Wasn't there an article about some Japanese facility claiming that they found a cure for HIV/AIDS?

Well anyways, seems like British folks are superior then they look eh?

that's pretty wild. but one thing i don't understand from the article: is he or isn't he willing to cooperate with researchers in finding a new cure? if it's the latter this man who was lucky enough to not die by aids should die by a bullet

This isn't so unbelievable.
There is no disease or virus that can destroy the entire population. There always will be survivors.

Crazy? Not at all. Some people are totally immune to AIDS.
http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/10/29/0417226&tid=191&tid=14

Unfortunately, no Native Africans (among other ethnicities) carry the gene responsible for this.

In fact, the levels of delta 32 found in Eyam were only matched in regions of Europe that had been affected by the plague and in America, which was, for the most part, settled by European plague survivors and their descendents.

Of course, there could be other genes that can stop HIV too. It would be interesting to see whether or not he carries the mutated delta 32 gene.

If his body has cured itself of AIDS I dont see why he would say no to more tests.

- because he's tired of them
- because he's afraid of them
- because there's a really small chance, they'd get any useful information out of them
- because he is evil
- because he is helping and the information is wrong

note: these are only a few possible reasons

Some people (very few) are immune to aids. An interesting tidbit my science teacher told us last week.
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Perhaps the man refuses a re-test because he is afraid that perhaps a retest would prove the 2nd test to be faulty.

Not to mention the fact that the doctors would clearly have conspired to (re?)infect him with the virus in order to ascertain whether or not he WAS initially infected/study his immune response in action.

some people say "why do you all care anyways? are you homosexual, do you share needles, or are you magic johnson? "there might be a cure!" if only you had an extra 30 years to live THEN your life would be good. yeah because NOW you know what to do with it. odds are more years really doesn't make a difference, it's just a skapegoat." i think they're nuts.
