i kissed a sliced up pear while watching fireworks over the towns roofs (our roof window is just above almost all other houses here, very good view). So well yeah not the best you can imagine, but i am pretty certain, any event i could have attended around here would have been a far worse experience for me. I feel sort of incompatible with most folks around here.
and all you whiners in here: Count the amount of "my gf" with the amount of "noone". I actually found this thread to be a relief lol.

Its a pretty standard tradition in America i know that for sure as i have heard about it since i was born and my parents did it before me

It is a tradition that horny American males developed sometime in the 20th century.
One not-so-charming fellow thought he would try the "Can I kiss you when the ball drops?" line and it worked. Another gentleman saw this happen, and tried it the next year. It worked again!! They both told their friends about this new garunteed-to-work pick up line and the tradition was born.

My girlfriend. I neglected to do it last year, not knowing it was a tradition (I guess I'm just that stupid?) so she was pretty mad at me last year. But this year I remembered!
