Tournament Roundup #5

Welcome to this week's tournament recap! The GSL is survival of the fittest in Korea. In the West, a number of quality and consistent tournaments continue on, providing us with a great spectacle and leaving one question unanswered: How would these Westerners do in Korea? Perhaps we'll find out soon. Until then, I'll help you get a quick preview right here.

Each week we will bring you a link-heavy thread summarising the results from the minor tournaments from the past week - linking replays [image loading], vods [image loading], Liquipedia articles [image loading] and threads [image loading] where possible. This should be the only stop necessary to get a glimpse at how the competitive scene is shaping up! Note that this post won't be covering the results from the major tournaments, those will be covered by separate news posts.

Take's Homestory Cup (9/11). DeMuslim came from the loser bracket to beat Brat_OK 3-1 in the Grand Final. DeMuslim started 0-1 down since he came from the loser bracket, so really he didn't drop a game. The game on Steppes is definitely worth checking out since DeMuslim was reduced to around 6 workers against Brat_OK's 30 - and he still won. Sick play, and a well deserved win for DeMuslim.
[image loading][image loading]

Fisher's Open (9/11). HuK takes the 3rd $100 tournament in this series over KawaiiRice and a field of 64.

GosuGamer's King of the Hill (9/11). HuK put more money in his pocket, winning a series over one of the best Terrans in the world and a young man increasingly seen as his chief rival: MorroW.
[image loading][image loading]

iCCup King of the Hill (9/11). Fnatic's TT1 and Fenix beat the world on Saturday, adding impressive victories to their resume. Fenix was able to take down both Phoenix and Cella from the Korean clan Werra in his streak. Full results in spoiler

Competo (9/13). Pokeroffkas won the tournament and prize (XILENCE power supply) on Monday with a clean 2-0 victory over Naugrim.
[image loading][image loading]

ESL Pro Series Germany (8/24-11/23) The Pro Series marches on, providing us with quite the unsung spectacle when big names clash. There was only one major upset this week - TL's very own Naruto taking down Socke 2-0. Full results in spoiler.

The TeamLiquid Tournament Tracker is there for your convenience, check it out.

A diverse and stable group of tournaments has provided us with a daily set of battles for us to feast on. I'm having a great time watching the tournaments from all over the world but cannot help but hope and feel that this is but a preview of a smaller StarCraft world, when Europeans and Americans are able to compete with Koreans on a daily basis. Until this, it's hard to complain about this - for the most part, we're spoiled for choice.

If you are a tournament organiser and want to know how you can cooperate with TeamLiquid to promote your tournament, get into this weekly report and any queries in general - please contact Plexa who is in charge of TL's SC2 content. TL is always happy to help out grass roots tournaments and those who genuinely care about the community - so please contact Plexa to see what we can work out for you!

Until next week!

Question: Why is the ESL Viking Cup not listed among the weekly tourneys? It's streamed here so it should be known.

Navigating the replays for the Go4SC2 #37 & #38 on ESL's site can be fairly difficult, so an alternative download resource can be found at SC2Replayed.

and the German IEM Qualifiers had Hasuobs qualify

hasuobs qualified cos he won the international last chance qualifier

the german iem qualifiers had socke and goody directly qualified and demuslim, cloud and naniwa made it to qualification round 1 and 2

you can see a complete overview of all qualified players and where they qualified from on the esl page:
