***This is a post shamelessly stolen from Arbiter[Frolix] from last seasons OSL. The reason I did not write my own is that there is just no way that I could do as well. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
The EVER Ongamenet Starleague reached its climax on Saturday with the final between the Emporer and The Machine. In the wake of what was a titanic final, TeamLiquid.net will present its own awards for the achievers and inspirers, the failures and flops of the Starcraft world. TeamLiquid forumers will have their chance to contribute to the EVER OSL TeamLiquid.net awards. There are seven categories:
The 'Garimto' Award for Player of the Tournament To the player TeamLiquid.net believes was the overall highest achiever in this OSL. The contenders should be obvious.
The 'Mumyung' Award for Worst Player Who deserved to have been consigned to the rubbish heap during the Dual Tournament?
The 'Boxer' Creativity/Inspiration Award Go with your gut feeling. Which player showed the greatest creativity or brightened the tournament with his flair and inspiration?
The 'Chojja' Missing in Action Award Which 'name' failed to live up to his billing and left himself with something to prove?
Game of the Tournament Which individual game was the most exciting or entertaining of the tournament? Or which game showed the highest skill?
The 'WTF!' Moment of the Tournament Award Which single moment rocked the tournament more than any other?
Player Most Likely to Win the Next Starleague To the player TeamLiquid.net believes will triumph next time out.
You can vote on all or just a few of the catagories, and voting will end on Friday November 27th. All votes should be PM'ed to Manifesto7. Also, please put awards or tl awards or something in the subject line so I can differentiate between PM's. Thanks a lot.
*A quick note, the prediction last season of who would win the next OSL was.. Iloveoov. Damn your all so smart.

Boxer Award will go to... Boxer.

Chojja has a good shot of winning next OGN.Garimto award should go to Oov(they both won BOXER 3/2)Fuck the MuMyung award(neither he nor anyone in the starleague deserves it).Boxer award should go to Boxer(for his rushes) AND Oov(You may say Oov is a machine ,but 3 port wraiths from 1 base is 3 FUCKING PORTS FROM 1 BASE) I havent seen any of the games(fucking bulgarian internet), but I'd say Game 5 of Oov vs Reach and also some of the final games should be there.Oov vs Nada 3rd game too.I dont remember much from the previous games.
WTF?!Boxer rushed him THREE TIMES??!

its oscar times already again? time moves so fast

should we also state the reason for why our choices are as they are, or just put a name?

This is what I PM'd to Mani:
The 'Garimto' Award for Player of the Tournament: I would say this one easily goes to Boxer. Everyone knows how hard he was criticized about how he would do in this starleague. Many believed he wouldn't even make it out of his groups because he was in a ' slump ' But look what he did, he took Oov to 5 games, and managed to dismantle Yellow in a fucking amazing fashion. Aside from Oov winning the actual league, I doubt there is anyone else in contention for this award.
The 'Boxer' Creativity/Inspiration Award This award can't go to anyone but Boxer. The only player in the world who could possibly take it away is Nal_rA who wasn't in this league.
The 'Chojja' Missing in Action Award I would have to give this one to Nada. Alot of people were rooting for him, wanting Nada to win this league, but Nada barely did anything to ' wow ' anyone this league. Alot was expected from him, but little came.
Game of the Tournament: This was a close call between the finals and Reach vs Yellow game 5. I think everyone was fucking pissing themselves when they saw the return of Hero Mudang Toss. It was nostalgic, and for protoss players everywhere, fucking amazing.
The 'WTF!' Moment of the Tournament Award: This defintely goes to the Boxer vs Yellow semis. It's just impossible to put into words what happened, how Yellow must feel, how Boxer must feel, and what effects this will have on the entire sc community.
Player Most Likely to Win the Next Starleague If there is an option for ' Nobody, because many players have equal chances ' then that's what I would say. Players like Nada, Boxer, Xellos, Nal_rA, Reach, Yellow are going to want to prove something, especially Yellow and Boxer. Oov may just win because he's that damn good.

Big suprise that Ack1027 gave the Garimto award to Boxer. =]
Anyways, i was unable to watch the games because of Internet explorer problems(you can't watch with mozilla/firefox) and the owner of my id not paying. Problems is fixed now and i saw the ending of the finals. But other than that i have only seen around 10 games and i don't think i know enough about the shape of the players/quality of games to judge who is best.

