Teams:
+ Show Spoiler +
Choppa in Da Car + Show Spoiler +
As a brand new team to the scene they're looking to gain some status as the underdogs of this tournament. As individuals they all maintain high solo queue Elo's and have some experience playing in the competitive scene but not as a cohesive team. They will need to band together to show these tops teams what they're made of!

Counter Logic Gaming + Show Spoiler +
As one of the oldest teams in the competitive scene CLG has had their ups and their downs. We've seen CLG steamroll touranments with ease, like their recent victory in the NESL, but will they maintain that status of dominance in this upcoming tournament or will they fall from grace? Come see for yourself!

Team SoloMid + Show Spoiler +
Known for their aggressive playstyles, TSM is another oldy to the competitive scene being a team for almost as long as CLG has been. These guys have been really stepping their game up lately and have been practicing a lot since they've all moved into their gaming house. They've always been a top team in the NA scene and we're looking forward to seeing how they preform.

v8 eSports + Show Spoiler +
V8 is a newer team to the scene but they aren't new players by any means. These guys have qualified for many tournaments and have shown other teams that if they don't take them seriously, they will regret it.

Epik Gamer + Show Spoiler +
EG, being another old team on the scene, has qualified for a number of tournaments and has always put on a great show for us. They've always come to play and are always a feared team to play agaisnt. These guys have great chemistry and we can't wait to watch them duke it out against other teams.

Dignitas + Show Spoiler +
Dignitas is a team that exploded onto the scene a while ago, dominating everyone with their double assassin team comps and extemely high skilled play. Since then they've made a little change to their roster and haven't been the dominate force they used to be. Let's hope they get that fire back in their bellies for this next tournament as we'd love to see them kick some butt again.

RFLX Gaming + Show Spoiler +
RFLX is another new team on the scene, but they have slowly become more known as they compete vs top teams and give them a run for their money everytime! These guys will surely be a tough team to beat even though they haven't been together as a team for that long. Their individual skills are high, so let's hope for the best for this new found team!

A Picture of a Goose + Show Spoiler +
Goose has flown their way onto the scene with some meta-changing strategies and plays, getting them known for being innovative. They've clashed with other top teams, showing they can compete and chances are they have some tricks up their steeves for this tournament. We can't wait to find out what they have in store!

CLG playing pretty sloppy. Bot lane only now got a ward. :/

First tower lost is CLG Bot tower. Doublelift freezes lane.

Choppa facechecks brush by river. Hotshot lands his silence to prevent an Urgot swap before he can make line of sight, Jiji makes up for his mistakes with a beautiful Ult follow up, Sona ult piles on and Doublelift cleans up. Free Baron for CLG.

Udyr and Urgot face check a bush with Yorick just behind them. Cho'Gath silences them and then jiji uses Cass ult to stun all three of them. Right after Cass stun runs out Chauster throws Sona ult on them. CLG kills 3, loses none, and then takes baron.

So based only by this one game it looks like Choppa is a lot like v8 or Goose or some of the other up and coming NA teams. Their early game is just as solid as CLG, TSM, or EG but their team fighting and late game objective securing just isn't as on par as the top teams.

I can't decide if it's incredibly professional or incredibly unprofessional to not comment on how disconnects are the largest reason for a game being a loss - on one hand, Riot hates when it's talked about because the features aren't in place yet, but on the other.. disconnects really do lose games :/

Not all the teams (Choppa, V8) have tournament client accounts. This had nothing to do with CLG.

I think they should implement the pause function into custom games. I mean they implemented replays for tournament organizers....the least they could do is also give them a pause function.

That's actually a huge black mark against Riot, then - they not only know about the tournament, but they had a big news post in the client talking all about it. There's no excuse for the teams involved to not be able to play somewhere where the pause feature is enabled, especially when they're playing in a $5,000 tournament. I don't think that any Riot-advertised tournament should be played without pause now that it exists.

It isn't just Riot's job to give teams tournament client access. It's also Curse's responsibility to ensure that all teams have access to tournament client if they're going to use the tourney client.

http://www.lolpro.com/tournaments/176-curse-presents-the-lol-pro-invitational-tournament/rules

Curse's rules for the tournament seem to indicate that D/Cs will basically just be ignored after the first two minutes and that play will continue as normal. Which could mean that the rest of the games will all be on the NA client instead of the tournament client.

