I'd like to ad to what Physician wrote, In certain areas the definition of murder is different. I know that murder rates in Japan are skewed because a murder suicide of family is only considered a suicide. I'm not so sure on other areas but this would change the results of the study.

Heh, so we're the biggest criminals. Not really surprising though, the amount of gangland crime here has gone up loads in the last 10-15 years or so. Its gotten really bad, with usually 3-4 murders a week. (Which is a lot considering guns are illegal, and we have a population of only 4mil)

Could I get an explanation of how this is useful?

I can't remember which class it was(probably psych intro) but we discussed this kind of stuff, basically saying that the more productive countries like you said sleep more(spain anyone?), same with France because in France it's mandatory that each employee gets six weeks paid vacation per year.

There's a saying which translates to "Sleep 5 hours and you fail, sleep 4 hours and you pass." or something like that I dunno, but I only get like 5-6 hours of sleep every night. US stats seem like they would be much lower as well.
A normal human being needs 7-8 hours of sleep each night, if you sleep 5 or 6 hours every night of every week you're either wrong or you're 80 years old since the older you get the less sleep you need. I suppose it's possible if you sleep longer in the weekends since a lack of sleep can be caught up to incredibly fast but good god I wouldn't want to live like that, how would you even study during the day with 5 hours of sleep every night, I'd just fall asleep in an instant.

New Zealand may have one of the highest crime rates because we report a lot of our crimes.

The Netherlands has high crime. Being n0 1 on biketheft is worse then being number two on rape? I like the logic of this list. I like this country apparently every type of crime has the same severity. If the numbers arent weighted these statistics suck monkey balls.

One time I had my bike stolen... it was just like being raped. Don't marginilize bike theft!

Koreans stole my bike about 5 months ago but I didn't report it... Assholes

My bike was raped by a gang of dutchmen
