an arcsys employee commented on the +r steam forums that, since they are porting the games themselves now, more titles will find there way to PC (steam), and that they are aware of the fact that people want them to release the current versions of bb and gg. then they came out with battle fantasia... you never know with these guys

Was thinking about it some more and I'm actually a bit sad that there are no sprite-based games left. Take Mai as an example, as a character made of sprites she has a certain charm, as a 3D model it's a slippery slope to DoA shenanigans/fanservice :S

there are a few sprite based games still... I just think they look kinda bad for one reason or another. That said, if everything went 3D the way guilty gear went 3D, I don't think anyone would be upset.

cool that kyo / iori still look thin at least. Even gg made it's chars way more buff in the 2d -> 3d upgrade

This looks more like a downgrade. Wtf was wrong with the hand-drawn 2D sprites? Absolutely nothing. In fact, they look damn great.

Even GG Xrd used 3D to simulate 2D with the cel shading and all, which made it visually appealing and unique from other fighting games.

I was hoping for the sequel they'd complete the 2D victories animations you see in the older games that didn't make it to KOF13 due to time and budget constraints, but I guess that won't be happening anymore

Some scrub lord got me to play Rising Thunder because he can't handle the MAN in fighting-MAN games. It is a little slow for my liking but definitely fun. Remember guys just go to their website to sign up for free! It is a quick download and in open registration phase.
