It's not about how serious they are. Yoshi's Island doesn't have a trick that loses you 15 min if you fail and is this hard to do. Diferent games.

Yeah if he didn't do the pallet trick he would have to spend 15 or so extra minutes...so as long as he doesn't take 15 minutes on the pallet trick, its saving a ton of time

In a marathon like this taking precautions is totally fine. These guys aren't really going for WR runs, they are looking to entertain.

Watching that guy play Yoshis island was some ridiculous shit, i didnt know why they were setting up a hand cam until i saw him going at it.

If it was about being "serious" trihex (and almost every other runner at every GDQ ever...) would have reset his run like 50 times! It's about putting on a good show and showing off all the different tricks, and hopefully putting together a respectable time while they're at it :D

Toren any idea how the delay will be handled? Need to figure out how to plan my sleep schedule between Deus Ex and Metal Gear Solid. :3

It's also easier to do precise tricks in a 2D platformer than a 3d FPS.

Trihex is amazing, but it's also a very flashy run. Several speedrunners like Cygfher, Dexter, etc. run extremelly hard games with very precise inputs, they just don't show as much "APM".