Frost Janna obv. 4th member of team frost, Moonie real sloppy.

Also, they're doing ARAMs, waiting for v8 to finish their solo Q game. I'm already annoyed by Colby, he's such a horrible caster. His voice is barely bearable, he always has a runny nose, he awkwardly laughs after half of his sentences because apparently they're supposed to be any funny, repeats his co-casters or argues with them without actually contributing anything to a discussion... meh.

I don't know. Is it just me or is he extremely annoying?

Just realized I sound like a spoiled prick. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the effort and the fact he is trying to do something for the community, I personally just feel he is pretty bad at what he does.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of him either :\ he's the equivalent of HuskyStarcraft in the LoL scene. Got famous on youtube and then every tournament thought it would be a good idea to have him cast

Supaa frost squad victory

CLG's been running that in scrims recently, so I was excited to see it in action with something on the line. Will be interested if they run it against teams they respect more, though Saint did seem to really like Sejuani after he figured out her W has absurd scaling.

P&B in consecutive order.

Bans:

EG: Ryze, Morgana, Sona
v8: Rammus, Kennen, Anivia

Picks:

EG: Corki, Soraka, Amumu, GP, ORIFUCKINGANNA SALCE!
v8: Shyvana, Leona, Sivir, Udyr, Ahri

Colby proving to be as annoying as usual, making fun of his co-caster (Elementz) who, unlike him, is actually an accomplished person within the League scene.

Oh, and that piece of wisdom:
Ele: ''I also call Salce rushing Chalice.''
Colby: ''Yeah, and I wonder wether he's also rushing some MR.''

What did he build on her?

Philo + HoG + Merc's > Shurelya's + Aegis and was building Frozen Heart at the end

Pretty standard Sejuani build

That's interesting. I'm sure Curse doesn't want players streaming the games since they want all the viewers.

v8 invading early and stealing blue, getting first blood and a kill bottom and pretty much snowballing from there. Dan too aggressive too early, I really don't get his obsession with Amumu. (and GP/10 Quints on him, lol.) I think he's way too prone to early invades and v8 had such a strong lvl 1. Udyr stun, Ahri taunt, Leona... I don't know, why pick Mummy when they already have Shyvana, Sivir, Leona locked in?

Edit: he also builds Philo HoG into WotA. What the actual fuck.
Edit 2: INTO A FUCKING ABYSSAL. DAN'S A MADMAN.

Yeah, was watching TreeEskimo's stream - V8 had a lot of offensive summoners (3 Ignites and either Exhaust or Heal) while EG had stuff like CV/TP/Cleanse, which let them invade blue with impunity (after warding the entrance to their own so it wasn't a blue trade); Dan kept falling further and further behind. He once came up top vaguely thinking about ganking TreeEskimo's Udyr, who was SEVEN levels above him and had TriForce. He looked even sadder than Amumu usually does :/

Speaking of talent, how did you guiys like Salce's Orianna? I think he played the game pretty well. I would have loved to see a Chalice against Ahri, but I guess he decided not to get it because of her true damage. I think that was a mistake because if I'm not completely mistaken, TakashiX took a page out of Froggen & co's books and maxed W. Anyways, there was this fight where he chased Sivir and Colby and Elementz where going on about how he should have used his W to speed up. He had a blue buff, but I think in that situation he wasn't aware Sivir was already so far away and counted on catching her either in the tribrush with a QW or after she was heading south towards her tower. In either situation, I think his W would have been on cooldown if he had used it to speed up. He was simply misjudging Sivir's advantage in distance and thus misplayed the situation.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is: I think he played the game pretty well and Salce's mad good and should get more appreciation.

I just can't believe they'd let Dan rush fucking WotA on Amumu - if you want to go for oddball strats, rush RoA or something to deal with the lack of blue, not go straight AP -_-. Amumu can do some variant Sapphire+2 routes if he knows he can't contest his first blue, so IDK why Dan didn't think of something like that ahead of time.

Then again, Dan's actually kind of a terrible jungler who doesn't really know what to build on any of the current common ones - I saw him do Thornmail-first Rammus recently.

It can work in lane where building weird shit can be counteracted by working it well, getting lots of gold, and using your skill to outplay people.

