For those of you who don't know me i'm Nick Plott also known as 'Tasteless.' I've been a competitive gamer on SC since the game has come out and have since then moved on to shoutcast many live tournaments such as WCG, Blizzcon, WWI and others. I do this because i love this game and esports in general and also have a long time interest in helping it's growth. A week ago i was informed that Arirang TV (http://www.arirang.co.kr/index.asp) has been looking for an English RTS caster. I am very happy to tell you all i have been accepted for this position and will now be broadcasting on Korean national television.
When i first started casting i promised myself i would only cast SC because i feel (actually i flat out know) that SC is the best and most hardcore esports game ever made. However, after time i learned that it was difficult to get hired for many of these events if i was only casting one game. The result was me occasionally casting Warcraft 3 as long as i was casting Starcraft as well. In Korea i will be covering both War3 and SC because i would not have been hired otherwise. Because i have been vested with the privilege of bringing SC and War3 coverage i plan on working very hard to update my war3 knowledge so i can give the best coverage possible.
Many of you may know i have tried to get in to Korea to broadcast before but have only managed to cover specific events. One of my major goals was getting a permanent job in Korea so i could cover events year round. Unfortunately Korea is a very closed culture as far as esports goes and it's hard to get inside that microcosm unless you have good connections. It was not me who even figured out that Arirang was hiring, it was none other than probe/cannon/scout master Rekrul. Rekrul not only discovered that Arirang was hiring but managed to convince (or use DA mind control ability on) the company that i was the right person for the job. I would have never had this chance unless Rek had gone out of his way to do this and for that i thank him. I also ask everyone at TL.net to thank him because, even if you don't like my casts, people like rekrul are helping esports to expand to a broader audience--and that's a good thing. You probably need to cut down on the cursing during your commentating though haha~~
war3 advice: You could ask Rek to introduce you to some war3 pros, current and retired. If I remember correctly, Rek is close to Zacard, who retired earlier this year among others.

Holy shit, awesome! Who the fuck is Jason Lee? Best thing that could possibly happen to progaming for countries outside of korea EVER. This could lead to so much if eventually korean starcraft matches are broadcast other places, and english commentary would obviously be the first step.

Very cool. No offense but these are the kinds of things that solidfy my belief that its not what you know (college) its who you know (networking/using skill).

Wont' you need some kind of Korean ID? Can someone explain how that Korean ID stuff works? Sometimes I want to make an account in a Korean website, but it doesn't let me cuz it says I need an ID (even though I don't understand Korean language )
Wow that is awesome! Congratz man and keep up the good work. Try to spot all the things going on in the game, e.g. comments like "WHOA WHERE DID THE CARRIERS COME FROM" should remain in´the past.
Also, to help the spread of esports even more you might want to consider contacting some of your local news outlets and trying to get a story going on this, especially as the time comes closer to when you actually go.
I really enjoy your commentating, and i im super amped to hear you commentate live and direct from korea I think you understand what a big thing this is! the rest of us do!

Although I can't say I love every single one of your shoutcasts, you do have many bright moments and I'm a big fan of your type of humor. All in all very good news to get an English commentator down there. Can't wait to sink my teeth into English VODs.

Tasteless if this ends up not working out you should go to broadcasting school or something if this is your dream and not just a means of getting to Korea to have some fun with your life.
Rekrul's influence in Korea is really amazing at this point. But Tasteless if this is your passion you have a lot of work to do, I don't mean any offense but you're really far from what I would consider a good caster. Either way I think you'll have a lot of fun in Korea so enjoy yourself. It will look good on your resume regardless

I was woundering what angel you are going to put on the casting..I mean the previous casting has been extremly good, but also they have been for the guys who are kinda new to this and dosn't know starcraft that well, explaining stuff like what a ramp is and things like that.
Do you think thats gonna be the style of commentary in korea as well, or we are gonna hear a much more deep analysis, like the once in korea ( i think) are now? or maby a mix?
I would think the second option, but still kinda interessting to hear an answer about this. Thx.
