I think I will regret it....... (TL really needs to port the mafia subforum to Liquiddota :S)

What do LYLO and MYLO mean? Other than being active and not cheating/being an ass, what should I refrain from doing? I have read the basic guide and the advanced one and have played mafia/werewolf in real life but am not sure how TL works yet. Should I /obs for my first game? What does that even MEAN? EDIT: From what I read, most people only care about active players. I own a store which gets really slow starting around now and work at it 7 days a week. I will be able to make many posts a day.

Lylo = lynch or lose, IE town is forced to lynch a mafia/scum player or lose the game because the number of scum will equal town otherwise. Mylo = mislynch or lose. Same deal, except you can opt to no-lynch for a day because you have an extra townie running around. /obs = Join the hosts/graveyard and talk to them about the game in a quicktopic. Honestly, if this is your first game on TL, I'd highly suggest playing a newbie game first. Regular TL games, especially large games, are incredibly overwhelming for anyone that hasn't played forum mafia before. Newbie games are generally slower and have people helping you out along the way. Even if you don't want the help from your coaches, the slower pace will help you digest the game and get acquainted with the mechanics of the TL meta and forum mafia as a whole.

If it's truly that overwhelming for a new person to play a regular TL game I will wait for a newbie game to open up. I have read through a few threads and continue to do so; I think I have a basic idea of the flow of a game and would definitely benefit from /obs for learning. As long as you're willing to read some of the guides, I don't think it should be that bad to jump into a normal game. That being said, there is a newbie game open for signups (LIX) if you want to get your feet wet there.

If you have read games/guides and have an idea how the game works you can jump into normal games straight away as Hapa said. My first game i played was a themed ~25 player game and it was way more fun than the newbie games which i found out really slow and boring.

Yeah, I started with a normal game too - not really themed but crazy. Newbies are boring.
