Hahaha hilarious interview with HuK/Jinro. Sucks to hear it though, delays and unhelpful people while traveling is the worst.

Understandable situation with TLO, not really sure why people would be hating on him/TL for it. The SC2 eSport scene is so new that tournament schedule conflicts are bound to happen until everything gets a little more organized internationally.

Thanks for the replays! HayprO/Tyler nom nom. Good weekly as always!

You guys find this acceptable? I think it's extremely bad form. You can't just sign stuff left and right and then go 'ooops'.

Its not like they knew this schedule conflict would happen when they signed the contract lol

OF COURSE this is acceptable.

let's put this into perspective:

ESL had its rules changed to give TLO the chance to qualify for the second season of SC2 ESL Pro Series which was pretty controversial within the german community and put a pretty bad light onto the ESL.

ESL then scheduled two offline Events during the Playoffs, where one single match is to be played and crew, casters, equipment, visitors are all just there for this match in berlin. they had a community-poll about which match is to be played, the TLO - Socke game won. he basically gave all his german fans who are traveling to berlin to watch him play the middle finger.

it is OF COURSE unaccetable to withdraw from this match and the whole event, and to be honest, I think it's absolutly neccessary to ban TLO from any future ESL competitions.

How the hell did he give them the middle finger? Do you not understand how a contract works? And on a far more basic level, why would you think TLO would NOT want to compete? These arguments that TLO is a dick for doing this are completely absurd.

Do you even understand what a contract is? If TLO doesn't go to MLG, he can be sued and lose everything he owns. It's is completely acceptable he had to drop out of ESL, but unfortunate.

Link to the EPS announcement?

I sympathize with you guys trying to deal with customs at the airport in Istanbul. I flew through there a few years ago and had similar problems. I had a 3 hour layover with some German colleagues, and we all wanted to go out and have a kebab or something and just tool around Istanbul for a bit. The Germans could go through customs just fine and dandy, but they wanted me (the American) to buy a $30 Visa. For two hours in Turkey? Are you fucking crazy? I pretty much told those customs officers to fuck themselves.

Turkey has a pretty ugly history of political relations with the United States. Something about Reagan and airfields (access point to the Middle East)... don't really know the whole story.

Is it acceptable that the ESL still has not announced a set date for the EPS finals but just the Week? Imagine if every Tournament organizer would do that (and then say: "oh but you know our tournament is always on wednesday, didn't you know that?). Especially as they know the date for like a year already, why don't they write it in public then?

The cancelled IFNG match obviously really sucks but the ESL was informed about the schedule conflict way before the Poll ended (or maybe even before it began, but I think it was shortly after, however it was 100% before the 1st round of playdown matches were played)... so it was ESL not reacting to the information quickly enough to avoid the situation we have now (don't really want to speculate about their reasons, it most certainly was with good intentions trying to find a better solution).

And ESL changing the rules to accomodate TLO is really not you can hold against him, as the ESL did that without even informing him and in their own interest.

Wow...be more butt-hurt about this, please. Do you not understand the legal obligations of a contract? TLO has to attend MLG because of a contractual obligation to his sponsor, Sony Ericsson. It's not personal and he's not giving you or anybody else the middle finger. Get over yourself.

It's unfortunate he had to cancel, for everybody's sake, but unavoidable at this point. We can only hope things like this happen less often once international eSports become more organized.

Glad to finally have some word on the side of the TLO/ESL drama. I wonder why ESL chose to release the information before the agreed-upon date.

It's really too bad that the scheduling conflict occurred and TLO has to remove himself from the tournament. A contract is a contract though.

Wow you are an idiot.

If he had decided to not go to MLG, he would have been breaking his contract - so you would have most likely said the same thing then too.

Good ban whomever made it.

Yeah, Turkey gave a pretty good impression the further away you got from the customs.

Wow hold on there, do you have any idea how are the citizens of Turkey are treated in customs of States, and how difficult it is to acquire a visa even after the needlessly harsh treatment. And you can bet that it wont end good for you if you tell the US customs staff to fuck themselves.

I am sure a lot of turkish officials at the customs are assholes, and as Jinro already put, them and their attitudes were the only problem. But that doesn't imply any more things than that.

That is not directly about the political relations you kinda mentioned, it is more about this undisclosed "treat the x country's citizens as our citizens are treated at x" thing in customs. Especially the retarded assholes amongst the turkish customs officials can only be happy to proceed the way their counterparts at the US do.

You can talk about a story that even you mention that you don't know about? that is neat.
Turkey has been one of the founding countries of NATO, it was a member before Western Germany or Spain, There has even been a Turkish Deputy Secretary General for NATO.

The best part about this side discussion is that HuK is indeed, Canadian. Racial profiling is ALWAYS bad, not just when American's do it.

Also since many Liquid guys seem to be reading this it's as good a place as any: good luck in all your upcoming matches guys, recent struggles be damned we know you guys can perform! Foreign GSL champion =]]]
