I don't know, it seems like going the extra price for the lightboost or similar feature monitors is really worth it (I remember when I got my CRT while playing 1.6, it was night and day). I have no idea, just try it and you will see. My rank is MG2 and both games I've ended up somewhere in the middle of scoreboard.

Hi guys! I'm a complete noob who's looking to pick this up and attempt to play ranked games, but I don't want to be flamed for not knowing the names of certain approaches or standard strategies for the maps. Is there a resource or video series I could watch that would bring me up to speed at least marginally? In watching JP/Kaitlyn stream I realized I would just be a fish out of water not knowing any terminology.

HattonGames has videos on YT where he goes through some maps and the respective callouts. Also, if you google <mapname> callouts you'll get overview maps with the names put in. If you're a complete newbie, as you say, then don't worry about it. Most teammates won't know them or use a mic at all.

At lower level T strategies will be pretty straightforward (rush A or B) or nonexistent with everybody doing his thing, and as CT you'll just be assigned to a bomb site and you'll defend it. If you can learn the names of all the zones for the main maps, you'll already do more than most players by just calling where you spot people.

It means that it will pretty much remove boosting.
The higher ranks were filled with blatant spinning bots headshotting everyone on the map to boost other teammates (against money or skins I guess, so they don't care about bans). This update means that it will be a lot harder to boost people, as their ranks will be rolled back once you get banned (and you get banned pretty quickly with the obvious hacks).

It probably won't remove the hackers that are more subtle about it, but those are already way better than the spinning bots that really don't let you any chance to play.

That's an interesting (and positive) change for sure. Although I do wonder what it means for players that just happen to be put in a team with a cheater, they're kinda screwed then. Just like the other team. It's basically a waste of however-long-it-takes for the cheater to 'win' the game. And since you can't forfeit anymore there's not much you can do apart from leave the computer for half-an-hour.

EDIT: Actually, you can vote to surrender can't you? WarOwl made a video yesterday in which he complained that there was no GG forfeit like in Starcraft... Why did he dismiss the vote surrender option? Any ideas?

Surrender is only allowed once somebody abandons.

I just tried to play 2 games of MM and only got abusive eastern europeans as teammates, managed to get them to kick me twice but its sure killed off any want i had to play CS today.

Why are people such arrogant entitled fucktards.
