Another thing that might've irked people about Fei Fei's set is that ASOT 550 wasn't the only group of DJ's playing...

so if she really wanted to do a heavy D&B set, she could've taken it somewhere else. The whole ASOT being a A State of Trance, and not "A State of (anything other than Trance)" is somewhat plausible, considering the expectation of the crowd that's there is to be able to enjoy the genre of music they want to listen and dance to.
