Yeah, they did. But there's really only so much you can do. If someone wants to randomly kill someone, they're pretty much gonna do it, and there's not much you can do about it. I, for one, would much rather be able to live my life normally and freely and take that chance than be watched over all day every day by some group that decides whether or not I'm mentally ill, even in light of these events. So yeah, this is pretty much a coincedence, and it sucks, but there's not too much that can be done to prevent it.
