In the same way it isn't good business sense to completely ignore sponsors, it isn't good to just accept funds from whatever organization that rolls in. Look at the announcements for this sponsorship, as well as Razer and TLAF. The emphasis is that these are companies that Liquid management believe put forth a quality product and ones whose names they can be proud to bear on Liquid jerseys. Finding brands you can really say that about with complete confidence can't be easy. On top of that, you have to consider that while TL offers a lot of exposure as the largest SC2 hub out there, the actual team didn't come into being until last July (in the sense that was the first time it had any sponsorship at all ). So while you or me may look at TL as a powerhouse when it comes to marketability and exposure, the team is still the new kid on the block compared to teams that have been paying their players for years and years. All these teams are fighting for a finite amount of sponsorship money, and the guys who have been around longer have an advantage when it comes to securing their share of the pot. edit: I wrote all of this and forgot to mention how excited I am about the sponsorship lol.
