I can't speak for this situation but in Korea, being the youngest can be a big deal; as the youngest, you have certain (somewhat undesirable) duties expected of you, and you are much more likely to be the target of hazing, bullying and other abusive rituals. Obviously that's not necessarily what happened here, but the point is that being the youngest in a particular group in Korea can carry some baggage at times.
