BarCraft and Meetup Listing
January 25th, 2012 10:18 GMT
We're happy to introduce a new section on our site to help you find StarCraft related events in your area. Our BarCrafts & Meetups page is a quick way to see what events are going on near you, and allows you to RSVP to them so organizers can easily gauge interest. A link to the page is also available in the top TL menu bar.
Organizers of a BarCraft or similar StarCraft-related meetup should read this thread for further instructions on adding your event to our list. There will never be any charge associated with listing your event on this page.
We hope this feature makes it easier to find out what's going on nearby and helps the BarCraft scene continue to grow. Please note that the page is still under active development, so expect more features to be available over the coming weeks.

Great idea! glad to see this happen. Know ill be less likely to miss any goin on in my area ^^
Teamliquid just keeps getting better and better. Will there be a featured barcraft list?
This is awesome, thank you!
Are we still allowed to make single threads for Barcrafts? I only knew there was a Barcraft in Hamburg, because I saw the thread for it on the sidebar of TL. It`s highly unlikely that I will regularly check the barcraft index and therefore I fear to maybe miss a meetup.
Sweet, I hope we get more guys at london :D
Awesome R1ch
Yay! :D such a great idea! Might get more folks involved!
Nice feature!

But if you know an event is coming up you can check the page for a barcraft in your area.

Awesome addition to the site, congrats TL.

This is pretty cool. Very nice addition!
now that looks really cool!!! great job guys!
Very nice addition! Well done!

I think a timetable could be important. example: the opening game begins at 3pm in my local time. Then I go to a barcraft and I see "open from 6pm".

Not sure what you mean by a timetable. The times listed on the page will be the local time in the area of the barcraft.

Some feedback:
- Please make it possible to either suggest a new "Category" or just leave that for free text. I am hosting a Barcraft for the MSI Pro Cup this evening and there is no category for that, as there isn't for most other "non-usual" stuff.
- The need for a TL thread is ok, but maybe you can also feature a FB integration. For example: Let users insert the event link from fb, extract the time, name, location and so on from there. Shouldnt be a big effort since fb always sorts and names them the same. At least give the possibility to enter a fb event as further information.
Suggestions for the future (maybe v2):
- You could add a sidebar for users that checks for their Country and lists Barcrafts in their country (similar to the streams-list). That way, the users dont have to open the overview to see if there is a barcraft in their country or even neighborhood.
Suggestions for future (v3+)
- Make it possible to enter a city in your profile (optional of course and chooseable if its shown or not), then calculate distances to the next barcraft.
And of course, since its not all just tampering: Great job! I really like it that you feature Barcrafts more. I'm hosting my second Barcraft tonight and I plan to do this more often here in Nuremberg, Germany. This would make an excelent addition to the FB page and the TL thread just to get people noticing.
So keep going, the way is good

thank you so, so much...this is you have to love Team Liquid ^_^
Awesome! TY TL! Your efforts for the community are big time!
Excellent idea!
Although I don't drink, I'd love to attend one. I'll drink cranberry juice. Maybe in few years such events will start occurring where I live.
very good - will be posting tons of events
This is a nice feature, hope it gets used to death.
Nice vidéo from P&T ( Pomf & Thud, french casters ) on the screen ! :D
I think who ever had this idea is a genius.
Looks like a pretty great idea to me. Much nicer to be able to have all Barcraft information gathered in a central TL hub rather than having to trawl Reddit for it.
Thanks to those who put time and effort in building it
Nice addition having my finger crossed that someone will do one in my area soon :D

If the Time column is renamed to Local Time, we won't really have to worry about that. BarCraft is a geographical event anyways.

I had a wet dream about it last night

After you added some barcraft events on that list, the problem is solved. Yes adding CET, GMT,... would be fine.

