It has been tried, not cool, but rather cheap if you can manage to do it it seems.

My understanding is that the liver processes alcohol at a slow rate in the first place, and doesn't all blood mix and go through the heart at a relatively high speed, which means there shouldn't be a big difference except for maybe the much higher initial dose?
