I tried to install .Net Framework manually and still have the same problem. It doesnt show as an active process either.

Windows 7, 64 Bit

Maybe I'm dumb and missing something obvious. But it worked for a friend w/o a problem.

Sounds like it is crashing right away though, which is strange. Are you using the English client or a foreign language one? Have you tried re-downloading the installer and running it again? There was a dependency on a Visual C++ redistributable that was added a little while ago that might be the cause (in which case downloading the new installer and running it should fix it).