It DOES NOT work in jungle because you already have a lower income and need to maximize the efficiency of your gold expenditure. Its why cloth 5 is a bad buy now, and why you need to plan out your build as you go.

I would normally agree, but Dan does some things that are so far removed from the combined understanding of every high level jungler, and invariably those ideas tend to not only not work, but also cause him to end the game as dead weight on his team. I wouldn't ever judge someone who did something weird and did okay with it, but a pattern of shit like Red Pot Nocturne and WotA Amumu really makes me question if Dan does any sort of proper math or testing with his builds before sending them out into the wild.

Variant builds are awesome - I love trying out unorthodox things, and if they work good I might use them in an actual game, but I can't even imagine what was going through Dan's head when he decided what he needed was 20% spellvamp.

And besides the fact his Ori is a bliss to watch, the kid's just so laid back. Dyrus once put it this way: ''Oh, I think he's just that High School boy who goes out and fucks Volleyball Girls or something.''

Read that in a Dyrus voice. Seriously.

Nice rockets by Westrice, picking up the double kill at their turret.

Ooooooh Salce shields Malphite, who ults into 3 of v8 behind their turret, Salce presses RW and goes apeshit crazy.

In other news, EG building double Locket.

Awwww and v8 going for the base race when EG did Baron, EG dgaf, finish Baron and run to v8s base and finish.

LOLOLOL. EG wins the base race by like the thinnest of margins. They were slower getting to the nexus but their damage was just higher.

P&B in consecutive order.

Bans:

EG: Shyvana, Ryze, Leona
v8: Rammus, Kennen, Vlad

Picks:

EG: Corki, Sona, Malphite, ORISALCEFUCKINGANNA, Rumble.
v8: Sona, Udyr, Trist, Nocturne, Ahri

I was hoping for Dyrus to pick Rumble. I think he does quite well on him and he's good against Udyr.

Very true, I really grew fond of especially Jatt during the Kings of Europe tournament and Deman has stepped up quite a bit compared to his earlier performances. I'm still not his biggest fan, but I don't mind him next to Jatt because they harmonized relatively well.
Really really true. Deman has stepped up quite a bit

I think it's mainly that the casters are bad. Mumu gets his first blue taken and is a sad mummy, even though he CAN start stuff like Sapphire 2 pots, you ideally don't want to.

And Malphite + Orianna are just like "nope." and crush Ahri as she checks blue. Dragon goes to CLG as Dyrus comes in from behind and grabs another kill.

Well, most devastating after amumu, annie, oriana, gangplank, rumble, sej, and about 15 others.

Ahaha nocturne's ult isn't even the most devastating in this game. It's an ultimate level gap closer and nothing more, and it's very easy for most carries to get out of the tether and burst him down. It's really good against disorganized teams thanks to the blinding but it's pretty crap otherwise.

Salce makes me want to get good at ori again. Two out of three games he was pretty well just camped and the focus was to avoid having him fed, and he still sooooo goood.

I so bad at Ori, she feels so weak to me. Maybe I need to run different runes or something.

I feel like Graves' blind effect is way stronger than Nocturne's, because it fucks with targeting and sight to a far higher level than Nocturne's can. IMO they should add a reduced vision (250-300 range) component to Teemo's blinding dart, too!

Really good team fights over objectives so far!

TSM and Goose trading 2 for 2 over dragon, with TSM taking the dragon afterwards.

26min: Goose [31k] 7 - 9 [35k] TSM

Hmm wasn't Xpecial saying that Ahri wasn't that great in team games on Sotl? Seems like scrimming with EU may have changed their mind.
Go go Alliance.

Man, Atlanta is such a boss... Plays a sick trist... also plays a sick shaco. Now he's playing Cass, he's such a solid player.

Is it annoying anyone else the way Elementz says maokai? Cause I'm REALLY getting sick of it.

Wow maokai really far behind after two failed ganks where he died both times. One bot giving blue buff to Graves and it was FB then a fail gank bot when he took too much damage from tower and GP ult.

Been at work but are they really not even on the semi-finals yet? They're really far behind. Oh, unless the OP was suppose to say PST and not EST?

And TSM with their huge lead forces two fights at Baron. One where they go 2-1 then back off then another one later where Regi is able to stall them when Goose had no vision of Baron long enough for the rest of TSM to get Baron. After getting Baron they chase down Goose and kill a few push to take one inhib then Goose surrenders.

