Hm... For 30 bucks, I may check this out.
My friend has one - he really likes it. Kind of sounds like a jackhammer though.

Its not bad for typing but you have to press the keys much further and harder which isnt what you want for a game like SC. It depends on the type of switches he has. He probably has black cherry switches. However, it shouldn't require you to push the key down farther to make the keystroke register. Mechanical keyboards shouldn't even have to be depressed 1/2 way to make the keystroke. That doesn't make sense at all.
Black cherries don't require toooo much strength, I think 60 grams of force. I think Husky might be talking about really old school switches.
Btw, the black alps the M1 uses are tactile no click, so it is not as noisy as cherry blues.

how long does this deal last? I'm pondering ><

Thanks for the heads up on this, just ordered it. Had been looking for a new keyboard for a while and this one didn't look too bad but I didn't want to drop the money for its regular price, so this was a nice surprise.

I think mechanical keyboards are good for FPS, because i remember seeing that a lot of CS progamers use the mechanical steelseries keyboard. I can imagine its good for RTS as well.

typos are nothing to be afraid of. if anything they make you more like day9.

;d no n-key rollover. which doesn't matter too much for starcraft and you probably don't care about. but yeah, good way to get a "filco" on the cheap

Can someone who has both this and the steel series 6g/7g compare them?

Heh, I just wish some of my old mechanical keyboards would still fit the computers ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif) I really detest the Windows and Print keys...