reach vs oov game1 was so awesome seriously, much better than game5 my wtf moment was yellow expanding in 3rd game vs boxer, i mean COME ON
|
tha garimto award for oov , u know why the mumyung award is not important, doesn't matter the boxer award will always go to boxer(maybe nal_ra is the "boxer"in toss race) the wtf moment yellow vs boxer 3 games the player Most Likely to Win the Next Starleague is oov
|
The 'Garimto' Award for Player of the Tournament iloveoov
The 'Mumyung' Award for Worst Player jju simply because he went 0-3 and out of group... but this is really a bad award because none of them are bad players.
The 'Boxer' Creativity/Inspiration Award Boxer!!
The 'Chojja' Missing in Action Award tough... give it to julyzerg... although people didn't expect much from him its still pretty sad to see OGN champions do so poorly, almost getting out in groups, and then crushed by yellow >:D
Game of the Tournament theres a TON of choices, i have to say Boxer vs Oov game 4, just because it was in the finals, and boxer's micro was ridiculous =D (other notables ones were reach vs oov game 1, reach vs yellow game 5, kingdom vs. boxer in group stages...)
The 'WTF!' Moment of the Tournament Award boxer vs yellow ~_~
Player Most Likely to Win the Next Starleague Boxer will get his 3rd starleague win!!
|
I'd give player of the tournament to Boxer too. It is the trend of late for OOv to steamroll everyone he plays, but Boxer must have been giving absolutely everything he had to get into the finals. I don't think any of you can honestly say you expected to see him in the finals.
|
Garimto award: Probably Oov. For being so domimant and extreme. He is a machine after all.
Chojja award: Probably Boxer. Many thought this would be his next coming of championship. Nothing taken from boxer, he is still the best but, I think he was more 'hyped' to win this league then any other. I think he definitely feels he has something to prove. I think he gave us his 1st vision of what he wanted to prove v yellow in semi's.
Boxer award: Probably Goodfriend. I member 1-2 leagues ago this guy was considered a Terran knock-off of mumyung, being lucky to be where he is and an easy win for the other pro's in his group. Today, he's coming up w/ some unorthodox'd strats riviling that of the mighty Kang himself.
Best tournament match: I'd say, even though I haven't seen it yet, Reach v Yellow 3rd place qualifying match, game 5. I hear / read that Reach came back from almost nothing against a 3-base lead, yellow. Yellow said in his interview that he just attacked mindlessly, not paying attention and what not, but still. Three bases to one! I guess it is lucky that yellow somewhat 'slacked' during that last game.
Player to win next OGN: I'd like to say Reach. I definitely like Reach the best of all pro-gamers and Pro-Protoss. He's been doing good lately. Hopefully he can go w/o falling into a slump and get #1 spot. If not Reach, then Kang!!
|
Best game was either game 1 of reach vs oov, or game 5 of reach vs yellow. I had orgasmic pleasure watching him storm the hell out of yellow's troops, but I thought his game vs oov was really solid and exciting. Edit: Boxer vs. Oov game on pelennor should also be considered. OOoooh, so many great games, can't decide!
Garimto award - People who say Boxer has a point. I thought he was very strong vs oov, and that he outplayed oov for many of the game. Just oov simply stretched the game out and made it more of a macro-based game, and rolled over Boxer. But I still say oov should be, after impressive and really tough victories over Nada, Reach and Boxer.
Boxer award - Boxer? hehehe. His infantry build on requiem vs oov was just so cool.

feh, and you call yourself a journalist.

Also, Reach wins the Garimto, Boxer, and most likely to win the next starleague awards
|
I don't like ooV or Boxer and I rooted for OOV over boxer but Boxer deserves Garimto award.

gogo chojja will win next time ! didnt julyzerg won the last ?