13 minutes in. TSM is pulling ~2k gold ahead because of early agressive jungle shyv/sion play. But I feel like CLG has the better teamfighting/lategame.

And TSM still trying to play zergy early game comps. Its just pathetic.

BAYLIFE!! SNOWBALLS OP YO!

I dunno why they think every early advantage means they auto win. It silly, they pick team with mediocre late game power curve then didn't push hard early for victory.

Gold relatively even, but Cait poop on MF late game, and Sion drop off too. They have no klate game deeps.

CLG reminds me of an allstar team, I think they have the strongest lane phases in the game. Really really strong individual players, but they're overall teamwork is meh, still enough to beat tsm.

My guess on the wriggles on DLift was that he had the money for a wriggles but not a BT. Figuring that his next back he would probably be able to sell and buy the BT- why not just get wriggles for the armor and bit of extra ad.

Hmm good point, He probably also felt that that last back was gunna be the last back of the game, considering how the game was going.

Naw. Salce>jiji, Dyrus>HSGG, Chaox/Xpecial>Chau/dlift. Only area where CLG is stronger than everyone else is in Jungle.

Problem with TSM is that they just REALLY arent that smart and dont understand how the game works. Kind of odd to say, but given the way they keep gimping themselves, it has to be said.

Too much reliance on Regi. And TOO is constantly asked to camp lanes for them to help lanes win.

This sounds right. My guess is that he sensed the next fight was going to decide the game, so he'd rather have a Wriggles than sit on a vamp sceptor.

IMO the best thing that TSM could do would be to have scrims where TOO is not allowed to gank or buy wards. He needs to learn how to farm.

CLG is like the best team of using AOE comps, while TSM is known of taking advantage of early game and snow ball into late game. TSM is like auto-lost team honestly if they cant win the early game.

on other hand, I've seen tons of comebacks from CLG, their communication is meh i do agree, but they all have great knowledge of positioning in the team fight.

CLG had the perfect team comp to back up shen splitpush. This is why Shen is permaban.

TSM played the super early aggression composition, but CLG did what they had to to survive and won with a solid strategy and excellent execution. TSM didn't respond to shen split push, danced around too much, and engaged bad fights whenever Shen got close to thier towers.

All that said, if TSM is able to get that baron that Saint and Hotshot stopped, this was a different last 20 minutes.

I don't understand how OddOne keeps picking these junglers that don't suit him like Lee Sin and Shyv and why he doesn't embrace his role in life and diversify the way he plays well with Sejuani and Nautilus.

I think it's his own solo queue bias. If he just looked at snoopeh he'd realize his playstyle and the way his team needs him to play means he should be playing stuff like allistar or maokai.

He's too hung up on the whole snowball meta concept and thinks that playing an earlygame bully like mf to snowball is the way to go.

I think it's his own solo queue bias. If he just looked at snoopeh he'd realize his playstyle and the way his team needs him to play means he should be playing stuff like allistar or maokai.

Yar- Snoopeh plays that style WAY better than TOO does. Hell, even SV plays that style better than TOO now.

TOO just kind of seems lost to me- he forgot what made him who he is.

Probably not, but no one can stopped farmed dragonbitch either.

well, oddone sucks then, mid game shyvana got outplayed by shen with even CS + 4 dragon advantage.

4-0 and first dragon for CLG. When TSM doesn't play their early game comps they get crushed early anyway lol.

SV already with Oracles.

Points of note:
  • SaintV starts his own Wraiths, then jacks TSM Blue. TSM go take CLG Blue a few minutes in after pushing in mid+bot lane. Ahri forced to burn Flash though.
  • SaintV comes around the back. Flash-Stun-VEIGARAHAHAHAHA = First Blood.
  • TMS pushes bot lane in hard constantly. CS lead.
  • Udyr comes top and Kennen has to burn Flash. 2 minutes later, he comes back and Kennen dies.
  • TSM try to take CLG's second Blue. Ashe Arrow + VEIGARSTUNAHAHAHAHA = TSM forced to split. Sona picked off, and they take out MF as well as TSM runs. TSM forced to base, CLG take no damage, then take Dragon and their blue at their leisure.
  • Regi tries to jack Blue, fails.

