it is not an unsourced claim, every year before the ad money was going to the organisator. If you want confirmation watch the ending of last years agdq at the end when they announce the total. The way it became public it rather looked like they tried to hide this fact but some random person accidently revealed it.
Most of the equipment this year was sponsored by Gamespot. They dont really need the ad-money this year to cover everything I guess
You really think I'm just some asshole trying to bring down agdq for laughs? The claim I responded to was even more unsourced than mine. Apparently it was based on something, but I had no way of knowing that and I addressed that ignorance in a far nicer why than you've been doing.
I like it, how the speedrunners are talking about, that some move/trick/glitch saves "halve a second" ... it's just crazy, that these numbers are important!