This is what I'm gonna PM to Mani in a few seconds
The 'Garimto' Award for Player of the Tournament To the player TeamLiquid.net believes was the overall highest achiever in this OSL. The contenders should be obvious.
I think this award should go to Iloveoov. Many already tipped him to be the winner of the previous OSL (which JulyZerg won) so he had something to prove this time around. Not only that but he kept making public promises on how he should win this tournament, putting an awful amount of extra pressure on himself by himself. He kept his promises though and made it all the way to the grand finals of the tournament where he met his teammate, mentor and good friend Lim Yo Hwan. This battle proved to be a battle beyond the game, straining both players to the maximum on the psychological battlefield. When the smoke cleared up there was one man left standing: Iloveoov. Even though he emerged victorious, a moment to definitely celebrate, he gave up his moment of glory to comfort his friend in need. A man truly worthy of the title 'player of the tournament'.
The 'Mumyung' Award for Worst Player Who deserved to have been consigned to the rubbish heap during the Dual Tournament?
Even though there wasn't really any true rubbish player around, I think Jju qualifies for the title, since he proved in the past (be it in other leagues) he can do so much better. Granted, his opponents were very strong TvZ players (Sync and Oov) and arguably the best ZvZ player (Gorush).
The 'Boxer' Creativity/Inspiration Award Go with your gut feeling. Which player showed the greatest creativity or brightened the tournament with his flair and inspiration?
Who else would deserve this title other than Boxer himself? Though Reach showed some class builds as well, Boxer sometimes just dominated with his builds (his Requiem TvT plays are so solid it almost seems like he's the only T player who understands that map). And who could forget the rushes he pulled off against Yellow in the semis.
The 'Chojja' Missing in Action Award Which 'name' failed to live up to his billing and left himself with something to prove?
Definitely Nada. In previous interviews he said he was changing his style (whihc did reflect in some games like the one vs Oversky) but he also said he was going to take the #1 KeSPA spot back. I guess he did ok this OSL since he did make it to the quarters, but doing ok is not going to cut it if you're up against Iloveoov. I think the runner up would be Kingdom who didn't even qualify for the next round despite his good performance last OSL and his brilliant performance in last MSL (which he could've won if he wouldn't have sold his games on Parallel Lines so bad).
Game of the Tournament Which individual game was the most exciting or entertaining of the tournament? Or which game showed the highest skill?
Before the semis of Oov vs Reach started I was wishing it would've been Nada v Xellos instead. Good thing that didn't happen because they took an awesome semi final series right off the bat. The first game was a grueling 40 minute long PvT, where Oov and Reach showed an awesome amount of macro. Oov sent wave after wave after wave of forces to crush Reach, but Reach countered with excellent storms while in the mean time destroying Oov's expansions, which he constantly put up. This really was 40 minutes of non stop action and a display of both player's macro abilities. The runner up is Nada v Oversky in Week 5 where Nada used a single Vulture to harass and kill drones and in the mean time expanding. Oversky proceeded to keep Nada at bay with Mutas and killed quite a number of SCV's and Marines in the process. But eventually it wasn't enough. Nada irradiated his Mutas and left his base with an insane amount of units killing almost all of Oversky's units in the choke where he sieged his tanks.
The 'WTF!' Moment of the Tournament Award Which single moment rocked the tournament more than any other?
Well I think there's only one moment in this tournament that single handidly stands out, even though it is not a WTF of rock but a WTF of shock! I'm talking about the Boxer v Yellow semifinals of course where Boxer demolished Yellow in record speed and had left everbody in a dazzled state, be it of awe or grief. I bet Boxer changed a lot of people's TV evening plans with his actions and a lot of negativity towards the games was projected afterwards. I personally think, however, that it really shows Boxer's strong mindset to win at any cost.
Player Most Likely to Win the Next Starleague To the player TeamLiquid.net believes will triumph next time out.
This is more difficult than the previous one, because it seems Oov's reign of terror is ending and people are catching up on him from all sides. There's a lot of really strong contenders now all capable of taking the much sought after crown. But if I really have to pick one it would be Reach. He has been so close the last two times that he really needs to pull through this time. He showed his amazing skill every time he played and I hope he will continue that in the next OSL

I've never been much of a Boxer fan. But after watching the finals vods- how can anyone not love him?
|
stop fucking hating on mumyung, hes manner and decent i fuking hate u! I LOVE MUMYUNG I LOVE MUMYUNG( he is a bit ugly though) TT
|
Props to Vader who understood that beating Reach and Boxer in the semi/finals showed Oov deserves the award of Player of the Tournament.
Not someone who came in 3rd. hint hint
|
The 'WTF!' Moment of the Tournament Award lol
|
The 'Garimto' Award for Player of the Tournament To the player TeamLiquid.net believes was the overall highest achiever in this OSL. The contenders should be obvious.
I will say BoxeR. Many ppl predicted a 0-3 loss but he made it to the finals, and could have won if he held his nerve and didn't make so many mistakes.
The 'Mumyung' Award for Worst Player Who deserved to have been consigned to the rubbish heap during the Dual Tournament?
None. This award belongs to mumyung, and there are few contenders for his throne.
The 'Boxer' Creativity/Inspiration Award Go with your gut feeling. Which player showed the greatest creativity or brightened the tournament with his flair and inspiration?
Boxer. Same reason as above.
The 'Chojja' Missing in Action Award Which 'name' failed to live up to his billing and left himself with something to prove?
Julyzerg. Not in a strong group, almost didn't made it out, and exited prompty soonafter.
Game of the Tournament Which individual game was the most exciting or entertaining of the tournament? Or which game showed the highest skill?
Many contenders this time round. Boxer's bunker rush, Boxer vs oov game4,reach vs oov game1, reach vs yellow game5. This OSL will be remembered as a classic.
The 'WTF!' Moment of the Tournament Award Which single moment rocked the tournament more than any other?
Boxer v Yellow. Beatened to death.
Player Most Likely to Win the Next Starleague To the player TeamLiquid.net believes will triumph next time out.
Boxer. Because oov might suffer from winner's curse, and also because I am boxer's fan :p

ok ack1027 please tell me how the HELL you expect a player as shitty as rA to take the most creative award away. he has no micro, no macro, and every game i have of him playing he gets completely, thoroughly, and totally RAPED.....so please, explain that to me sometime.(sorry so late, just read the posts)