  • Oracles totally taking map control.
  • Regi goes top, zones Irelia. Take top tower.
  • CLG take Dragon.
  • MF Crit forces Double away from tower. 4 man TSM take bot tower.
  • SaintV+Irelia take top tower in response.
  • TSM push bot inner tower but can't push against Janna + Ashe. Irelia+Udyr push top inner in response. Regi burns ignite for no reason.

  • Udyr a full Wits End up on Lee Sin. Janna up a Kindlegem + stack of wards as Sona forced to buy Oracles.
  • MF+Sona pushing bot lane hard with no wards. CLG 5 man punish them. VEIGAR AHAHAHAH BOOM.
  • MF has BT+almost Zeal to Ashe's IE+Vamp.
  • TSM lost mid tower.

  • Ashe misses Ult but it makes MF waste Ult too.
  • CLG engage on TSM. Sona with a good counter-initiate. TSM kill SaintV and his Oracles but lose MF and Kennen. MF forced to recharge BT.
  • Irelia now getting fed. Aegis+Wits+Mallet.
  • Ashe now equal or better cs than MF from all these fights.

For clarification, ashe ult wasn't a complete miss. It hit MF(i think), which prompted MF to waste ult as well as all of CLG were coming through that brush.

  • Lee Sin with Hog+Ruby+Wriggles+Mercs. Udyr with Randuin+Mercs+Wits+Ruby+Wards. This isn't even close.
  • Ahri with Sorcs, 3xDoran, WotA, Negatron. Veigar with RoA, DFG, Sorcs, Doran, Amp Tome.
  • Kennen has Wriggles, 2xDoran, Mercs, Phage. Irelia is Raid Boss.
  • Janna has Shurelia over Sona's incomplete items.
  • CLG force Baron as HSGG split pushes bot and takes inner tower.
  • CLG ARROW pick off Sona Oracles. They get super low eating lots of AoE. But CLG disengage successfully, TSM can't pick off the super low carries.
  • HSGG taking bot inhib turret while all this happens...
  • TSM zerg Baron. Double facechecks and dies. HSGG TPs in and forces them off.
  • 10k gold difference. Ow.

i don't think ad kennen is necessarily a bad pick top against a melee bruiser, but frozen mallet after wriggles and 2x dblades? pretty sure his W is what makes AD kennen work and 30+ minutes in rainman has exactly +0% attack speed.

edit: and then the offensive flash ult with 0 ap for the lolz

  • TSM desperate Baron. CLG engage and TSM loses Regi for Veigar and Ashe.
  • Despite CLG losing both carries, Irelia and Udyr so Raid Boss Mode TSM forced to run away.
  • Sona with Oracles (I think?) picked off again.

It was both doublelift and jiji. They had to force an exchange so TSM would not baron. Their tanks were still too far away, but that arrow was way too early.

  • CLG go for Baron. TSM try to stop them. After some dancing, Udyr get split moving top while the rest of CLG moves south.
  • TSM engage on them. Kennen FLASH-ULT but does nothing because he's AD and Ashe has QSS.
  • Irelia so raid boss. Eats lots of damage. Doesn't die.
  • CLG loses no one and kill 4 of TSM. Takes Baron.
  • CLG goes heal up. 14k gold up. Steamrolling down mid now.

  • Irelia split push bot while rest of CLG is top lane. Ahri forced to sit bot as tower is down and inhib is exposed.
  • TSM try to be sneaky and Shurelia engage on CLG from the side. Veigar laughs in their face, throws down AoE Stun and instantly nukes Chaox into Oblivion.
  • Kennen with perfect Ult and thanks to 0 AP does jack shit and dies.
  • Irelia TPs in so Regi goes to join his team and dies.
  • Ace.
  • TSM quit the game as CLG zerg the nexus.

VEIGAR LAUGHS AT YOUR CRUSHED BASE AHAHAHAHAHAH~! :3

Usually after stomps, either one team looks really good or the other team looks really bad.

In that case, TSM just looked really bad. Dunno what happened to them that series.

Man, that was disgusting. Ashe missed every arrow but it didn't matter since TSM had only Chaox doing damage. I guess Ahri was OK for damage as well but the other two people (besides Xpecial) had the following items:

RainMan: Dblade x 2, Frozen Mallet, Wriggle's
TOO: Wriggle's. He had no other damage item.