This is absolutely amazing! Thanks very much for this :3
TL as per usual taking steps in the right direction.
Man would I love to see something like this in the Scranton area in PA. While it is nice to sit at home with a pizza and watch an MLG event, it was awesome when I went to Columbus and met some really awesome people there who had similar interests. When I tell my friends that I went to MLG, they're like O_o , lol.
Edit: Should stay on topic, lol. This is a great idea by TL. Having information in one place for people to find is always a winning strategy when it comes to internet ideas. Similar to the tournament tracker, it's only going to get better with time.
Wow TL, you did it again. Awesome initiative!! <3
Nice, can you maybe add a feature so the barcrafts of your own country are highlighted or something like that? (if it isn't implemented already)
Thank you for this new feature, will definitly use it to promote my barcrafts here in aachen, germany Horray for the tl admins!
Awesome! TL is all about community first.
very nice. happy to see this.

great idea! I hope it helps with the organization of these events.

Sick addition to the website! Really happy u guys made it. Sadly i don't think barcrafts will ever be organised in my country :"< non-esport friendly country >.>
This is awesome.

This is so wonderful it brings tears of goy to my eyes.

This makes me happy. I'll be using this as soon as the Barcraft NL 2012 plans take a bit more shape.
This is such an excellent idea and feature. Where is that donate button...
Please bring this to Texas, near Houston. US. :D

Ironic, TeamLiquid is saving barcraft the same day GOMtv kills one.
So sweet. Thanks for this!
Nice Feature, thanks for that!
Thanks R1CH for putting this together in one spot.

Superb addition to the site. This will make it far easier for people to discover when and where barcrafts are taking place, which in turn should hopefully lead to more popularity for live events like this! :D
Thoughts: If the list gets busier, we will need filtering options! Potential to sign up to receive notifications based on our location? I'd love to get email notifications letting me know a new barcraft is being organised in my local area, that would be fantastic.
Brilliant! Can't wait for the SC2 season to start up in full!
There needs to be a barcraft in Bowling Green or Columbus Ohio
Such an awesome idea! Hopefully I can finally attend a barcraft in my area.
great idea :D and sick graphics too!
Very cool Rich. Nice graphcis HawaiianPig.
Thank you very much for the new features! TeamLiquid endorsing BarCraft movement is very gratifying.
How does one fix/update an event entry after it's accepted?
Seem like the Location column is not well used atm and inconsistent:
[City name] [Bar name][City name] [Bar name] [City name][Bar name]
maybe add an extra column for city?
Team Liquid still topping the communal effect!
Rich being rich
like a boss
EDIT: shit that page is gorgeous, why you so handsome rich?
Nice feature addition... makes finding them WAAAY easier
Will this be integrated in the regular calander in some way? I'm not sure what would be best but it would be cool if like under the MLG stream links there were listings for all the barcrafts going on for that event. Perhaps even something to remind people ahead of time so they could make plans... not sure how that would go though.
Aww yeah!!!! this is fucking awesome

Sweet addition to the always useful TL page of awesome.

Pretty awesome addition to the site. It lets the Barcraft scene escape the clutter of the regular boards and gives them a significant spotlight too. Thanks for doing this!

This is awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing events pop up near Atlanta, Knoxville, and Nashville!

Fantastic stuff! I remember last MLG finals when I happened to be in stockholm over the weekend. I tried to find a place to go watch it at but had to search for ages to find one. This will help out a lot in the future for me.

This is great, but I wish these other North Carolinians would get into Starcraft! They sure do like to drink, but no Crafters to be found anywhere here in Asheville!!!

Always winning, R1CH you're a champ.
Man, R1CH, you're awesome.
Great addition, found a barcraft in Irvine on the very first time looking at it!
On the 26th of Februari there will be a Barcraft event in Sweden, Gothenburg to show the finals for Assembly. The bar is called Vasastan and will be open from 12pm. So just drop in during the day and have a chat with like minded people, grab a meal and wash it down with some ale, at a Barcraft we're all friends!
Barcrafts should expect their attendance to triple for the upcoming MLG Winter Arena event in NYC. MLG will be charging $20 for you to be able to watch 100% of the SC2 action. I would much rather spend that $20 supporting a barcraft event. GL to all barcrafts!
