pique and ibrahimovic holding hands ala gay ?
Ibra has been on so much pressure since he joined Barca. His fee was huge and while his numbers are 'good' for his 1st season, most ppl feel he isnt/will not be good enough for Barca.
That pic looks more like they were having a conversation after training and Pique was reassuring Ibra that everything would be alright.
Then again if you think a friendly handshake or kissing a man on the cheek is gay... then they are probably gay, and I'm a flaming homosexual as well

You're goddamn annoying. Yeah, a fan's passion that's backed up so much better than anyone else in the thread with lots of actual games watched is filler. Shut up.
Sure someone can be passionate but when someone's repeating something 500 times in page-long posts, it becomes tiring to read and I'm not the only one that thinks this.
It's the equivalent of someone constantly arguing that scouts are the best unit in Starcraft for a year. No-one is going to be convinced and no-one cares. He derails the topic by constantly ranting about Totti which everyone grows tired of. Do you know how many pages of this topic in the last few months have been about Totti? If he wants to make a topic or blog posts about Totti he can go right ahead. This topic is about football, not an adoration topic for Totti.

i think youre being harsh...you act like hes a troll
usually hell back up whatever he says with games and examples in a critical fashion. Hes obviously a true football fan it seems, and its not like all he does is talk about totti.
its sort of like a running joke like someone said earlier...

I'm not calling him a bad poster/troll or whatever, just the topic derailment is annoying. I'm kind of a hypocrit here because I'm derailing the topic right now but I just wanted to point it out and it seems like many agree with me.

Ugh I'm in a bad mood all day, maybe I should've brought this up in a PM with Holgerius.
Apologies for my bitterness.

true football fan or true totti fan? if totti joined some club in the middle of Mongolia, would Holgerius still post about Roma/Italian football again with the fanatical fervor that he has been? His "facts" are biased and often wrong so just because they're in essay format doesn't make him any better than the guy who posts a 1 line flame. He pretty much posts just to get a reaction and anyone who hasn't been following this thread will reply, which lets him post another page long essay. Yes, it's some kinda running joke but when you hear the same joke multiple times a week for over a year it tends to get stale and not funny anymore.

It definitely is more of a half-joke than anything, which is why I let it still go on, compared to that Arsenalgunner guy

i find it funny actually, never annoyed me

holgerius likes roma more than he likes totti, he likes totti because he's been roma's most important player for a decade.
I don't understand why he seemingly thinks that "everyone" is claiming that totti is "ordinary" though. that phrase hasn't been used much - I myself, whom I feel considered to be in this group, compared him to klinsmann (was one of the greatest forwards in the world at his peak) and le tissier (one of the greatest players in PL ever).. we're not grossly underrating totti, but yes, we do draw more attention towards his idiocy than towards his skill, but that's because he's an idiot and we don't feel he deserves better.. if he wasn't an idiot, we'd talk about how he's skilled instead.

if anyone in ANY league kicked someone as hard as they could in the side of the knee and then kicked them in the head when they were down, we would be talking about it. he can write as many self-righteous essays as he likes, it's not going to change that fact.
most of the people who post in this thread talk about the english and spanish leagues, the european cups and random stuff that happens around the football world. he is clearly the most knowledge person about serie a in this thread, and i'm not saying that he shouldn't post about the italian league, indeed i'm glad that he posts about it because it adds some variety and is interesting, but you can hardly get upset if people aren't as inclined to post about roma, or totti, especially considering theyre not in the champions league. i don't think that he is annoying, and the discussion a few pages back about totti and other GOATs(this plural doesnt make any sense lol) was interesting, because it was an actual discussion with facts backing up his claims, but when he responds with 5 paragraphs to a single line offhand comment, and it addresses as if the whole forum had said it and agreed with it, it gets tiresome and annoying to scroll through.
sorry for the ultra stream of consciousness post bros :D:D:D

Yeah, its just like the casual sports fan only knows Zidane for his headbutt than for his skill.