Chaox kept missing ults too so what do you expect? No way to deal damage, Meanwhile all of CLG either absorbed damage or dealt a shitton of damage.

Mf needs harder initiate for her ult to do anything and her sightly better than average if used properly ult is all she has late game. While most of chaox early ults attempts were bad, to be fair he would just get interrupted if he waited longer.

TSM really disappointing this set.

Honestly, I gave TSM a lot of credit before for having a good sense of their roles, especially when they were doing well and TOO was playing Maokai every game.

But it looks like they're doing exactly what I said CLG did too much of before. Pick 4-carry team-comp. Can't get everyone fed (even when they're up 4 Dragons, plus towers), so someone (in this case TheOddOne) is underfarmed and therefore useless.

Some of Chaox's ults were instrumental in doing damage to CLG. Such as that time CLG faked Baron, and then used Ashe Arrow to turn on Sona with Oracles. They all sat in MF Ult and took lots of damage. TSM just couldn't follow up with any kills. The time they got aced and lost Baron, Chaox ult-ed prematurely and that meant he didn't have any AoE for the following fight.

That said, Chaox was really the only damage they had at that point. Kennen was a CC-bot with no other presence, Lee Sin couldn't really tank much and Ahri couldn't burst someone (although True Damage always relevant).

Dyrus will be playing AD, Westrice will be playing Shen top, and WW jungle by Dan Dinh.

Not really seen Dyrus AD but I'm sure he'll be OK with two heals, plus Sona.

Both teams take each others reds, though Shyv and Sona exchange Exhausts before Shyv barely escapes with Epik's.

Big teamfight at second red; Dig wins 3-0 with healbait on dragon bitch and takes out Epik's bot lane and jungle; gets free dragon after.

After 8 minutes of nothing happening, Dignitas 3-man-invade EPIK's red buff. WW sees them in time and backs off, decides to go in back again because Graves and Sona are about to arrive. Unfortunately for EG, Cassiopeia is already there and Dignitas pick up 3 kills and a red buff.

12 minutes in, Shyvanna helps Leona and Corki dive Graves and Sona bottom, resulting in two kills for Dignitas. Graves loses 2 waves of experience and farm.

I honestly think they reason EG is so inconsistent is that their roles are always changing......I mean they have Dyrus on AD carry this game. How much practice can he possibly have on AD? Not to mention the chemistry between him and his support.

Graves dies bottom, casters miss it. Shyvana and Cass steal blue buff uncontested, which puts Salce's Ziggs in an awkward position against Cass. Voyboydyr dies top to a gank from WW, Dignitas picks up dragon.

A 5 man gank from EG gets two kills and the bottom turret, they lose mid and top turrets in the process.

Meanwhile, I realize it's 3am and head towards my bed. Turns out GF sat in the brush all night waiting for me to come by, I get instagibbed. GG.

Ya DD really needs to improve as a jungle. You really cant afford to do weird shit as a jungler just cuz their isnt enough gold to skimp on actual effective items.

Letting your team get aced (again) and losing baron right after you finally equalize is pretty big in the scale of derps.

Westrice's top was pretty bad, but Dan took an even game that was slightly tilting towards Epik and handed Dig and ace + Baron. Pretty much dropped the game.

He took a gamble on how far the enemy team was from the Dragon (they had no vision in the enemy jungle, and it was still possible that some of Dignitas' team was on their way to lanes rather than coming straight to Dragon).

You might disagree whether that gamble was necessary (and I'll concede that Dan tends to feel such risks are necessary sooner than they actually are), but given how far behind they were (2 towers, a ton of kills, all 3 carries comparatively underfarmed), he might have felt it was necessary to take that gamble to give them a shot at winning the game.

Oh come on, that game wasn't even close to even before the Baron. EG had one good teamfight, but being down 2 towers and several kills and being disadvantaged in all 3 lanes is not "even". The global gold gap was already 5k+ and growing.

Maybe Observer mode makes things look a bit more clinical than playing the game itself so you can see that the global gold difference isn't that bad, because that certainly is an argument, but blind ulting a Maokai when your team's in bad shape and you don't see the rest of his team is a reckless gamble at best and just fucking stupid at worst.

