Punk got rattled early and just mentally lost it. It didn't help he was also playing against Tokido's Akuma who has the best pressure/offense game currently, so there's absolutely no room for Punk to even breath or think. Tokido simply the best player this Evo, showed up and pretty much curb stomped everyone.

EVO finals were great.

Kinda feel bad for Punk, choking so badly and not having the experience to take a breather and get everything back under control.

Pretty upset about Capcom for the Abigail situtaion, though. I don't like the "silly" designed characters, and he definitely seems like one of them. Also, doesn't look like your above to jump over him, and I have no idea how anyone would even throw him???

First time in SF5 that I haven't thought a character looked remotely interesting after the trailer... i hope he ends up playing/feeling fun, but as of right now, I don't see him adding anything "Good" to the game...

I've completely stopped playing SFV, and only watch it during top 8 of majors.

I actually hated SF4 near the end of its life, but I didn't get this quickly burnt out by it like I have in SFV. Might also be because I have T7/Rev 2 to keep me occupied in terms of fighters atm.

edit: Yea, camera cut away from him to Tokido during award ceremony, but Punk was definitely hanging on by a thread from letting the waterworks loose. Dude's only 18, he's only going to get better and more experienced.

Pretty glad Punk got bodied TBH. He was getting way too big of a head thinking he could just remain at the top and beat people purely on reaction timing and spacing. There was definitely some choking, but Tokido really pushed him hard and pressured him by beating him in the neutral or at least contesting it with st.mk, which Punk really had no answer for. If Tokido was abit better on his AA game he probably wouldn't have even lost a round TBH.

Think eating a ton of humble pie in the GF will finally make him realize that being an "Alpha" doesn't mean shit if he can't come up with the goods when it really counts. Will probably make him grow up and be a much better player too.

The dude's clearly good and a lot of big JP players have respect for him. Bonchan even tweeted him this. But I also hope this humbles him a bit and makes him refocus and grow in the long run. All the best players have those moments.

Don't get me wrong, I've paid so little attention to SFV over the past year that I loved his outrageous persona and cockiness. Calling out other US players and stirring the pot all the time, playin the heel. One of the only entertaining things to catch up on now and then. But if he wants to stick around for a while and really ascend, he needs that reality check. Hope he comes out the other side even stronger.

Top 8 was great, and the finals made a great story because Tokido's such an appreciated personality and it's completely deserving that he has a EVO win under his belt. But the actual match for finals was a let down imo. Punk/Tokido showdown should have been fireworks!