I was a bit annoyed when I replied to your post, so I'll try to say it better.
TL's not a football forum, so this is the main thread for all things football. So it's not just about objective match results, tactics discussions, or something specific, it encompasses everything about people who like football. And a large part of football is exactly what Holgerius is about, loyalty, fandom, and blind devotion.
And for a crazy biased fan, he's really one of the best of those. Whenever he wants to praise Totti, he brings in a video of a great goal, or a great performance by him. Whenever he talks about Roma, it's relevant to how they played in a recent game. And he's shown he is knowledgeable and reasonably objective (as far as you'd expect a single team fan to be). Basically, he's what I want from a devoted but educated fan.
It's the same kind of attitude I see from Holgerius in his e-Sports posts; a huge amount of passion but it's tempered with knowledge, and that's very respectable. Anyway I guess I was just trying to cover his back -_-

Obviously whenever i used the word ordinary I wasnt serious at all ( I used it once ) Its just that one can not be serious anymore with this TOtti obsession and stuff..
Its like 10 x times worse I have been with Henry and Fedor I used to post about Henry whenever the question arised who is the best scorer, fast player, most gifted ect.. And with Fedor i randomly posted in MMA / UFC topics to show my admiration. Looking back it was just childish. And if i compare my behaviour with holgeriuses its just that his is much worse and more annoying. Well basically its not even annoying but just a bit sad and funny thus I rarely can respond in a serious way to his tottiitis..
Serious opinion about totti: He is a good player. There are many good players. He is nothing special when we are talking about special in the sense of ( Pele, Maradonna, Zidane, ect.. ). He is not playing in the most competetive team ( teams who regularly win the champion ship and basicaly always play and do good in the Champions league Barca, Manu, Chelsea ect.. )
Thats what I think about totti in all seriousity
Whenever i see that Holgerius without any obvision reason wrote app. 10 posts per page about totti I have no other option than to make fun of it and downtalk totti as much as he overrates him
Why not a blog if he wants to post 3 posts about totti per day ? But imagine every single person posting something about their fav. player all the time. This topic would be totally shattered..
Holger to calm your totti stuff down: Everyone who knows something about football ( trust me I in particular do ) knows how good totti is ok ? He is a very good and gifted player but he is no all time great and he also isnt the most amazing player ever and I dont include any behaviour issues at all whenever i talk about skill ...