Maybe it is because I am used to watching SC tournaments, but most LoL tournaments seem so unprofessional.

It feels like they didn't prep at all and just said "screw it, we have a tournament."

Would it really be that hard for curse to get an overlay that isn't notepad, or not have everyone watching them herpderp about getting in game for an hour between every game?

-.-

When you're in bad shape is EXACTLY when you take a gamble to try and put yourself back in the game. It's why in SC mid-level pros cheese players that are significantly better than them, or why you go for an all-in when you're on the back foot.

It's easy for us to judge his error when we have vision of both sides, and in hindsight the gamble looks stupid, but how can you say that gamble wasn't necessary? Again, all 3 lanes were losing, they had zero map control, and were down 2 towers.

If Voyboy had gone to top instead of coming to Dragon that Dignitas obviously wouldn't get to in time and it turned into a 4-for-1 trade, everyone would be saying that play turned the game around entirely.

Hey now, Wriggle's Stark's Aegis isn't "weird shit" to Dan--that's been his go-to Warwick build for like 2 years now lol.

Doesn't make it good.

I was being facetious. Sorry that wasn't clear.

It didn't look good when it was happening either. Like if that was your WW in a game, and you were blind of the global vision and saw him pulling that move off, would you think that was a good play as it was happening?

I see where you're saying that it's a coin flip move because Voyboy COULD HAVE gone top, but when you just finished dragon after a contested fight and they've all came up around the same time, is it a smart risk to try to pick Maokai? You don't think it's really likely they could have came as 5 and tried to come to see if Dragon was still there/pick a team coming out of the pit?

I think that's being overly unfair to Dan. I'd say other than derping out once, he played better than most of his teammates.

Letting your team get aced (again) and losing baron right after you finally equalize is pretty big in the scale of derps.

Westrice's top was pretty bad, but Dan took an even game that was slightly tilting towards Epik and handed Dig and ace + Baron. Pretty much dropped the game.

Oh come on, that game wasn't even close to even before the Baron. EG had one good teamfight, but being down 2 towers and several kills and being disadvantaged in all 3 lanes is not "even". The global gold gap was already 5k+ and growing.

I agree with you to some extent, but one of us is misremembering (or we're referring to different situations) because I recall that, when dan ulted, EG was behind < 1k gold.

Checked the VOD. You're right.

In which case, yeah, that was definitely a pointless gamble to make.

I feel that letting CLG pick up both Ryze and Vayne for jiji and Doublelift respectively is going to be a very bad decision.

They're missing plays and comments on important things. Like Karthus ulting in middle but not staying to see Janna interrupt Karthus ult or noticing the ult didn't go off to kill HSGG bottom.

Also, on this push, CLG wards up in Dignitas' base so Hotshot can teleport in and they described this as random warding.

Honestly, I think it might be a toss up between Ele and Dlift as to who is dumber. I guess it was an upgrade for clg after all. Dlift might be semi-brain dead but at least he can play. Ele is just brain dead.

Eh, doublelift micro was never his problem. His problem is he has no game sense and doesn't listen to saint 100%. Which gives him full derp status at times. :/

He's an improvement from elementz, but it's a shame to see Chauster, one of the best solo laners, needing to support.

I think CLG's improvement though was more that jiji no longer is in a slump like he was back when they benched Elementz, and hotshot listening more. Ever since his grandparents watched his stream and he got with Becca he's stopped being so ragey and childish and has actually improved his team play overall, which is awesome to see from such a good mechanic top laner.

I think it's pretty impressive that CLG does so well without Chauster in solo lane though. Imagine if they had a guaranteed "this guy will do well in lane every single game." Shit would be scary as hell.

But yeah, it's cool to see Hotshot and jiji playing a lot better. Doublelift makes a lot less mistakes in the past three weeks or so which is also really exciting for me. I just hope jiji can go back to being a god again, that would make me the happiest person ever.

This game is over unless dignitas goes full retard. 2/3 lanes losing and the one where hotshot is beating ryze in cs doesn't matter because ryze is randomly strong enough to 1 vs 2 gp and kennen, wtf?

lol typed that before that dragon fight... ouch.

EDIT: I was also noticing how little vision the teams have, isn't that strange? really low ward level throughout this game.

Very good job on dignitas' part stringing CLG out and making them use their ults piecemeal instead of all at once.

