can someone smarter than me please explain why this graph has no bottom half of the heart:

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y=sqrt(1-x^2-|x|^(2/3)+2y(cubrt|x|))

where this one does:

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x^2+(y-cubrt|x|)^2=1

The second one is a square root so it doesn't exist for negative X values on Cartesian Axis.

Hah, for me they are by far and away the funniest things on the internet. Troll physics + forever alone makes my life complete. Also throw in most meme pictures, almost all of them have some great ones. Internet humour is so funny I sometimes just browse funny pics for 30 mins instead of watching a comedy TV show. For me the least funny pics are ones where it's just a picture with some stupid pose like a guy accidentally licking another's armpit and no funny words.

sometimes just funny because of the epic repeatedness of the joke

Ehhh pretty sure you just mean that the y-value cannot be negative on the second graph.

You can see on it that x can clearly be negative; the y-value on the cut-off graph just cannot be negative because that equation sets y as the square root of a quantity. I think there's a more technical explanation, but I'm too lazy to explain much right now, and this is sort of the layman's reasoning :> X can be essentially any value under a square root, as long as the resultant quantity under the square root is positive.
