OP - if its people you dont see often, chatting seems to take up a lot of the time. otherwise, you can have contests, like cooking contests, or karaoke, or anything artsy. toothpicks + celery, or whatever.

Golden Rule of Parties Food + Music + Time sink. Instead of having alcohol as your time waster you need to think of something else you guys can do that's fun, relaxing, and anyone can do. Cards are okay, toss a ball around, shoot off fireworks, build a fire, play man hunt (or hide and seek), watch a movie. Make sure you don't stick to the plan too intently either, i'm sure your guests will find fun things to do to entertain themselves too.

I have been drinking the past 6 weekends, we pretended we had reasons for all of them (halloween, friends birthday, my birthday... actually i guess we only had reasons for half of them)for a party u NEED: - loud music(TECHNO!!!) - alcohol(seriously, this is basically a must) - some kind of game(video game, truth or dare, drinking game, pool[my faouvrite ], etc)- hot tub - women(preferably single...) - a place to pass out/sleep - a safe/isolated place/house to party(i.e. no cops will come or shit) - not needed imo cause i dont smoke but some people say weed - some kind of food(pizza to make, pop for mixing, etc) - designated driver if people are going home cant think of many more off the top of my head but yeahhhhhhhhhh sounds like your party is going to be lame

OP - if its people you dont see often, chatting seems to take up a lot of the time. otherwise, you can have contests, like cooking contests, or karaoke, or anything artsy. toothpicks + celery, or whatever. i dont need alcohol to have fun, and i don't think the people here who are noting the lack of alcohol are implying they can't either. but the things i do for fun without alcohol aren't things i do at a party: snowboard, starcraft, listen to classical music, world of warcraft, run, weight lift, board games, etc. The thing about alcohol and parties is that the alcohol makes nearly anything fun. let's take your arts and crafts for example: toothpicks & celery at a party = you don't know how to party. Toothpicks & celery when you're so shitfaced you can't tell which is which = fun. see? ------- on topic: i went to a few parties in highschool that didn't have drugs/alcohol. These parties were typically reflected upon as a success by most of the people who attended. We listened to popular music (linkin park, blink 182, sum41, offspring, etc.) and discussed all the latest gossip ("omg, did you HEAR that Randy called Megan FAT?"). So i guess that's my advice to you: play some generic music that everyone will pretty much agree with, talk about anything dramatic (and if there isn't something truly dramatic, use your imagination and go with that). I started to bring alcohol and drugs to parties to have fun. I ended up not being invited to as many, along with the people who decided to do with them me... Until a year later when everyone realized that booze = good.

Toothpicks & celery when you're so shitfaced you can't tell which is which = fun. see? that is exactly proving my point. without alcohol, a "regular" activity won't be "fun". some people enjoy those types of activities without alcohol. you're saying that there's only one way to party, but that's not true. as long as people are having fun, that's what matters the most, right? it's about creativity with activities. if you need the alcohol to "make anything fun", then the activity probably wasnt fun to begin with, then that's where the creativity kicks in. it all comes to down to the OP and his gang of friends and their interests. im not against alcohol. i just think that parties without alcohol require a little more effort to the average person.