Dignitas played that perfectly although Saint should have ulted during the chase.

I don't think he has :X The Pro's really know how to abuse him.. so many people have this misconception that ryze is super strong in the early game when he really isn't. If you can just CS fairly well and make it to the mid game without dying, Ryze is a god. (see scarra 1v2ing kennen and gp with just cata/tear)

And WTF are they talking about 1 little mistake. CLG has been throwing this entire game since the first fail lane swap. HS derping baron was the icing on the cake.

Scumbag CLG: Picks a team comp that is meant to secure baron. Gets it stolen.

New meme for CLG fans. lol

Man, CLG played so solid against TSM earlier, and now they're getting wrecked. What happened in between, haha?

And Chauster demonstrates why Taric isn't a viable lategame choice - when multiple people are threats, he's got jack shit.

Dignitas is also playing really well. But yeah, combine Dig playing well with CLG playing shitty and it's getting pretty ridiculous. Gonna be almost impossible for CLG to win now after they have an almost perfect team fight but still lose 4 for 2.

I feel the game was in a reasonable spot to be won by clg. Then the baron steal sent it into freefall and lost them everything. Like everything else was so minor in comparison.

Not really. CLG failing so hard early on made that situation what it was. They had to claw their way back into the game just to GET to that point. Imagine if they had just been normal from the start- they probably would have been even/leading dig instead of a perpetual 2k gold back. It was the nail, but you cant put the WHOLE game on that. HS just going top overall would have made a much bigger difference to this game that Cho not being asleep at baron.

And Ez isnt completely worthless. He just a not as good version of corki- something even Qtpie would agree with given the fact he picks corki over ez every single game.

It would have been a much different story if CLG wasnt down 8k in that blue fight- Any ad carry is gonna look that good.

I think Hotshot tried to feast Ez that fight too but mis-clicked and feasted Janna. At least, I hope that's what happened because Noc jumped on Ez but they insta-gibbed Janna. Would be really silly to blow two ults on the enemy teams support at the start of a team fight.

Qtpie Locust bot lane making a serious case for best in NA. Id actually lean on them over Chaox/xpecial just cuz Chaox' perpetual boner for MF and the shitty EU 3 dorans wriggles build has made that lane horrid for TSM recently.

That has to be the only thing I don't trust SV with. Aside from Smite he is the best jungler in the world, but I have seen him miss that Smite so many times.

you can talk about how SV and HSGG messed up all you want; but turning into a dragon, flying over a wall, and smiting baron in mid-air is one of the most baller moves in the game.

Eh, I dunno... It is baller, but imo I don't think it was that great because at the end of the day it was a high risk play that realistically will only work if your opponent fucks up.

And actually, the funniest part is I recall CLG scrimming this exact same teamcomp like a week ago and they had baron stolen via Ziggs Ult because SV and HSGG screwed up the maths on Smite+Feast.

Herp derp, many monies lost for something that is just silly.

i guess you wouldn't understand if you haven't done it yourself, but there is something special about the shyvana baron steal. the feeling you get as you fluidly smite baron soaring gracefully through the air to single-handedly turn a game around is unmatched imo.

Pft, noct steals are where its at. Halfway across the map and still ruining your day!

I want to point something out, smite vs smite, neither jungle has an advantage. Both smites do the exact same amount. Sure, the team doing baron has more damage coming in (and therefore if there is a missed smite they usually get it) and in this case Cho should have gotten it, but smite vs smite either jungle can come out on top.

Also, the same thing happened to CLG in a scrim the other day. They smite/feast at 1700 and hotshot mis timed feast that time, missed this game so I'm not sure if that's the case here.

Gank on top completely missed

AND THERE WAS EVEN A PING zzzz

Ryze has an early blue thanks to Mundo giving blue to who he pleases. Apparently the top gank forced a back outta Irelia.

Nah, Curse was just playing like they are ahead while they actually quite behind for the last 20 mins. I mean veigar is too squishy to be relied on. He can instancely kill one people on Dig, so what? Corky or Irealia or Morgana will just bust them down, and Mundo do massive damage in late game too.
On the other hand, Maokai is not that good late game since hes AP based tank, in late game AD based tank is much more useful, just look at Irelia.

That nexus steal was a good move but you can actually do that with only one AD.
