I kind of want to try the engine block thing but I'm confident I'd find a way to set the car on fire and the last thing I need is to burn my temporary housing down in the near freezing temperatures here lol. I do wish I could just set up like, a generator and some camping cooking stuff but tbh I don't want to spend that money

You can open a can of about anything and put it ion it a couple minutes. Obviously also works with boiling water for ramen.

I’ve been subsisting on cold foods in the meantime, but now have access to an electric kettle, so maybe I can sneak that into my gym when I go for showers and then sneak out a bunch of hot water for breakfast and dinner.

I should also be afraid of maybe burning my car up if I were to use that because I am a very unwieldy person, especially in tighter spaces, Just to cover all the bases here, these types of stoves should only be used in places with high ventilation. The fire danger and exhaust gases danger makes them unsuited for in-car use.

But if you're in a parking lot, you can put it next to your car with the pot on top and sit comfortably inside until it boils. If you have a can and need to stir it, not so much, but usually the same places that sell the stove will have car camping gear like fold-out tables and chairs. They add to the price tho. Speaking from European experience, any general sports equipment shop sells stoves and gas cannisters. The hypermarket style supermarkets generally do too. That said, I hope your situation normalizes soon. Doesn't sound like fun to live out of your car. Especially in winter.

Its also not that bad living out of my car, by the far the worst part is a lack of consistent internet, most places with free wifi would require me to drive into the building itself to actually consistently connect to it. It is getting to be about freezing outside, but so far its nothing a thick layer of blankets havent been able to ably solve. So Im basically spending all my time sleeping, brooding, or exercising, which is a little depressing.

I don't mean me or you as individuals, but humans as a whole. There are 8.7 million species on earth ( give or take 1,3 million source from 2011, not ot to mention all the species, that went extinct). So we are 1 out of 10 million species alive today, but none of the other species come close to us. We're not the norm, we're the weirdos. It seems odd to say it out loud, but when you look at the numbers, civilization is not normal. It's an outlyer a 1 in 10 million anomaly. If civilization was lifes goal, why would humanity be the only species to be civilized?

Also civilisation isn't life's goal. That's just strange. You don't spend every moment of your life striving for civilisation, in fact most people don't give a single contribution to civilisation other than simply be a living organism. Also, what is civilisation? Humans population was small and had a negligible effect on the world around them till about 10,000 years ago which is simply an eyeblink in the history of the world.
