mvc2 = it's a joke game in japan.
cvs2 = it just got replaced, b/c it doesnt that strong a current following these days in the arcades.
The theme of this event I think is to have an event representing the games that are being played extensively in the arcades during that very year. I personally like this event more than EVO since the set up is more professional and ditto for the equipment. (3s was being played on some kind of emulator at evo back in 2003 right? what a joke lol  )
(Apparently most events in japan are held somewhat in conjunction with the game publisher and are 1 game only events.)

Im not sure that CvS2 was there last year either. The game simply isnt very popular, and especially in Japan where they have had many decent similar titles since.

It's mainly a GGXX // VF // Tekken // melty blood country as of now.
KOF is very weak b/c of its series of very crappy titles.
3s has a small but fiercely loyal (and gosu) population of players.
I'm personally no fan of CvS2, but compared to the "similar" titles since then, I'll place CvS2 above all of them (like you know, NBC, or Capcom Fighting Jam, etc)

There is no CPS3 emulator. It was played on Dreamcast one or two years and PS2 since. Dont make shit like that up. Especially when the SRK people put so much work into their yearly tournament.
I think its fair to say the SBO presentation is quite nice, but then again at least Evo discs show the top 16 + top matches. SBO just shows top 4 every year.

A supergun IS an arcade machine. Its just a jamma harness(The format arcade boards use) with TV outs like a console and sometimes controller hook ups. : [
Hm I was pretty sure they used the DC version one year(They may have just used superguns for the finals), I know for the past two they have used Anniversary Edition. But w/e. The players do bitch, but most are accepting of it now. And frankly ive never heard the Japanese say anything about it. They just come to play(And win despite the marginal difference). Its just not feasible for them to round up the equipment necessary anymore so you gotta accept it or not participate.

more accurately, I was flat out wrong. I apologize. In fact... maybe this is better than the ps2 version since timings are known to be different on even the ps2 version of 3s.
