Although getting an account on OGN or MBC seems to be difficult and expensive, there is another option if you want to watch StarCraft on your computer, live and when it happens.
The program is called Afreeca, and it is the spawn of PDBox (which was the beta). This is a guide on how to create an account, and then use and install the program. The work was done by EtErNaLAeOn for the first part, and IntoTheWow for the second part.

How to make an Account
Go to: http://www.pdbox.co.kr/afreeca
How to install the player and get games:
First go to this site: http://afreeca.pdbox.co.kr/ be sure you are browsing this site with Internet Explorer or otherwise some of the steps wont work.
You will see a login card in the top left corner, fill it in with the following information (or the account that you created above).
Username: noLexX
Password: 1234
Then click on the lock as shown in the picture.
After logging in, the page should refresh showing a different card now. Something like this:
Be sure the dropmenu is showing what the picture is and now click on the blue ball once. An activeX screen should pop in the top of your internet explorer. Allow the Afreeca player to be installed. Page should refresh itself while doing this (IE could get stuck a litte, just let it load).
After the page refreshed click on the blue ball once again. A window should prompt asking to install Afreeca on your PC.
Click on the [Agree] box, and then on the [Next] box. Program should install itself and create an icon in your desktop.
Now all we have to do is search for a channel straeming starcraft
The program itself looks something like this:
Click on the button with the red box. It should load a channel list. Now we have to find a channel there with a starcraft related picture or name. (note: the button on the right to the one i boxed works as a refresh button from what i know).
There i click on a channel to join it. Theres a list on the right with the people in the channel, under it theres a shoutbox. On the left, the channel should load, theres a "add to favorites button", a stop, muta and volume buttons.
Go watch some Starcraft

To Broadcast
Ok, the following picture will explain how to make your own broadcasts with Afreeca player, the new Wplayer.
First, you have to log in at http://afreeca.pdbox.co.kr/
The Blue button will allow you to watch broadcasts, but we don't need it.
the GREEN BUTTON will allow you make your very own broadcasts. Once you press the green button, you will see the following screen:
The above pic is pretty self explanatory.
Add all the information in the middle window,
The squarie button on the bottom left hand side is the button that will start the broadcast.
Then, you will get the following screen:
The new window is the little camera that will broadcast everything in it. To expand the window, press the double sided arrow.
To actually start the capture, you must press the LITTLE RED DOT on the top left hand side of that new window.

Yes. Follow these steps and you can see it for free. It isnt guaranteed, but it is the best free option around.
Often, the streams on this service are ahead of my official OGN account.

To #1: You dont understand what Afreeca is.
You can basically stream everything whats on your screen.So OGN and MBC is no problem,it can be streamed as an image of the Internet Stream or as real TV-Broadcast. (If the caster has a TV-Card)

Give IE some time? ... takes a year.  Get stuck when clicking the blue button after logging in, a pop-up window named "afreeca - ????" comes up and IE freezes... Am I missing smth? Please help.

Sometimes streaming quality depends on the caster.
Some casters can hold up to 200 people with no problems of loading.
Other caser can only hold 20 or so, and with loading problems.
Depends on your and their connection.

If this truly is live, couldn't this lead to people cheating on liquidbet? i.e. waiting mid-game when a player has a significant advantage and then voting?

Tools>Internet Options>Security>Adjust> ... check boxes to activate ActiveX...
... BUT! It didn't work for me anyhow...... =(

Ok finaly after around 20-25 min it loaded. Installing now...

Ok another problem --
I installed the program and i got icon on desktop, but when i click it it just opens http://afreeca.pdbox.co.kr/ in firefox!? So i tried opening it in IE and clicking blue button again but it's just start with the installing part again. How can i start the program?

Finaly i got it started after installing again. Now is there any way i can like lower the quality cause i have 256k and it's working teribly slow, buffering every 5-10 seconds.

256k is way too low.You can only join channels who stream with 200kb/s then.Most channels are about 400-600 kb/s.

Also they air a lot of movies there. The new way of piracy lol - streaming them live. I can't wait for the first guy sitting with a notebook and webcam broadcasting a premiere live over the internet lol. Or other stuff like a live shoutcast from a concert. I tried it agian and I got some channels, but I noticed that if I click the second tab, all my channels disapear and I have to close the program and open it again, did you say that is that tab was the refresh tab?

Don't press that tab, it's useless. The guide creater made a mistake. The second tab is a "favourite" tab

i met some guys who were chatting in english at SC channels in Afreeca
and some people don't appreciate it. you can even get kicked out...
so i'd say look out a bit.....not that it's fair...but it's also unfair if you get kicked out for a reason that is unknown to you (since you probably don't speak korean ^^)

i found a better way to watch korean tv. well at least mbc.

select South Korea on the left column and there should be the mbc channel. very simple and easy. dont know if they show osl there tho =(.

I logged in then I clicked the green button
In afreeca studio I entered a name, a description, a pass and push the preview button
after I pushed the red buton on the recording screen
I was able to see the preview of what I would be broadcasting
but when I push the "start" buton i got this error

Since gomtv and yauyan both suck now adays and sc2.org went dead for w/e reason can we still use afreeca?
I tried it but everytime I try to watch anything now it brings me to the homepage. It looks like it wants me to purchase something. Any ideas?
