I don't see analogy between Varus and Kog but Kupon3ss mentioned that both have % damage. Shredding HP stacking champs is nice I guess. But still... Varus @_@

Varus is great when played right. He's actually very hard to shut down during early game (this particular game was just special........), and his lategame is quite amazing in an AoE comp. Great potential for pickoffs / surprise initiates through his ulti too - most people vastly underestimate its range. Pretty sure the only reason we haven't seen any impressive Varus plays so far is because people aren't used to playing him.

Name any champion where you miss your ult 80% of the time, or it effectively does nothing, and it will look bad.

Also they both lack escape mechanisms besides an AOE slow. Honestly I think Varus is a lot like Ashe...who no one plays, for those same reasons.

And his HP shred is so unreliable because you need to hit abilities, but you need to charge it, and you want to use E early so you don't die.

I'm just saying people need to use him properly, not as this ADC that fits every team comp. He has a problem: He needs a protect comp, but his DPS isn't strong enough for a Kog-Style protect comp, so it needs to be a poke/disengage comp.

What do you mean you need to hit abilites?If you can't hit your e/q you really shouldn't be playing any champs with skillshots lol.....

Actually varus is good BECAUSE he fits in every team comp.The only ad that should beat you in lane is cait (pre 6) and your ultimate is just an amazing initiate/disengage.Also if you get an easier lane and can afford to max q instead of e his mid game poke is REALLY good.Considering how popular champs with no flashes are(volibear/nasus/renek) your ulti+e just allow you to kite very easily.

Assuming you asking when you can max q in 2v1 it's better anyway.In some situations the extra slow on e might be better still so it's arguable.

You are just underestimating the cc his ulti brings and overestimating the damage of most adc.The magic damage actually does quite a bit of damage.A lot of times you get shit like nasus/renek/shen/voli etc with infinity hp and they just stack armor so it does decent dmg.Obviously kog outdamages him but kog isn't as good in lane and he doesn't give you hard cc with 1075 range.Varus just has respectable damage and very good cc for mid game when most adc are really weak.

I remember several instances when a Varus ult won the game. Most recently SK vs EG had several good ones.

Varus is an amazing 2nd/3rd position AD carry because the %hp damage isn't strictly farm dependent. Also with slightly less farm he brings lots of utility to the table with CC that other ADs don't. In a mid dominated league like the EU LCS, he's a great option to fill behind the farm dominant players like Alex Ich, Froggen, etc.

He's not as strong of a S2 1st position dominate game and carry pick.

I feel like Varus is a situational pick, especially vs volibear with the self peel and healing reduction. He tends to fail when he tries to use ult to initiate and misses which happens a lot more than it should.