Wow Barca rather start with Pedro than with Ibra in the most important match of the season. Is this an indication that Ibra might leave?
wow once again Barca almost loses a point after a huge lead. Over-cockiness?
|
i wasnt really paying attention to the game, but the goals seemed just like yea like you said over cockiness possibly or simply barca making mistakes/playing bad defense
|
Why can't we all get along?
As Waxangel said; this is a multi-purpose thread, and I fail to see how it's derailing to talk about a football player. I rarely write ''without any obvious reason''. I just skimmed through the thread, and a vast majority of all my posts that mentions Totti are comments on recently played games, which is totally reasonable. I mean what the fuck, you expect me to create a new thread after every exciting Roma game? And the notion that I don't discuss anything other than Roma is a severe exaggeration; I have made almost as many posts about Barca as I have made about Totti (not getting tired of reading that name though, eh?), I have argued about Athletic Bilbao's player policy, England's national team, made posts consisting of several hundred words about Messi, I comment on games from all possible leagues etc.
It's not that hard to ignore a post if you don't have any interest in it. Seriously, who was the ''childish'' one when I made a post about Totti who in his comeback from an injury scored a hattrick in 30 minutes (something well worth pointing out), and someone then promptly responded by saying ''Serie A sucks''? There was only really one part of this thread were I went into full-blown rant mode and made 1000+ word posts, and that was initiated when the very same someone said a quite unmotivated ''Shut the fuck up'' because he disagreed with me (I've seen people get banned for less), which pissed me off and got me going.
I have never (in a serious way, the Totti-bonjwa thingy and similar stuff is obviously just me joking around) claimed that Totti is the best player in the world now. It should be very easy for anyone with just a hint of common sense to tell when I'm just being extremely retardedly biased for fun, and I do not think it's fair to claim I am being unreasonably subjective and corrupting facts in any serious discussions.
I will not stop posting about the player and the team that I love just because some (most) of you do not agree with me, just because some (most) of you dislike Roma, Totti and Serie A. Whether they make me happy by winning or sad by losing I have the same right to express my feelings about it here as any United fan has.
''They do not love that do not show their love'' - The greatest poet of all time.
Forza Roma! Grande Totti!
--------------------------------------------------------------- It's fucking unbelievable that Real might become #2 in La Liga while getting 98 points. Sickening, really. There are more points between #2 and #3 than there are between a CL spot and the relegation zone. How the fuck is that possible?
Messi is just 2 goals away from the real Ronaldo's record with 1 game left to play. Barca are facing some crappy team (can't remember which one right now) that they could most certainly crush with 5 goals or so, and it's played at Camp Nou, so I think he has a good shot at pulling it off (I hope he doesn't though, the GOAT should keep as many of his records as possible IMO). And Cronaldos stats for this season are quite absurd as well; he has scored 33 goals in 34 games. O_o That's pretty damn good.
Fun fact; if Barca wins the league Zlatan will have won the league he plays in 7 years in a row. ^__^ That must be some sort of a record. He can't be too happy right now though with Barca starting with Pedro and Bojan and then subbing in Jeffren, leaving Zlatan on the bench during the entire game. =/ Come back to Serie A where you belong!
|
Barca is facing Valladolid in the last round so yeah, they should really win that game. About what you mentioned with barca and their pride/cockiness, it is what makes them a great team but sadly its also what creates their flaws. Just take a look at the CL-semi against Inter, they just completely lost their game when they werent in the lead and played probably their worst game this season. They just dont have that "lets turn this around!" mentality that a pro-team needs, cause they have it too easy and can usually get by by their "lets play football, lets have fun and lets dominate the field" sort of thinking.
|
Now that is how you respond to criticism, that is how you pull yourself from the deepest pits of hell into the arms of Jesus, that is how you let your brilliance do the talking, that is how you give a metaphorical bitchslap to any doubters or haters who wallow in their acrimony. The man is coming from one of the worst weeks of his life, it's a must win game, his team is down 0-1 and is being incredibly unlucky (I don't know how many times Roma hit the frame of the goal), Inter are leading and are in that moment champions, 11 minutes left on the clock. Then He steps up and scores 2 goals. Just like that. Oh my, what a champion. Serie A is still alive. Grande Totti!
|
Cronaldo's stats are indeed insane but I feel he's having the zlatan syndrome .
For the people who wonder what the zlatan syndrome is ( which im sure are many since its more of a thing between me and a friend of me who's a huge inter fan for a decade or so already ) . Its the fact that zlatan was literally ;o_God good vs Calgiari, Bari, atalanta and Chievo but never reached the same level in Chamoions league games for Inter or even in the real classics that mattered vs Juve ac or Roma, or atleast rarely.
As good as Cronaldo has been playing this year, both games vs barca he was invisible and vs Lyon when they needed him he didnt shine either, which is really harsch ofcourse cause he still played a superb season dispite a few injury's..but...... those goals vs zaragoza xerez and getafe are nice but they need him vs barca ;(, hope to see Kaka shine a bit more next year though, he can do it. Maybe if Kaka grows a bit more into the team and less injury's, cronaldo will be able to shine in the top games too, and get rid of the zlatan syndrome, zltan who btw is just not good enough for absolute top, period.

winning the league 7 seasons in a row might be a record (for a player), or close to one, in the better leagues. but not if you include say, norway.
