[OGN] 3rd Place Match Preview

The match for third place in the Olympus OGN Champions Spring 2013 will be battled out between CJ Entus Frost and SKT T1 #2. CJ Entus Frost, who are not a finalist for the first time since the start of the OGN tournament, are without a doubt the Kings of OGN. In comparison we have a team that can be considered the Princes of OGN, SKT T1 #2. This is their first season in OGN but they have displayed such daring and dominant play that it seems they will test the old kings and challenge for the top spot for seasons to come.

Like one year ago only Blaze was able to stop their brother team in their march to the finals. For many people it was surprisingly how easily Blaze defeated Frost. Unfortunately for SKT Judgement Day, they went of the tournament in a similarly disappointing fashion. Their match against MVP Ozone looked like a disaster since they did not stand a chance against the underdog MVP Ozone. Both teams are extremely proud and do not want to leave the Spring Season with a repeat performance of total defeat. In addition, there is a 5000 Dollar difference between 3rd and 4th place and most importantly, the circuit points needed to qualify for Riot’s World Finals. Expect to see a heated and brutal fight between these two teams.

One crucial point for this match is that Frost has much more experience in handling and recovering from losses while Judgement Day has won every match until they met MVP Ozone. Now it will be a true test to see if they are a professional team or just some fancy solo queue players. It will be interesting to see how well Judgement Day can bounce back from a devastating loss against MVP Ozone or if Frost can prevail with their experience.

The biggest issue for CJ Entus Frost would be their Mid player Rapidstar against the star of Judgement Day, Faker. We saw last week how far behind Rapidstar was playing against Ambition and how it affected Frost’s gameplan and dynamic. Faker brings in a similar style with his famous ability to create plays on his own and apply pressure in every other lane on the map. It is paramount that Cloudtemplar helps Rapidstar to shut down Faker. Otherwise, Faker will snowball his lane and move freely around the map to get more advantages for Judgement Day. The silver lining for Frost is that both bengi and Cloudtemplar prefer tanky Junglers, which could help Frost to survive the early game until they can reach the strategic phase of the game and shine in the map movements and team fights.

Top lane should clearly be in Shy’s favor but a laneswap is recommended for Frost because their Bot pair is weaker than their SKT T1 #2 counterpart. In addition, Shy has shown that he can farm incredibly well under the turret, which should give him a big advantage over Impact. Both ADC have gotten a lot of flack for their most recent performance. Hermes was outplayed by a resurging Cpt. Jack, who stepped up his game for the semifinals, while Piglet had poor positioning and was often caught out in the games against MVP Ozone. Both should be eager to prove to their teammates and fans that they are not liabilities for their team.
