On sale at newegg for 29.99

Enter promo code EMCYRZT43 for additional -10$

I decided to finally replace my shitty flat laptop style keyboard with something more durable and sturdy. Never had a mechanical keyboard before either, so gonna see what's what.

Impulse buy, but hey for $20 can you really go wrong?

What's the advantage of having a mechanical keyboard? I've only noticed that they are really loud

That's basically it. They have higher quality keys with better tactile feedback than the usual membrane based keyboards you would find for $5 in a local electronics store.

Unlike most keyboards which can be bought at barracks, these are only available once you have built a factory with attached tech lab. It is here that you can research durability and tactile feel.

I've tried using my friends expensive mechanical keyboard for SC and it is TERRIBLE. Its not bad for typing but you have to press the keys much further and harder which isnt what you want for a game like SC.

What kind of switches does the DT-35 use?

I have this keyboard.. it is very sturdy and nice to use ^.^ feels like the keys will never ever break :O

But for gaming use like sc.. well.. keys do take a bit longer to press and are a bit firmer to push down than a cheapo keyboard but its really nice ^.^

You can always sell this to a friend for the same $20 or maybe 15.

That's what I did with the extra Salmosas when they were 13.37 on Woot, sold one, gave away the other, using the 3rd.

you have to press the keys much further and harder which isnt what you want for a game like SC.

How much harder? I'd think people press hard enough when they are agitated and excited such as when playing SC.

for some reason the constant loud clicking noises sounded really annoying. I'll stick with my G15 till I can order the samsung one

This is an amazing deal for an awesome gaming keyboard. Everybody should go out and take advantage of this deal if you live in the US.

For those who do not know the awesomeness of a mechanical keyboard.

If you don't like the noises then mech keyboards aren't for you. Pretty much every design features loud clicking noises (although the switch type determines how loud it is and what sound it makes).

As for the clicking further, you already have to bottom out your keys whenever you use a regular membrane keyboard so that statement is false. Pressing harder is true though, these things are similar in actuation force to buckling springs. This particular model uses black alps copy switches btw

This is a sick deal and would definitely outperform that DT-35 everyone seems to be raving about.

It depends on the type of switches he has. He probably has black cherry switches.

However, it shouldn't require you to push the key down farther to make the keystroke register. Mechanical keyboards shouldn't even have to be depressed 1/2 way to make the keystroke. That doesn't make sense at all.
