You can say "you got lucky" but realistically the town played horrifically in a town favoured setup.
Good self-explanatory summary.

I think different people saw slightly different things. BC as town usually tries to think up a plan, which he didn't do at all this game. First substantive post has a sort of meh feeling to it basically saying what everyone always says day 1. Doesn't really take a bold leap into leading the town and just sits back while shooting down other people's plans. Not trying to improve them, but just smacks them down cold. Red flags. Anti-hyperbola bandwagon, which doesn't necessarily say much in itself except for the fact that he doesn't really do anything about it. He yells at the people for the bandwagon, and says the bandwagoners have tons of explaining to do, but doesn't push anything. The only thing he does is say, "hyperbola isn't that scummy, these people are more scummy!" and proceeds to list 3 people who voted for hyperbola and tells people to look through their posts. But he never picks a target, provides any substantial analysis, or tries to actively redirect the town's path. Its more like a "here guys look at this!" as if he doesn't want to point out specifics but wants trick people into seeing the scummy play themselves (Kinda like getting people to reach a set conclusion themselves by planting a seed of doubt/getting them to look at things a certain way. People tend to take more ownership of an idea/are willing to agree more readily/can be more easily misled to believe something false when they connect the dots themselves instead of being told "heres specifics on why player X is mafia/suspicious"). Then he disappears. General apathy. He takes more of a passive role on day 1 and doesn't try to lead the town. It gives off the feeling that he doesn't really care about the day 1 lynch, but just wants to create a semblance of being pro-town by warning against the lynch of a townie. In essence though, its more like fanning the flames and stirring up some chaos while being apathetic to the results of the lynch. I feel like I'm forgetting something but can't remember off the top of my head right now.

have you been reading my scum hunting notes? That sounds like a lot of research ^_^ Didn't expect BC to plant seeds of doubt and run away though. I thought he'd be more of the type to stick around, debate and as long as the town lynches an innocent come up with a new plan as scum. Also not sure if not thinking of a plan is a red sign for BC. Sometimes you just don't feel like doing too much early in the game and letting things play out. I'll reread the first few days to see how the hyperbola wagon went, but the fact that he points out the suspects on an innocents wagon and then leaves the scum hunting to everyone else is a really good catch.

Hmm? You had the same reasonings I posted? It wasn't that much research BC didn't post that much day 1 (unlike some people here...) Eh regardless if you think he'd be one to stick around, pointing out things and running away is never a good sign, even if it isn't out of character behavior. Yeah I wasn't the one who was really sold on the BC not posting a plan thing, but I know at the time I did think BC's first post was really odd. Not necessarily a red sign, but it did raise questions and prompted me to look further.
