The Janna pick wasn't a direct counter-measure for Madlife's Thresh. It was for the seperation so they wouldn't have to fight the combo of kennen/seju/ori head on.

Whenever Frost landed an Ori or Sejuani ult, Frost could never follow up due to Janna ult and Blaze just wrecked team fights through that counter initiation.

blaze left kennen open on purpose and did a few really good picks (whether knowingly or unknowingly) 1. pick double AP comp to discourage / deny zhonya's pickup on kennen 2. take janna+leesin for displacement to neuter the slicing maelstrom / AoE engagement not very important, but going up against double AP also lets ahri pick up abyssal which is absolutely amazing on ahri but not quite on orianna. having sejuani opposite is just icing on ahri's cake

So it's mostly a good pick against a heavy AOE ult based team. I'm support but I can really only confidently play Sona and still learning team comps for ranked, so any help would be greatly appreciated :D
