest player being Modesty who is 1-0. JulyZerg is also outside of the top 30 as he breaks even at 4-4.
That Does It
That does it for this double edition of the official TeamLiquid stats report for the 2008-09 Shinhan Bank Proleague. STX Soul ended the first round out front but has fallen back a bit in the first week of round two. Lecaf OZ reclaimed there number one spot after a few problems towards the end of the first round, while Samsung KHAN has fallen quite a bit in the rankings but hopefully they can fix that soon.
